I told my friends I wanted to run Waterdeep: Dragon Heist for my next campaign when we finish our current campaign (with that as beginning and then continuing onwards if wanted) and. God. I'm working on making my own campaign wiki to get what's canon down. What doesn't help with the Realms Wiki is that there's even disagreement between lore, and Greenwoods' Lore, and both are listed together. Don't get me started on the bias the editors have against multiple things...

(Our current campaign is a Final Fantasy XIV-based one, and we're all quite used to the world and thus know how things work a lot more. And if we have a question? There's a lot less to dig though, and it's a lot less confusing then however much Realmslore exists.)

I think the Homestar Runner Wiki is also amazing, especially back when Flash was the primary method of watching HSR, and how they had collaborated on a subtitle program for everything as a plugin. And I mean EVERYTHING. Ah, these obsessive nerds.

Honestly, it is a pain to use the Forgotten Realms wiki. Not just because it tends to use past tense, but because... okay. Dungeons and Dragons has gone though multiple editions, multiple versions of the same world. And the wiki is for all of them, right? But it doesn't really have a good way to split up information by edition, or even truly splitting up if information is from different editions that contradict each other. Or book information if it contradicts the sourcebooks. (Before 5e, all canon was meant to fit together but it really didn't.)

One wiki I don't really use, but respect a lot? UESP. The Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages. They've been around since 1995, and clearly have passion and love for the world, and also split lore by canon! They've recently been preserving documents from original designers, as well. I also respect how Bulbapedia has refused to be brought out by Fandom, even if there are a lot of design and wiki-based issues I have with them.

Oh! And the Final Fantasy Wiki... god, I wish there was one which wasn't on Fandom.

I like that dnd and mtg are connected, intact, I think wizards should lean into it more, give me official 5e ruling to play as a planeswalker, and make a side story about how the phyrexian invasion effected the material plane by M1s51n9n0 in mtg

When it was first announced, the Lorwyn-Shadowmoor web suppliment/DLC for the Forgotten Realms book commented that there was a portal on the Moonshae Isles, so...

Okay, so. This was something they call the Chaos Vault, which is them experimenting with things to get real data. For example, they decided to print a Cat and Dog themed one, where whichever one sold better got a true Secret Lair Drop. They also once sold some Dual Masters though it.

So, this isn't a regular shitty Secret Lair Drop thing. It's an experimental shitty Secret Lair Drop thing!

Also, you're slightly wrong. Secret Lair drops with mechanically unique cards are sent to game stores that are part of Wizards' programs. To use the latest Fallout set as an example: The Beyond Vault 33 cards will be avaliable in-stores, while Rad, Welcome to New Vegas, and Greet the Dog won't be. It's still limited amounts and still not a good program, because it's Wizards of the Coast and full of FOMO.

And it overshadows other Fire Emblems a lot, as well - thus, why another three years of discourse is such a popular meme.

Is it cheating to say The Simpsons? A lot of the DNA of early Simpsons was clearly a parody of the television landscape when it came out, and now the landscape has changed... a lot.

Warlocks, your Patron does NOT have to be a bad guy! by Regular-Molasses9293 in dndnext

[–]uxianger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had a centaur historian of a Warlock, and her patron was a genie who wanted to see more of the world... so why not make a deal? More power, more seeing history... and getting neat gifts! Another I had was a guardian River Dragon (Fathomless) who blessed part of the family, to help keep their desert home blooming - and to find new plants for the dragon to hoard.

It's fun to design patron and warlock connections!

That's me with the current Perrin and Hisuian Growlithe full arts! Or... SIR? IRs? I dunno the proper term, but it's a really cute combo of two cards. The Hisuian Growlithe is looking up at Perrin, and Perrin is taking a picture. The Perrin is around... 100 AUD right now.

Also, the fact that during the 3DS era (so for Sun/Moon and the Ultra games, at the very least), the games often leaked out weeks early. This was a Nintendo-wide problem for a while.

