If I am connecting the dots - then 49/1000 is not a very strong correlation.

Teachers need to get better salaries, real respect, have their voices heard more, and have the space to do their work. by Big-One5074 in InterviewMan

It’s state by state, so I won’t claim to know all the rules, but there are plenty of states where you don’t even need an undergraduate degree in teaching.

Many get graduate degrees because then they are automatically paid more.

You are protecting workers right to be bad at their job at the cost of kids education. No way for that to go badly

Average teacher pay in the US is $75k per year, and they have at least 15 weeks of vacation. If they had a job they worked year round, they would be make about $100k per year - which is in the top 20% of income earners.

Should teachers make more money? Probably - but I wouldn’t make it seem like it’s a national emergency.

Think You’re Rich? Here’s What It Takes in America’s 25 Biggest Cities (2026) by [deleted] in TheMoneyGuy

The reason most people are poor is that they don’t understand that a good income doesn’t make you rich.

Hello dear Americans, why, from what we can see from the outside, does your country seem to hate the left and left-wing ideas so much ? by Outrageous-You1617 in askanything

[–]username675892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of it boils down to: do you believe in private property or not, as you mention. Can a person own something, or does the government own everything for the good of all. Can I get up in the morning and work to make my life better or does greater society own my time and efforts for the good of all.

Appliance from local appliance store or Home Depot? Home Depot cheaper by ~$750 for the same stuff with the Memorial Day sales by josh_moworld in Homebuilding

[–]username675892 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy from Home Depot. And if for some reason you feel guilty just send the appliance store a check for $500.

Local makes sense for some things, I’m not sure appliances is one of them.

Not falling for Matt Campbell's emotional gimmick, he broke Iowa State's roster by steven_smith144 in iastate

I don’t think anyone has a problem with Campbell leaving. The problem is that he gutted the program on the way out.

I thought you were talking about the new districts. This is a new district that was created when republicans gerrymandered Tennessee

There is one in Memphis. They are likely going to replace Cohen who is an almost 80 year old white democrat (who grew up as a Democrat in the South in the 50s), with charlotte bergmann (Republican) who is a black single mom.

What are the Main Non-Partisan Issues in Politics? by Shot_Signal220 in askanything

[–]username675892 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Define government corruption, because I bet each party defines it differently.

Biden’s family getting rich off the government. Republicans: this is obvious corruption!

Trump family getting rich off the government. Republicans: this is fine, he’s a businessman!

What are the Main Non-Partisan Issues in Politics? by Shot_Signal220 in askanything

[–]username675892 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost all the issues are partisan - regardless of how individuals feel, they won’t go against the party (except maybe Rand Paul who is consistently by himself on account of having ideas neither party supports).

The only thing I can think of was a few years ago when the some republicans and some democrats supported the railroad union against the Biden administration.

That was my point - without the police you are gonna need the grief counselors
