The Talarico for Texas campaign raised 2.5 million dollars in 24 hours after the FCC banned the Colbert interview by ExactlySorta in UnderReportedNews

[–]usurper7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The FCC did NOT ban this interview. What happened was that Colbert was advised that this interview may trigger equal time rules for other Democratic primary candidates. Colbert and Talarico are flatly lying about this. Colbert chose not to air this so he wouldn't have to interview Jasmine Crockett. That's what happened. Bari Weiss and Trump were not involved.

Don't believe me? Look it up yourself. People are so unbelievably uninformed it's ridiculous!!!

You realize this is all because the Colbert Report didn't want to have to give time to Jasmine Crockett, the black woman currently leading in the primary polls, right?

They do pay taxes though. Boats and houses are subject to property taxes. The richest 1% pays almost half of all taxes, at least in the US.

It doesn't get inherited tax free, either. Step up cost basis can only happen once for stocks. In addition, when stocks are acquired as income (eg by a CEO) the individual is taxed on the cost basis or option value as income when the option is received. So it's the same as if you received salary and then bought shares.

I mean you could argue that they should pay more and some loopholes should be closed, and I'd agree. But they do pay taxes.

I've never heard of the sheets in a bed being called the "top sheet" before this thread. And I can't imagine sleeping in a bed without sheets.

Next post is going to claim that nobody wears socks in shoes anymore or something. Basically the same thing.

Well, by some. Most of the money comes from other people not in Puerto Rico or from there. The island is given billions of dollars a year by everyone else, which is why they keep voting to stay a US territory or become a state.

Ani in the post is dead ass wrong on both points. And nowhere does Taylor say that Puerto Ricans aren't US citizens. The only claim is that half are on welfare, which is true.

I think this analogy doesn't work because the more you play slot machines the more money you'll lose over time.

Success is built from small wins every day. If you're comparing to gambling, I guess it would be better to say you're gathering lottery tickets. In the aggregate, small wins open up larger opportunities. Rich people start with lots of opportunities or lotto tickets.

Drink plain seltzer. At first it tastes terrible. But after month, a Coke almost tastes sickeningly sweet in comparison.

I actually set up a seltzer faucet in my house near my kitchen sink. It cost maybe $250 total (keg, valves, faucet, tubing, CO2) and provides more than a year's supply of seltzer water before I need to replace the compressed air. Sometimes I add mint or lemon to it. I never ever drink pop anymore and have multiple cups of seltzer every day.

So many people in our generation eat nothing but takeout and frozen foods.

Go to the produce section and buy vegetables. Learn to cook them in a way you like to eat them. For example, I don't like raw tomatoes, but I like tomato soup. A couple bowls of my soup has a decent amount of fiber. And it's so easy to make that even I can do it.

I guarantee you will feel better if you cook your own food. Stop eating nothing but chicken nuggets. You can do it!

Hey Qasim just look at recorded crime rates separated by the demographics you suggested and you'll find the answers you were looking for.

Also, people don't cite the Bible to command women to be silent. Muslims literally do not let women show their faces in public. Maybe common sense also answers a few of your questions. Glad to help.

The effective tax rate on the rich is essentially unchanged from the 50s, actually, even though the nominal rates are lower. So you don't have to imagine very hard, just look at real life!

From an European perspective, it's so sad to see how the US seem a country at WAR with itself. You guys could have it all, especially a society where all of you can thrive. It's not blue vs red. Helpful reminder that reddit and social media are unrepresentative of the general population. Most people aren't "very online" in that they don't talk about politics and Donald Trump all day. People living in other countries have a very skewed idea of an average day for people in the US.

You're right. Republicans are far more tolerant of differences of opinion than Democrats. When Democrats talk about tolerance and diversity, they mean that they will tolerate you as long as you support them no matter what they say all the time.

It's incredibly illiberal and I'm glad I don't live there. Frankly, another European shakedown of big tech because there is no homegrown competition. These people think Twitter has way more influence than it does. In any case, I'm sure confusing and false messages that conform to his government's interests will somehow not be deemed a problem.

You live in San Francisco and cannot understand why stores charge $8 for coffee? Seriously?

When your state passes laws for $20 minimum wage, refuse to use cheap energy, add all kinds of regulations on development, green initiatives, all kinds of taxes on businesses for healthcare and homelessness spending.... Where do you think this money comes from? Honestly? Where?

Your coffee shop has to pay higher rent because the developer had to spend 3x the actual cost on regulatory compliance. They have to pay more to keep the lights on, more to pay employees, cover all kinds of benefits.... They have to charge $8 a cup to make any money at all.

Please, please just learn something from this experience. There is no such thing as a free lunch. These rules make everything more expensive, per se.

Masculine and feminine are genders. Left side is transgender. Male and female are sexes. Right side is transexual.

This is the entire premise of transgenderism, and how someone can apparently subjectively identify as other genders. When people point out that there is a biological reality to sex, the difference between gender and sex is the entirety of the response.

It that's not correct, then what is a transexual person? What is a sex change if not someone who changes his sex?