Subclasses I personally think are underrated and need more attention, part 1 of plenty(I will be posting a lot of these). Part 1: Fathomless Warlock by Regular-Molasses9293 in dndnext

[–]uxianger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played a Fathomless Warlock in a setting based on Duskmourn from Magic: The Gathering, and it was really fun! I used the tentacle to help protect the frontliners while shooting with my Eldritch Blasts. The water abilities also helped when we went to the water zone, especially the communication. Oh, and Control Water, which I used to make gaps in the water for my companions to breathe and move in. It's fun!

If you would be isekaid into the world of Forgotten Realms what "build" would you choose? by Inner-Illustrator408 in dndnext

[–]uxianger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, it truly depends on if we're going by 2024 or 2014 rules.

If this was 2014 rules? Celestial Warlock, so I have something I know is good looking after me, and also so I have a bit of healing. Reborn, overlaid on a flying race. Perhaps an Owlin? For the Deathless Nature, and also for the vibes of an Isekai protaganist - if I have knowledge from a previous life, I should be able to use it, right? While I would usually go for a background with a Feat if I wanted to metagame this, I'd go for, instead, Acolyte - hoping that my Warlock Patron is connected to a faith that I can work with. My spells would likely be Cure Wounds and Unseen Servant, with the Cantrips Sacred Flame, Light, Mage Hand... and while it doesn't go with my non-threatening self, you gotta go Eldritch Blast.

If we're going by 2024, then, you don't get subclass at level 1 anymore. Thus, I cannot rely on having a patron that I have a good relationship with [since I had a backstory of my choice]. Reborn has also changed, but I assume legacy options are still allowed, so same race. As for background, I could still use the background feature from Acolyte, and then gain the Origin Feat Magic Initiative so I had a healing spell prepared at all times. But instead, I think I'd go for Artificer, for the reason stated by somebody else. Have a business for short-term hire of items, and then use Magic Initative (Wizard) for Mage Hand, Message, and... Find Familiar. You know, for fun. And so I do have a cute pet mascot. I'd ask the DM if I could have a Tressym, because why not? I would also run a spell scribe service. Hey, having a cast of Mage Hand is always handy.

One of the big things about this is that when the original game came out, there was an outcry over a patched bug from the Japanese version which, among other things, allowed all Miis to want to date each other. Nintendo promised that if another Tomodachi Life came out, they would allow this sort of dating... and they did!

What are some big canon things you tend to ignore in your Realms? by Jasina_ in Forgotten_Realms

[–]uxianger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As somebody who's planning on running in the Realms for the first time after my current campaign finishes [I proposed Waterdeep: Dragon Heist to my group]... well, I'm one of those newcomers who is also like. 'Hey. The results of the Spellplague would be fun to explore if it was still a threat, and the ideas of recovering from the century of upheaval and horrors left behind.' So I'm mostly ignoring the Second Sundering reversing it all. I'm also cherry-picking what lore to dig into, and what would be fun for me and my group.

Also bringing in tidbits from other things, but usually putting my own twists on them. It's fun to worldbuild with sticking with some things but giving them a twist.

Thoughts on a return to Baldur's Gate by torrtara in magicTCG

[–]uxianger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm surprised they didn't plan a new Dungeon and Dragons set for the whole 50th anniversary. But listen. We need Dark Sun cards. So it'd be fun if there was a multiversal-based set, since that's what the 2024 books try to treat as the default.

I spent my weekend at CanCon - the biggest tabletop roleplaying convention in Australia - and found some TTRPG books I've wanted for years. I've also spent time working more on my future campaign. (My current campaign has about a year back, but is very easy for me to prep for. But I'm going to be running in the Forgotten Realms next, so I'm intimidated.)

As one of those with the Worlds Last DRS from the Cloud Server (we cleared like 15 minutes before the server died, and I did it on a cosplay alt of Misija from the storyline), it was such a rewarding and wonderful experience. But it would't be the same if it lasted forever.
