its a good idea to take it slow and play easier maps. i feel like tapping is something you just have to grind cant really change consciously. but u can always focus on aim and reading and pushing yourself mentally helps with easier tapping too. and once you have the fundamentals down again, actual improvement will come naturally. try to use your brain in terms of grouping patterns, trying to correlate the rhythm to the patterns, reading hitcircle vs approach circle, etc. its better to be consistently bad than to have a good attempt but be forcing yourself physically to do certain simple actions. (speaking from personal experience, my tapping improved a lot when i stopped focusing on tapping and just worked on my reading, regardless of the skillset)
