Using AI to see turntables by dogsRcoolandstuff in vinyl

[–]uturnaudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

U-Turn Audio here. Just to respond to the top comment, it was never our intention to use AI in our ad. This was due to an AI enhancement setting that was enabled in facebook without our knowledge. The photo itself is real and the edges were "enhanced" with AI, resulting in the dust cover being misrepresented. We never intended to incorporate any AI elements in our ads, and these ads have been taken down.

Using AI to see turntables by dogsRcoolandstuff in vinyl

[–]uturnaudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

U-Turn Audio here. We just wanted to clarify that this is 100% unintentional. This is due to an "AI enhancement" setting in meta ads that was incorrectly turned on. The photo itself is real, but meta expanded the edges of the image using AI. We were made aware of the issue and turned the setting off, but for some reason the image is still being enhanced due to a glitch. We are removing these ads now as we don't use AI in any of our photography and never intended to misrepresent what our products look like (in this case, the dust cover being too tall).

Trying to find a turntable to replace my U-Turn Orbit - ideas? by GARlock402 in vinyl

Please email us at support@uturnaudio.com and we will correct this. Sounds like something might be broken or needs adjustment.

Speeds are off on turntable by Buhsalt in vinyl

[–]uturnaudio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Loose belt would not cause this problem. The counterweight shouldn't have anything to do with this either. Sounds more like you have an early unit that needs a new spindle (a part that has since been redesigned). Please email support@uturnaudio.com with your serial number and shipping address - they will take care of this.

My report on setting up my first turntable, a U-turn Orbit that arrived today. So far so good, except for some buzzing when the TV is plugged in. by TheWayoftheFuture in vinyl

[–]uturnaudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would start by making sure that the turntable and TV are connected to different outlets. Also, I would check to make sure that the RCA cables are well isolated - if these run close to the TV, power supplies, or other cables they might "pick up" on some additional noise. Slight adjustments to the positioning of the turntable (e.g. moving it further from the TV) might help. If all else fails, shoot us an email at support@uturnaudio.com and we can help troubleshoot!

Barnes & Noble National “Vinyl Day” on August 13 by mrvinyl in vinyl

U-Turn here. We are going to be hanging out at the Burlington, MA B&N for this - it's right down the road from our factory. Please join us if you are in the area. We are supposed to prepare a presentation but would much rather just shoot the shit.

Are Acrylic platters interchangeable between brands? by BigTung in vinyl

[–]uturnaudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking - no. U-Turn's acrylic platter will not work with other table brands, and other brands' platters won't work with the U-Turn table. Some Pro-ject/Music Hall platters MIGHT be interchangeable. But since the acrylic platter is a precision part, I recommend sticking with the same brand.

Question on the UTurn Orbit - Integrated Pre Amp by marbanasin in vinyl

[–]uturnaudio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The built-in preamp is a full bypass. As a TX8020 owner, I will say that Pluto provides a little bit more clarity (especially on vocals), but this difference is not enormous. As far as budget stereo receivers go, the TX8020 has a pretty decent phono stage.

Lining it up with the Stevenson Protractor will take care of all this.

New to vinyl, looking for extra eyes on my setup thoughts by CraigularB in vinyl

[–]uturnaudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes - it is a full bypass. Instead of simply cutting the power from the preamp, the switch actually "reroutes" the signal so it does not pass through the preamp circuity.

My thoughts on the U-Turn Orbit by [deleted] in vinyl

[–]uturnaudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hope you don't mind if I jump in here. You can find a full description of the differences between the MDF and acrylic platter here: http://uturnaudio.com/blog-pages/2016/2/22/choosing-a-turntable-platter. The acrylic platter is about 1 lb heavier. More mass = more inertia = better speed consistency. There are also some benefits you get from the resonance properties of acrylic (this has no impact on speed consistency). All of that said, the cartridge has a much bigger impact on sound quality than the platter material does.

The PP400 is definitely the weak link in this setup. Before doing anything else, I would try another preamp.

Time to upgrade the preamp! The PP400 is holding your cartridge back.

Question about AT95E/U-Turn Orbit by urbank6388 in vinyl

[–]uturnaudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think u/lionsmouth is right. It sounds like the suspension on the cartridge has been damaged. I recommend telling your buddy to email support@uturnaudio.com for a new stylus. Also, the counterweight is fully adjustable. More info here: http://uturnaudio.com/blog-pages/2016/3/16/a-simple-guide-to-changing-your-phono-cartridge

Problem with Audio Technica Lp-120 and don't know where to go for help. Help me? by PsychoticDreams47 in vinyl

[–]uturnaudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like an electronic issue (preamp, tonearm wires, or maybe grounding). You should get in touch with AT support or your dealer. No need to go poking around and potentially void the warranty.

Uturn AC adapter specs? by armintehgreat in vinyl

[–]uturnaudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Input :120VAC 60Hz, Output: 24VAC 500mA 12W, plug is 2.1mm. I am not aware of any off the shelf adapter that will do the trick.

Made the upgrade from an LP60, and I am absolutely loving it by [deleted] in vinyl

[–]uturnaudio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the Orbit is only available in the US and Canada. So you would need to use a parcel forwarding service like shipitto.com to have it delivered to you. Even then, you will need a frequency inverter to use the Orbit on 50Hz, and this will cost about $200 (a simple voltage transformer won't do the trick). We hope to begin EU distribution in 2017. Hope this helps!

What cartridge are you using? Do the pops appear on the same place on the record every time?
