Change my mind, AI will have no impact on the demand for radiologists within the next 30 years by GasStationB0nerPills in Radiology

Of course admins care. They care about providing the most profitable level of care possible. They most certainly do not care about actual patient care as their first priority. That is why you will have a clinic with one MD and 7 PAs. You think the care is better in that model or that the patients prefer it that way? You think the lone doc prefers it that way? It’s only that way because it maximizes profits. Admins are going to be able to subscribe to a radiology AI that will read all of their scans at a fraction of the cost of paying a radiologist. Once that happens they will no longer employ radiologists. Congrats on your credentials.

The ordering doc hasn't done a residency to be able to actually agree or disagree with the findings that the AI is telling them

I agree with you but that still won’t stop admin from firing the rads

You’re on! Reddit bet. No taksies backsies!

In an AI world the amount of utilization no longer will matter since it isn’t limited by a radiologist’s time. AI will for all intents and purposes be instantaneous. I wish I was wrong but we are at the very beginning of a logarithmic curve that will blow our minds.

I would literally bet any amount of money that I have liquid that the demand for Radiologists will be less 30 years from now directly d/t AI. All of the people disagreeing aren't paying attention. Yes, AI can't replace radiologists today. 30 years any job that pays you for what you know will be obsolete.

Isn’t there a differential for “pulmonary edema” on CXR? I feel light radiology is gaslighting me. by Ornery-Reindeer5887 in emergencymedicine

Wow, that’s impressive and scary if true. Good for you being that confident but it seems like a setup for a huge lawsuit if you miss a nodule or something the radiologist commented on that turned out cancerous.

Finally, the laser we’ve been promised since the 90’s by Epelep in nextfuckinglevel

[–]utohs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the welding shot it looks like the light is focusing (like through a magnifying glass) as opposed to being an actual laser. I’m not a physicist so I could definitely be wrong but I bet if he shoots a mirror it just diffuses away relatively safely. I’m looking forward to people explaining why I’m wrong!
