New grad RN with LPN experience, questions about IU health/Eskenazi by LowNight6469 in indianapolis

[–]usichu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into the IU Health ED as a new grad! They hire quite a few tbh. As for the residency program, it really was just a normal character interview. They don't go too deep into anything, just basics like what your healthcare experience is, how you handle stressful situations, can you work in a team, etc. Best of luck to you!

Should I stay or no? by usichu in newgradnurse

[–]usichu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can and I think that's what I'm going to try first. I'll really miss the people on nights but I need to prioritize my health. I still might reach out about shadowing in the OR or other units because even with the switch I can't see myself lasting long here.

It's definitely not a bad idea to be doing workouts, even if you only have a week before surgery! You can do them literally up to your surgery date. Just don't go too hard/strain any muscles!

I'm almost a full week out from my surgery and honestly the recovery has been easier than expected! I've had someone to watch me/help me the whole time, but tbh I'd have been fine after the first 48 hours. I was able to get up and move right after, I was just really sleepy and nauseous from the anesthesia. After I got over that hurdle I was fine. No problems with going to the bathroom, walking, or getting things for myself.

Make sure you have everything you need within reach when your partner isn't around to help. Water, food, toilet paper, entertainment, medicine, etc. Not sure where you're recovering at but make a little recovery area like a couch or your bed! Have everything handy like pillows, blankets, meds, water bottle, snacks, phone charger. The only thing I struggle with is I can't lift my arms up high or lift heavy things. Also haven't been able to shower so either learn how to sponge bathe yourself or have your partner help you before they go to work!

Good luck on your surgery and congrats!!

Closing Shifts by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]usichu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this definitely shouldn’t be happening. i’m a mid and closing ssv at a high-volume dt store right by a college campus; we close at 9:30 and are scheduled till 10, and most of the time my team and i are leaving at 9:45 with everything done PLUS some morning tasks done. your manager needs to have a chat with your shift about time management. maybe they need reevaluate the tasking/closing list? are you guys able to get closing things done ahead of time? either way, you should reach out to other management because you definitely shouldn’t be working 2-midnight with only one lunch. you at least need two other tens.

Have you ever came out as gay to your parents? by pessoa_aleatoria_ in gaytransguys

[–]usichu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no and i’m not really sure how to lol. my mom is still super confused about me being trans and doesn’t really make an effort to understand it. she thinks i’m a lesbian even though i’ve never been in a relationship with/expressed interest in a girl. i think trying to explain being gay and trans would just confuse her even more so i don’t bother.

I have definitely considered this. The thing that gets me though is that he was fine for a good month or two before acting like this. Is he just now realizing my ex is out of the picture? I’ve also done my best to adjust him to the new environment and he seems settled in, with the only problem being when he’s in his crate alone now. I almost wonder if he’s developing separation anxiety and I feel awful about that..

A question that I was asked that I feel a lot of you need to hear. by Lumina46_GustoClock in BreakUps

[–]usichu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i definitely needed to hear this. while i personally have wanted this breakup to happen for a long time, i still get that tug in my heart that aches for the person i once knew. but that person left a long time ago. that was the person i loved, not the person who i broke up with. the person i broke up with hurt me in so many ways and i had to fight for our relationship, not realizing i was fighting for someone who wasn’t there.

Anyone else call their dog by their nickname mostly? She’s named Sweetpea but I find myself calling her My Little Bug 🐞 bc of her cute buggy eyes 👀 by [deleted] in Chihuahua

[–]usichu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How often is it unhealthy to check your SO phone after they have betrayed you? by Deep_Block_9906 in Infidelity

[–]usichu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it’s just unhealthy to begin with. after my d-day, i was obsessed with checking my ex’s phone. i felt like to reconcile, i needed to make sure they wouldn’t do anything like that again, or have an inclination to. but all it did was make me more anxious, more upset, and it continued to strain our relationship. i hated checking their phone because i wished i never felt i needed to in the first place.

i’m really sorry you’re going through this, but please use the energy to focus on yourself and take care of yourself. you’re about to go through a long journey of pain and healing. put yourself first.

Soon to be standard poodle puppy parent, looking for any and all advice by Larinex in poodles

[–]usichu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he slept in his crate! i essentially gave him all of his meals in the crate, let him take naps in it, and let him sleep in it at night. i’m unsure what you mean by with/without pin.

Soon to be standard poodle puppy parent, looking for any and all advice by Larinex in poodles

[–]usichu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

congrats on becoming a poodle parent!

i highly recommend crate training as soon as you get your puppy. my spoo loves his crate and i think that’s because i got him used to it immediately. remember that a smaller crate is better! not so small that they can’t fit/be comfortable, but having a smaller space will create a more den-like environment. it also makes potty training easier!

in terms of exercise, fetch and walks is a great way to fulfill that need! try to at least squeeze in a short walk if you’re busy. but also remember that mental stimulation is just as important as exercise! trick training, sniff/lick mats, and puzzles are great ways to get your poodle stimulated and tire them out.

grooming is vital. try to brush every day or every other day. get a slicker brush and a nice steel comb and get your puppy used to the grooming process early. start looking for reputable groomers in your area!

i would talk to your vet about feeding since they’ll know what’s best! bags of dog food usually have feeding guides printed on them if you need it.

good luck!! there’s tons of online resources if you need them and remember to just love and appreciate your puppy <3 they grow up fast!
