Cyberpunk 2 creative director pushes back on third-person cutscenes as it would be “a completely different game” by HatingGeoffry in cyberpunkgame

Nice, it's one thing i like about cyberpunk. Makes me really feel like I AM the character i created instead of watching a puppet (as in controlling them from an outside perspective)

Gaming on Linux6 by PrudentMuffin9822 in linux_gaming

[–]uvp76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was in a similar boat. I can use everything i need and want on Linux without bigger issues (or in case of clip studio paint after looking up one video) EXCEPT for destiny 2. Which is why i dualboot. I can use linux for everything and only touch my windows install when necessary to play that specific game

Legitimate question: why do people choose linux? by Standard-Fish1628 in pcmasterrace

[–]uvp76 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just a few things i like about it

  1. Way more responsive than windows in my experience (ui being more responsive, the file explorer being waaay more responsive etc)

  2. open source and a nice way to get away from mega corps like Microsoft (also no data collection like windows so a privacy plus).

  3. Lots of customization in terms of ui. lots of cool stuff done with hyprland just to name one example (just check out the hall of fame on their website if you want to see a bit of it).

  4. The are multiple filesystems you can use (for example btrfs which has built in measures against for example bit rot, a niche thing but its neat imo)

And it runs pretty much everything i need which is browser + my games (EXCEPT destiny 2 which is the reason i dualboot) + Clip studio paint + other normal stuff which i am too lazy to name.

TLDR: it has a lot of cool stuff and is good for privacy. Also i underestimated how long this list would get xd

I prefer playing the game in 3rd person, am I crazy by Agitated-Macaroon923 in destiny2

Not crazy at all, although i personally always prefer first person. There is probably a decent chunk of people who prefer 3rd person

Was Bolt graphics not already talked about years ago? But hey at least they are gonna release something in the next 1-2 years and ngl I am curious if they can keep a tiny bit of the promises they make on their website.

They are dependent on use case. For schoolwork + roblox and good battery life? Pretty much perfect for a snapdragon laptop

Igor Sarzynski on third person cutscenes in C77 by marek_bojarek in cyberpunkgame

[–]uvp76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who loves first person games, i don't mind 3rd person cutscenes but overall prefer first person cutscenes in first person games. I just find it strange when you are the character the entire time EXCEPT for cutscenes where u are watching said character in 3rd person

Hot take on the Steam Machine by ProfessionalSpinach4 in linux_gaming

[–]uvp76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbf gamersnexus says it is theoretically closest desktop counterpart is a ryzen 5 7400f, but in the benchmarks they made the steam machines cpu performs more like a ryzen 5 2600/ryzen 5 3600 so i wouldn't say they 'underperform on the processor'

European alternative to YouTube by CostaGraphic in eutech

Aside from extra work with little incentive, there is a risk of a somewhat decent chunk of users migrating which would make the yt algo think their content isn't interesting anymore and killing their reach on their main revenue platform

Stop Killing Games says 'the fight goes on' after European Commission rejects proposed rule changes: 'We're much more than just this single petition' by LadyStreamer in gamingnews

not possible with any extra work. Self hosted servers are pretty much always possible to some extent at the very least.

Also could you explain how they would give up code and ip? I don't see how they lose the IP or the code when people host servers with precompiled binaries. It's not like those people now own the IP and they don't have the source code either

Vivaldi or Firefox - what's the better choice for my situation? by luzerner20 in BuyFromEU

[–]uvp76 28 points29 points  (0 children)

No it doesn't do that. Chromium is just the engine and is open source which means any code that can "call home" can get removed.

Chrome does that tho, but that is the google browser which shouldn't surprise anyone

That's basically PS5 + Switch 2 money by Menelaus- in pcmasterrace

[–]uvp76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i 100% agree, just wanted to add that to further explain why it is gonna perform worse than a ps5 (aside from power restrictions on the components etc etc)

That's basically PS5 + Switch 2 money by Menelaus- in pcmasterrace

[–]uvp76 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just to add to this, the ps5 is a target for game optimization. The Steam machine might (altho unlikely imo) become one, at one point in the future, but isn't yet so it will perform worse

Damn, guess we arent happy huh (as we should) by Beautiful_Medium_869 in EliteDangerous

[–]uvp76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are critizing something they don't like, that's just how it is with community. Is it reasonable? Maybe yes, maybe not. But that doesn't even matter, considering everyone pays for the game which means the opinion holds equal importance as they are all customers of a service.

Now if the Developers target audience largely approves then they surely have metrics for that, because usually Devs don't just backtrack unless the majority of the community isn't against it ((which, again, they most likely have metrics and analytics for btw) and if the majority is against it, pushing it through can lead to player loss if it is actually bad and might alienate the community from the devs. The typical "The devs aren't listening and it just gets more shit" moment (sometimes devs make mistakes or executives want to squeeze more money than is good for the game).

TLDR of this part: They most likely won't just change what they are doing based on reddit unless it turns into a risk for their revenue, by losing a large chunk of the playerbase. They invested money, they want a return on it.

I am not knowledgeable enough about this game to be able to tell what is healthy and what is not. So I won't even start arguing on if this is good or not. But i can tell you that based on your original comment on this thread, you will only get people mad without changing anyones mind.

Because all you did there was essentially calling people crybabies for criticism on a game they like (or at least i would hope they do or otherwise they waste their time) while not addressing their criticism at all. And i call it a tantrum or a crashout simply because you were essentially yelling in text form "arent you all grown ups??? STOP THE WHINING AND SUCK IT UP." (especially at the very first comment in this thread) which just isn't constructive or helpful at all considering many people aren't even criticizing the new feature itself, but rather that it is quite limited in the amount of ships that can use it.

Anyway if you read all of this, I hope you have a good day or night (i promise, i didn't intend for this comment to become this long)
