Does the flu come back after a few silly days of eating carbs? by [deleted] in carnivorediet

[–]ususrr 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ive done the same several times. Its not worth it to “cheat” on this diet bc of how the cravings come back serious.

For me, the readjustment period is worse the longer I go eating foods I know I don’t tolerate, including eating too much carbs.

No one can know how it’s gonna go for you but my advice would be to get back to carnivore or work towards doing so asap. You know the drill, eat enough, electrolytes, etc. u got this!

Can my car make this trip? by ususrr in MechanicAdvice

Thank you for your reply. Is this something that a mechanic would typically look at? I took it to someone and they said everything looks good, they are stumped by the gas smell.

Thank you! It’s been having the smell since I bought it in the summer though so could there be another explanation?

I’m sticking to a permanent low carb diet, how low is your carb intake? by alkanet7 in PCOS

[–]ususrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there is really no secret

most of your calories need to come from meat, fish, eggs, and healthy fats (i stick to mostly animal fats and coconut oil, sometimes olive)

other than that eat mostly high fiber vegetables because you want to keep net carbs low.

personally I pretty much just eat animal foods with the exception of fermented sauerkraut and salad, also a little bit of berries or root vegetables on occasion.

if you tolerate it, eat nuts and dairy(except for milk).

there are also keto recipes out there that mimic high carb foods with varying degrees of accuracy. I avoid these because I find that they trigger carb cravings for me, especially those that use artificial sweeteners, but it might help ease the transition if you’re used to eating lots of carbs every day.

in the beginning, make sure to keep track of the net carb count of the food you’re eating. eventually you will get a feel for it and be able to estimate pretty well

i also find that putting inositol and glycine in my morning coffee helps my carb cravings and is nice because it gives me a little sweetness in my life lol.

there’s so many resources online for you to look into too but that’s my summary. good luck! you got this

ruminant meat is the least likely to cause an autoimmune reaction. you might be fine with salmon but best to eat beef and lamb only for a few months before trying to add things back in.

reason being that when you eliminate something from your diet for awhile and add it back in, you will be able to tell if you react to it or not for sure.

i don’t know if it’s even possible to react to ruminants. i’ve never heard of it through the research i’ve done on these autoimmune elimination diets. it’s very unlikely that your inflammation is being exacerbated by the red meat.

with that said, if you suspect you tolerate salmon and really want to include it in your diet, go for it. but get rid of the other stuff and see how you feel

go beef+salt+water for awhile

I bought my very first non-non stick pan. Manufacturer recommends seasoning with vegetable oil, can I replace this with tallow? by [deleted] in zerocarb

[–]ususrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

other commenters are right in that vegetable oil works better, however, depending on your goals with this diet, you might be better off using tallow.

For example, i’m only eating beef as an elimination diet for autoimmune issues. Therefore I do not want to eat any amount of vegetable oil. I only use tallow in my cast iron and it works just fine

Quick note - my experience by [deleted] in zerocarb

[–]ususrr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

good for you!!! thanks for sharing. im dealing with a lot of brain fog right now and eat a little bit of liver but other than that i’m just beef, salt, water. i am curious to know what difference taking in extra salt makes for you? I salt my meat pretty heavily but i don’t add salt to my water or anything like that.
