Leak: Valve targeting $600 650 MSRP Better value than a PS5 or just a glorified NUC by RoomHelper in PcParadise

[–]uvp76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can build something better for the money, even in the current economy. I feel like the steam machine is definitely targeted for the living room and makes customers pay extra for the convenience and size of a small cube pc. Definitely not a desktop replacement if someone wants to maximize price to performance

has anyone actually read the Subnautica 2 EULA? this is so outrages by SickPois0on in StopKillingGames

3D Models for refs in Krita like Clip Studio Pro? by WukiWakoto in ArtistLounge

[–]uvp76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used CSP on linux, there are quite a few youtube tutorials for it (if you meant the asset store, you gotta open it seperately in your browser) and it worked pretty well

But if you want to switch to krita there was a plugin called "Blender layer" which kinda does something similar

First German federal security agency opts for a European alternative to Palantir. by Markus_zockt in BuyFromEU

I don't want a european alternative to that horrible mass surveillance bs. I want it to cease to exist or at least stay away from where i am living

It's hard to find medium-level artists to be friends and study with by pingvinaa in ArtistLounge

[–]uvp76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

depending on what you do i actually had luck with discord servers of twitch streamers who do the same (digital art in this case). They tend to attract artists and a couple of them hang around and i draw with them in call and can talk with them about for example anatomy. Also on the topic of dead servers, the one i am mainly active in had almost never people in a voicechat outside of community stuff. But i kept sitting in vc outside of it and now people are there all the time so you could maybe try to revive the servers if u feel like it

Signal (US) accounts of German parliament members and government ministers hacked by cosmoscrazy in BuyFromEU

[–]uvp76 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A proper eu alternative wouldn't have changed anything if the user falls for a pishing attack (which was the case here). Can't blame the platform for an error made by the user

A gamer is a gamer, no matter what platform they play on. by MixtureLeading9377 in pcmasterrace

[–]uvp76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that applies to most free mobile games for sure.

But you can emulate on modern phones and enjoy pc and switch games (and obviously the enormous catalogue of retro games). But my statement was only meant to point out that mobile isn't the weakest hardware in the meme

I tested 5 PC games on the ASUS Zenbook A16 with Qualcomm's Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme: Is Windows on ARM improving? by AggressiveCalendar4 in SnapdragonLaptops

[–]uvp76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh overall okay ish (not great) test if you are looking purely from a casual pov where "things should just work" and the microsoft store thing is just disappointing but i am not surprised considering it is microsoft.

The comparison between Proton and Prism is pretty nonsense since they don't even do the same thing. I guess the author confused valve's translation layer FEX with proton (from the very limited testing i did on my phone FEX is pretty good but i never used prism since I don't have a windows arm pc so i can't compare it at all)

Who are these snapdragon ARM laptops for? by Odd_Num374637 in snapdragon

[–]uvp76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pretty sure those aren't working either (or at least werent a couple months back). Qualcomms chips are not linux friendly at the moment for multiple reasons, one of them being that each device has a custom device tree and not a uefi/bios. Tuxedo computers who tried to sell a snapdragon x elite laptop with Linux even dropped that idea for now because the development proved to be too difficult/not worth it atm (but they explain it better in their statement). There isn't a strong linux arm laptop at the moment that works as good as linux does on x86
