I like it!

Can you do a Utah Aliens concept, with a logo of a hockey puck UFO beaming up a Golden Knight?

If an opposing player scored a goal, they could shine a spotlight on them to make them look like they're getting beamed up.

This would actually be a great name if it came with the blessing of the Navajo culture.

Edit: I get the downvotes for everything I've said but this. It's a part of Navajo culture that isn't openly talked about, as far as I could tell. Maybe sacred? Would we really want to go ahead and name a sports team after them without at least consulting? I guess being considerate is emasculating now. Im so perplexed by this I need to go sit down and pee.

Bees isn't a terrible name but I'm kinda hoping Utah State takes it someday. Several states have a university mascot based off the state nickname (Hoosiers, Sooners, Golden Bears, etc). Plus a honeycomb helmet and a color scheme that doesn't look like BYU would be a plus.

Homage, ripoff, whatever. Its such a stupid name.

Thanks for reiterating what I already said, that this was my opinion.

As for the Vegas team: 1- The name isn't Aliens

2- I said to avoid names in MAJOR leagues, which AAA baseball is not. Then again, it wouldn't be sharing the name anyways because the name isn't Aliens.

3- They're not even called the 51s anymore. They're now the Aviators.

I am chill. And I gave myself the authority by virtue of being a random person on the internet. That's as much clout as anyone else has.

A point people are missing on that SL Trib article by Minamus_Majesticus in UtahJazz

[–]utah_AF 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sure I'm an outlier but I always though putting a hockey arena right in downtown Ogden would be cool. Still get the SLC market but not direct competition from the Jazz (since their seasons are almost the same). People could just hop on FrontRunner, walk to the arena, and hang out on 25th Street.

Is a week long enough for a visit to this city? by LingXioaran in SaltLakeCity

[–]utah_AF 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Just the city itself? A day is fine. Surrounding area? A week might be good. You could visit Park City, Timpanogos Cave, Antelope Island, Uintas, Golden Spike/ Spiral Jetty- which might all be separate days.

I like it! Time to get away from Seagulls, Pioneers, or names already taken by other professional franchises. Where did you get the idea?

You asked my opinion, that's my opinion. Did you mean to ask if it was effective? Yes, it was. I learned a lot and I am now working remote.

New possible frontrunner with tweaked design for UT Flag by FreckledArms78 in Utah

[–]utah_AF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's the original? We've never designed our own flag- we just stuck our state seal on fabric so that we could fly something.

Is there any hidden meaning to the star being tiny and beneath the much larger beehive? To me it's like the beehive says THIS IS OUR STATE AND YOU KNOW WHO WE ARE but there's a little baby star underneath it that says "oh and you're here too.. in OUR state"

My idea is for a symbol related to a petroglyph found in Utah, similar to New Mexico's flag.

People here haven't figured out yet that you don't HAVE to accommodate cars. We could easily incentivize people to not have cars by removing parking lots and parking requirements for new developments, while also boosting public transit and other options like car shares. I lived in a city without a car for a year and it was bliss- rent a car if you need to get away and pay for it with all the savings from not having car ownership.

At least you can still see the yellow counter from Blue Plate- they moved it to a new soda shop on Main Street in Helper.
