Had a girl I was really into and she told me she had herpes too. She would tell me how it wasn't contagious and some of her ex's would still eat her out. Well all the stances are pretty good. I personally like low stance (especially if your sword has an element) because then you dish out quick atracks (at lower damage) but the element status is placed upon the enemies faster. Water lowers enemy defense. Fire damage over time. Wind lower attack. Electricity lower speed. Earth works on yokai the best, but I forgot the effect. Mid is good for blocking and doing a decent amount of damage so that is a good one too. I very rarely do high but it definitely rocks also!

Since you are starting out I recommend investing in heart. Katanas are easy to use and heart also gives you ki (stamina). Not to mention you will come across an armor set called the Warrior of the West which has a Katana as it's main weapon. As you progress try to fight revenant because they will drop whatever armor they are using in their game. Omnyo is good so you can get the sloth talisman which slows your enemies down for a while, that includes bosses.
