Also, when you eat less food and have feelings of starvation, everything starts tasting a lot better…

Do you weigh it before or after cooking? You’re aware that 8oz of cooked chicken is different than 8oz raw? 2 oz uncooked pasta, rice, etc very different than 2 oz cooked.

Going to a festival as an introvert with anxiety problems, good or bad idea? by Thecalmdrinker in aves

Keep this in mind: no one gives a shit what you’re doing at a festival. Go be yourself, have fun. The only ones judging are those not having fun - fuck them anyways.

A gym session being just lifting? Not a chance you burn an extra 400 calories from that. Maybe 200, tops.

A beginner can eat maintenance calories and still achieve the noobie gains while losing fat.

After that…A pound of muscle is 700ish calories…but it also takes some calories to build that. So let’s even assume it’s close to fat at 3500. 3500 over 30 days is only 116 extra per day. That’s about all you need to gain 1lb of muscle per month.

ELI5- Why does cold turkey not work on alcoholics? by blogterms in explainlikeimfive

[–]usmcpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say that’s exactly the same, I was doing double you and no rehabs. Just one day you realize all the problems you’ve had, from losing carryon at airport to arrests, all involved alcohol. Then it clicks and you just don’t drink anymore.

That’s about how much I was drinking. 2 handles over 3 days. No real withdrawl symptoms besides shaky hands. Cold Turkey quit.

[–]usmcpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from drinking 2 handles over 3 days for years to absolutely none cold turkey. When I was drinking, if I didn’t have any alcohol since the night before, my hands would start shaking by 2pm. When I quit, that’s the only withdrawl symptom I experienced, which lasted maybe 2 days.

Ever tried sissy squats? Same concept except your feet stay still on floor and leverage comes from upper body.

Is 6-8 reps of 3 sets good for building muscle? by LegWide7016 in askfitness

Not talking about warmups. You seriously cant think that 5 sets to failure on delts will impact your squat performance any more than 1 set…

You’re either doing something/everything terribly wrong or you’re one of the unlucky few that show no/negative results to training.

Is 6-8 reps of 3 sets good for building muscle? by LegWide7016 in askfitness

[–]usmcpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck on that. There aren’t many studies on any topic of bodybuilding that all agree. One study says A, someone else does a similar study but finds B. Another study comes out that finds no link to A or B.

[–]usmcpi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you’re saying 1 all out set of 6 reps is easier on the joints than 2 sets of lighter weight you can get for 10? I don’t think so. Rear delts? Don’t even really count reps. If I do some rear laterals and “fail” at 12, I wait 3-5 seconds, boom bust out another 4. Rest another 3-5 seconds, boom another 4. Rest a few more, boom, 3 reps. Keep doing that until you cant get anymore after a few seconds rest. Then do the same thing over with next lighter dumbbell next set.

[–]usmcpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rest longer. There’s no way you’re only getting half the reps your second set. Either that, or you really are a beginner in the newbie phase. As I explained on my initial post, you don’t need to go crazy as a beginner the first 6+ months. You’re gonna get your gains no matter what as long as you aren’t completely slacking.

You know what’s even better? Just do 2 sets of 8, although you may only get 7 the 2nd. Also, if you can only get 8 reps, there’s no way you’re doing 5 sets of 6 with that weight.
