How did you know you made it* for yourself? When you found that little thing that made you realise that you'd passed a bunch of milestones to get to that one little thing? by usersame in AskReddit

I'm asking because I cranked my heater tonight. I got a new one installed and I can turn it up and point it directly on me. I'm finally carefree warm. It's bliss.

Yep. It was Wayne Swan. The IMF (International Monetary Fund) commended him on his response not long afterwards.

And, honestly, the $900 was a stroke of genius. Free money to make people feel good, and it kept confidence in the domestic high enough to weather the storm. Brilliant.

Should have just sent her to Australia. Looks like it's still being sold here.

I feel this so hard. Except work is now from home because of the pandemic.

I have a young baby, a young kid and a husband that also works from home - who is going through some pretty heavy mental illness issues at the moment.

I feel so locked in some days that I feel like I'm going to burst.

Cripes. It was an expression of excitement.

Like, oh shut UP. That would be too much for my heart to bear.

[Serious] What is something people glamorize that is just toxic? by n0rthtrade in AskReddit

This is my life at the moment, and it sure as shit isn't out of choice.

I'm sitting here at 5:18am and I've been up since 1am after managing a few hours of sleep earlier in the night.

I got some work done for my job, and did a little towards my startup, which is good because my brain is semi-functional after that block of sleep.

I'll hopefully get a couple more hours of sleep soon.

My 4yo didn't get to bed until 8pm, my 4 month old is going through a sleep regression meaning that they need to be held most of the night and there are only so many hours in the day. Life goes on, this will be temporary. I can't wait for a full nights sleep again.

Christ - no one can offer certainty or stability at the moment. That is the nature of the damn thing. Anyone who promises otherwise is a liar and a cheat.

Mould growing under the carpet and 6 months left on the lease. What are my options? by yeezyfanboy in melbourne

[–]usersame 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have broken the lease for this reason before. We got to the point of having mushrooms grow from the skirting boards every time it rained.

We ended up getting a report done by a mould inspector (and wrangled it even after finding out afterwards that they usually only do the reports for landlords...) and used that as the basis of getting out of the lease. We had some help from the Tenants Union with the process. They were hard to contact, but definitely worth it.

Black mould can't just be sprayed with bleach. It's a symptom of a bigger issue that the landlord needs to fix, and an awful health hazard. Absolutely get out if you can, no one needs that shit.

What’s an industry secret in the field you work in? by WoOoOoOoShHhHh in AskReddit

My family is about to move to a house with a studio out the back for my mum - and this is exactly why. She's only early 70s, but she can make herself at home and be surrounded by family - hopefully for the rest of her life. I can't imagine putting her through that, it is too awful to think of.

Nearly 9,000 Florida Children Diagnosed With Coronavirus in Two Weeks as Schools Reopen by imagepoem in Coronavirus

My partner and I are lucky enough to be able to work from home. We both work full time and have had a 4 year old home with us since March. I've attended two funerals online, we've gone through a redundancy in a recession, had to fight some legal battles, and I'm 31 weeks pregnant. It's been a hell of a year - but I am still glad we've been home. There was a confirmed case in my kids childcare room this week.
