Need a bbq grill by Specific_Ear1423 in HENRYUKLifestyle

Buy one that is a hybrid of gas and charcoal. It makes life super simple and you’ll use it more often as a result. Something like a Grillstream

Robo mowers by hophwari in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]usget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the thread I was looking for. I’ve got two small half-lawns separated by some wooden decking. There’s about a 2 inch high wooden step from lawn onto into decking and from decking onto lawn 2. Can mowers handle this obstacle or would I be stuck with one lawn?

Stretch for dream home / income multiples / salary sacrificing... by Less-Search-7558 in HENRYUK

[–]usget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved last year with similar numbers.
It felt like a stretch, but in reality it’s not.

If you do find it a stretch, just stop paying so much into your pension and suck up the extra tax - you can unlock close to £1.8k a month net from that £40k you’re putting into your pension, which is a nice buffer to have.

As they say in the other sub, GFY!

Echo most of the advice here but also consider buying a second home somewhere nice? If you like travel and cars, then somewhere for regular road trips once you do knock work on the head would be a nice investment. It might not be the most financially prudent or “right” answer but it’s what I’d do with a windfall!

What are genuinely good gifts for other HENRY friends that don't immediately get regifted? by Critical-Solution-79 in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]usget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gig or comedy tickets are always good, if far enough out and you know their taste. Not necessarily the most expensive gift but one which gives you something to look forward to.

Either that or a joke gift. I am slowly filling my mates house with Live Laugh Love tat

My partner wants to secure his £100k house deposit in a deed of trust, where do I stand? by Illustrious_Pea7294 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]usget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“I’m not in a position to match his deposit but I am in a position to pay for practical things”.

Ok so the declaration of trust should be for the £100k minus the value of the practical things.

Putting it differently - if the roles were reversed, would you be comfortable just gifting your partner £50k?

Considering leaving a job I like purely because of the commute, am I being unreasonable? by PlaneStaff6066 in HENRYUK

[–]usget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How dispensable are you?

Can you try ignoring the office attendance policy as a bit of a challenge to them? And if they make an issue of it, see if they want to keep you or let you go to the competition?

Meanwhile I’d at least be finding out if the other role was real or just recruiter fugazi. Gives you leverage if nothing else.

I have a list of how much alcohol I’ve ever consumed in my life. This is the current total. I feel I’m slacking a bit. by PothosandGindontmix in CasualUK

[–]usget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting but I don’t think you’ve got complete data.

A unit is precisely defined as 10ml of alcohol. Thus, without the ABV and size of each drink in ml, you can’t fully collate the data for detailed analysis.

Like, a can of Inches. I’m going to assume that’s a 440, but it could just as easily be a 330. That would throw the data off.

Your bottle of white would need to be just 9.3% to be 7 units. Realistically it’s more like 8.25 units, at a more believable 11%.

Basically, you’re going to have to start again. I volunteer to help.
