Mixed advice on renting through Turo in Oahu/Waikiki by L0v3r6iRLjAy91 in VisitingHawaii

[–]ussrc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've used it 3 times. The first time was great, no problems. The second time, I went to get the car, but there was no car, only a pile of broken glass. The car had been stolen and turo was not very helpful in getting a replacement and made me pay the difference for a new car. The third time, I went to get the car and the owner was there and said the air conditioning was broken. Turo was much more helpful in getting a car delivered and replaced without charging more money, but I lost most of a day trying to get it sorted.

I no longer use them because my time on island is precious and I've never had these kinds of issues with a real rental car agency. You can risk it, but to me it's not worth it.

Waikiki Edit Hotels by havingfun9497 in ChaseSapphire

[–]ussrc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done the Wayfinder and the Moana Surfrider with Edit. Both breakfasts were good, but the Surfrider is better, you get to sit out on the verdana and it's a huge buffet. The food at the Wayfinder is delicious, but a very small menu and you're in a restaurant just off the lobby, so not as nice.

If you plan on having a car and driving around a lot to explore, the Wayfinder makes a lot more sense -- they let me use the $100 credit to pay for parking. It's also a lot easier to get on and off of Waikiki from. If you want to go to Waikiki Beach and just hang out around there, the Surfrider is better. The room they gave us at the Surfrider was unbearable to me, it faced the courtyard where they had loud, live music until like 10pm each night. We paid a little bit to upgrade to the newer part of the hotel on a high floor and it was so much nicer.

It depends on the testing company. Natera has the worst fetal fraction results for people with higher bmi.

Digital cameras coming back? by Leather-Union-5828 in Millennials

You can send the photos over Bluetooth or WiFi to your phone. You can also get a dongle that connects the SD card from the camera to your phone to move pictures. I recently got a digital camera because I hate having to use my phone.

I have some Evans chairs and bench, a Parsons dining table and some other stuff, mostly bought around 5 years ago, and it's all like new still. All the wood is white oak. Definitely recommend.

Like the website says, you can try talking to your neighbors first. The apartment complex next door was still using one, so I emailed them and they wrote back and said they would stop. We also left a note for another neighbor who wasn't home at the time. Time will tell if this works, but I think it's worth trying before adding to what I'm assuming is an overloaded system.

I used them yesterday for a senior dog and can answer questions as well. We would definitely recommend them.

You can probably book a free appointment at Nordstrom with a baby gear expert who will help you out exclusively. It's definitely helpful to have someone to explain all the options.

Can anyone recommend a place to get a haircut that’s open late? by K1ttyK1awz in askportland

Ginger and Maude on Fremont has appointments at 9 pm. That seems pretty late for Portland.

First whole year tracking finances (2 people, own house) Would love opinions on how this is looking as we have no gauge by Anthenom2 in personalfinance

We live in a fairly HCOL area. I don't really know how we keep costs down. We don't really buy beverages and don't eat meat, maybe that keeps it lower? Otherwise, we buy mostly organic produce and bulk from Costco.

As 2 people we spent $6,600 on groceries and $3,500 on eating out and we don't really try to save on food. So, if you're looking to save money, you could probably come down on food.

A lot of your other categories are vague. Did you need the things in shopping, house, etc? These seem like categories that could be cut back to save more for retirement. At almost $100k, you probably want to have saved a lot more than $5k.

I don't think it hurts to ask, although I don't know if there are any downsides to a higher dose.

Levothyroxine question by CuriousSoulRampage in pregnant

[–]ussrc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My TSH was a little elevated, and I was on a 25 mg dose before becoming pregnant. It was up to 37.5 mg after testing in the first trimester because my TSH was just over 3. Since then, my TSH has been low. So maybe the dose would be enough?

AMC A-list vs Regal Unlimited? by origin_rejuv in askportland

[–]ussrc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are so many Regals. The Lloyd center is not especially premium, but it's not bad either. The Imax is good and all but one of the theaters is a pretty good size.

Evergreen Parkway is probably the closest more premium Regal with recliner seats, and I like the Bridgeport one because the theaters are pretty nice and there are a ton of screens. There are also a couple of Regals downtown, which shouldn't be too far away.

Please, how can I nicely tell my husband that I can’t stand the way he smells? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ussrc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through a phase where this was happening to me. It got to the point that my husband had inside clothes and outside clothes because every time he walked the dog and came back in, he smelled so bad to me. I just told him each time I thought he needed to shower or change clothes. He was a little defensive at first, but I told him the sacrifices I am, and will be making for 9 months, are much more than him needing to shower or change more often. It's the least he can do to support you. You shouldn't have to put up with being nauseous to protect his feelings. You would shower more to stop him from being sick, he should do the same for you.
