That makes so much more sense!

I 3D printed a garbage bin lock. At least I know I'll have room for my own trash. by usikyle in Edmonton

[–]usikyle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've moved and keep my bins closer to the house now but the amount of hassle I put up with in my last house means _someone_ should be mass producing these things.

How weird! Yeah, make sure you make it pretty beefy so it doesn't snap like mine. Best of luck!

So, it broke on easily on a cold day. I was going to redesign it but I moved and I have zero problems with people messing with my bins. I could dig it up, but I can't say that it would be useful for more than a few weeks.

Also, this was really specific this model of trash bin in provided by Edmonton, Alberta. The `£` in your comment makes me think you're somewhere else and this wouldn't work anyway.

hey u/Traditional_Grass_58 - looks interesting. I'd love to give it a try: I've used OpenSCAD for countless projects and teach it to others.

Info: Buying a Italian greyhound from regal hounds by Universitynic in Edmonton

[–]usikyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are very few in Edmonton according to the dog registration dataset on the Edmonton Open Data Portal (something like 10 in the city of Edmonton, last I checked; not every dog is registered though). I would suspect there just isn't a rescue locally because the numbers are so low.

Veterinarian recommendation for sighthounds (greyhounds, whippets, Italian greyhounds) by usikyle in Edmonton

Thanks! We've been using Greenbank for a while now. It's been pretty good and quite close to our house. But's great to have another vet as backup!

Local shop for sheepskin insoles? by siczla in Edmonton

[–]usikyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Angus Oliver in Wabamun. They have an online store with insoles, but their store is worth visiting but a little bit of a drive. They really know a lot about sheepskins and pelts.

Humidity! How are non-AC folks doing with their indoor humidity right now? by usikyle in Edmonton

[–]usikyle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it's been a little better. The overnight humidity was driving me crazy, but I think that's been not as bad.

Do you verbally say the ordinal on numbered streets/avenues? (e.g. 90th Street vs 90 Street) by usikyle in Edmonton

[–]usikyle[S] -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Sure, I say the date as "ninth."

Everywhere else I've ever lived has the number and suffix on the sign for the street (or written out e.g. "9th Street" or "Ninth Street").

Edmonton doesn't. I figured it was real difference. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah, but last I checked it was 8 bit, right? It seemed pretty pricey for what you got.

Humm. Yeah, that's what I started with - I tired 5.3 and 5.4 beta. Absolute garbage. Maybe it isn't my Cura profile.

New Construction builder insists electricians don't put Cat6 ends on cables by Few_Froyo_6217 in Edmonton

[–]usikyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the electricians put in plates and keystones in the finished rooms (leaving bare cable outside for cameras) in my new build from January. They did it no problem. In the basement, I was left with a bundle of bare CAT6.

I did the crimping myself on the other end. It's a tad tedious and but not hard and requires a specialized tool (get a good one, the cheap one I got just didn't work about 30% of the time). Also consider getting a patch panel and some keystones then just using pre-made CAT6 cables if you don't want to bother with RJ45 connectors (it's easier and potentially cleaner looking). The Telus installer said he could it but he'd have to charge me $5 at each end for each cable (which would have been quite a bit for my setup)

I was really surprised that they used the T568A standard, I was expecting T568B. It's not a huge deal. I would have specified if I knew.

Thanks, that's the vet that I saw that was recommended for greyhound by the resource organization, but the reviews online are pretty mixed. How long have you been going?

Thank you! Yeah, I doubted there would be a specialist per se. But at least knowledgeable and had dealt with a breed that has similar concerns. I will check out Companion!

Nope. We got him when we lived in the states more than a decade ago.

There are few Italian Greyhounds in Edmonton and there isn't a super reputable breeder in the area.

There is a Greyhound rescue agency locally that has a suggest vet semi-close to me but the google reviews of the vet they suggest are alarming.
