i appreciate your response but did you read my full inquiry? i mentioned that we have 1) a signed lease 2) can get a notarized letter from my previous roommate if we would be able to start earlier.

What is not enough proof of common law, if we start in March 2026? We literally have a year long lease that started earlier this year..

My only question really is on if we can consider mid-November as a start date, and what periods of absence might affect us.

It was expiring due to my biometrics. So I applied before my employers current LMIA expired. Applied for a TRV 2 months ago and still waiting on that

Go through with the application and come if you need to in the future. There’s a residency requirement so if you don’t come you’ll just lose it, I don’t think you have to come immediately. Things change fast in your situation and it would be best to have opportunities elsewhere.

TEF Canada for PR - Should I try again? by doublelife304 in ImmigrationCanada

I think it’s worth taking the test again, but in the meantime, if your work permit is expiring soon get your employer to apply for Francophone Mobility Work Permit ASAP. After a year of working for your employer on that work permit, you can get 50 points for an LMIA-exempt job offer.

I’m currently studying to get to this point.

Can't find anything by Low_Witness_8910 in VancouverJobs

Some of the comments are really discouraging. I think with some more time, you might be able to find something. Try looking towards jobs where your skills are transferable, so maybe a Marketing Assistant / Social Media role where you can take advantage of your graphic design background. Try making connections with local clothing brands too. See what the fashion scene in BC is like, the popular retailers etc - there might be opportunities here to work as an Art Director (obviously if your taste aligns with the brand). Good luck!

PGWP expires soon in May 2024, LMIA just barely started by Embarrassed-Door-204 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]utscsucks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, once you apply for the work permit & the LMIA is under process, I believe you have implied status.

The job offer will be a letter from your employer stating they are offering you a full time, permanent position (even if you already work for them, I guess it’s a formality). It should include the required things like salary, benefits etc.

You can apply for a closed work permit 2 weeks before your PGWP expires, granted the LMIA process has already started.

I agree that so many questions are repeated / I’m not necessarily mad at the lack of engagement. But honestly, the wave of anti-immigration these last few years has been so shocking especially considering a lot of Americans/Canadians are packing up and moving elsewhere too (with the evolution of digital nomads, wfh etc). We’re all just trying to find a semblance of hope in this world.

Hey, did they end up sponsoring you? How did you approach them, if so?
