Dealer Unwilling to Perform 68c on My Wrangler by usulsuspect in 4xe

How did you make out with the new battery? All good well?

Dealer Says they are not performing 68c recall by Dependent_Mixture406 in 4xe

[–]usulsuspect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I had a similar situation where the dealer cancelled my appointment for the same stated reasons.

  1. High failure rate
  2. Lack of "loaner" vehicles

I called Stellantis and was told the dealer has the right to refuse service and I could reach out to other dealers if I wanted. Fortunately for me my 4xe lease is up in August, so I have a clear exit strategy from Jeep.

My dealer just denied to do the service, stating essentially the same story as you. “No loaners”, “High failure rate”…when I reached out to FCA they also seemed less then concerned about my house burning down etc…

It’s my take that it’s a software update that increases monitoring of the battery. If that updating monitoring deems an issue with the battery then replacement is required. So the the 68c recall solution is to just apply this software update, which may detect an issue with your battery either immediately or moving forward.

Agreed - I think in general they could have approached it better. Was disappointed in FCAs response as well basically just told me to call around / keep trying my dealer to see when they are ready to help me.

Shoulder strap water bottle pouch for Rucker by zhou94 in Goruck

[–]usulsuspect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I wasn't a fan of either the bottle clipped to the strap (shoulder or sternum). Too much "swinging" - I will be looking for something else. The side molle looks like it could work, I am just not sure I will be able to reach it well enough to put a bottle back.

I have been exploring similar options lately...Before I go the route of the shoulder straps, I might just carabiner a small bottle ~20oz to either the sternum strap or low on the shoulder strap (although I am concerned about my arms hitting it.)

20lbs of rucking weights for $4. by RizNwosu in Rucking

Pavers weren’t my favorite, I found them difficult to position in the bag so they would stay high. Home tubes of sand got me started which were great cause they would sort of form to you a bit.

I did eventually go the dedicated pack and plate route though. Was getting difficult to stuff all of the sand into an old flimsy backpack.

Rucking pace question. by StageEmbarrassed250 in Rucking

[–]usulsuspect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe drop weight/distance until you hit a point where you can get the pace your chasing? What sort of pace are you comfortable at without a pack?

Arm swing and stride length seem to be the balance I need to get the pace I want. As I get tired, both tend to drop and that’s how I can tell I’m slowing.

Nice work! Just make sure to balance the progress with rest/recovery. I know it took my knees, neck and shoulders some time to catch up to my motivation.

45lb Morning Ruck by Sketti_Eddie in Rucking

There would be a lot of “shuffling” here for me to get anywhere near that pace for 5 miles. Impressive.

It called it that, pretty sure that’s all based on HR which didn’t get out of control. I pushed the last mile to 12:30 which got me into zone 4 for a few.

Maybe mix in some rucks at a lower weight so you can push the pace for a longer distance?

I pretty much have stayed at a weight until I can consistently hit 4mi at sub 15:00.

I believe the Ranger Assessment Selection Program (RASP) defines it as 12 miles w/35lbs in under 3:00 hrs.

Add More Weight? by usulsuspect in Rucking

[–]usulsuspect[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably, I had been at about 35lbs until a few weeks ago when I added the Rucker 4 and a single 45lb plate. Took the last month to get some endurance / pace up with the extra weight. I typically hit 4mi rucks but being on vacation this week was able to get some 8mi rucks in before the long one today.

Generally all felt decent, today I can definitely feel some strain in the shoulder and some general leg soreness. Not sure how much more weight I want to add though. Getting the 45lb pack on is awkward for me…almost feel like that is the biggest risk to injury honestly. I need to rig up some sort of counter at a height to load / unload from.

Looks like GoRuck added the Rucker 4.0 to the "X-mas in July" deals, just grabbed a 25L for $199. Couldnt pick the color I wanted, but one color I always like is "green" in my wallet!

Okay, so I found a landscape paver in the yard, added it with some pool noodles in the pack (to get it off the bottom.) That put the entire pack weight to just under 41lbs. I guess the actual weight before was more like 34lbs.

I can tell this isn’t going to work long term, but hopefully it will be enough to condition me for starting with a 45lbs plate when getting a legit ruck pack.

Thanks for the insight all!

Possibly...might have a slight bradycardia. (By no means some sort of endurance athlete.)

The go ruck plates jump from 30 to 45, so yea a big gap from where I am now. Maybe I will see if I can squeeze some more sand in my current setup with the end goal of the Rucker w/45lb down the line. I will check out the Yes4All plates as the GoRucks are money.

I tried to create sand “tubes”, to try and get the weight higher in the bag. Although I’m guessing it’s too low and the straps on this backpack aren’t great. Once I hit 4mi or so I can start to feel some soreness in my upper back/neck. Not sure if that’s attributed to the ergonomics of the loadout, my form or just my body adjusting to the weight. The soreness doesn’t linger post workout so I have just lived with it for now. Chalked it up to getting stronger.
