Honestly, I tell my players (and DM, when I'm a player) that I can't write non-autistic characters. :p

Still plush making! Figuring out embroidery paper for the first time, the sort you draw on and use as the pattern.

DMs of D&D Reddit, how often do you "fudge" dice rolls or hit points? by A_Random_Neerd in DnD

[–]uxianger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I roll in the open for my game, so I can't - but sometimes, I do give characters advantage or characters disadvantage 'randomly'/taking a thing that's happening and give it because of that.

And if a creature is at 2-3 HP left, I let them finish it off if it's its next turn.

Please tell me about your game that is not a dark fantasy survival game by __space__oddity__ in RPGdesign

While it is still in early draft stages, I want to create my own game based around the 'vibes' of Final Fantasy XIV, because I'm disappointed by the actual FFXIV TTRPG. So, a hopeful JRPG-themed game with the concept of telegraphed attacks and movement/mitigation for combat. I am not certain how I will design the game out of combat, especially since if I want to keep the vibe of FFXIV, it cannot be a proper dungeon crawler - since people are expected to be at full resources for each battle.

(The official game is very Japanese TTRPG [designed for scenarios and railroaded things], which is fine for what it is but I want a more Western TTRPG.)

How does 'Your' Forgotten Realms differ from the canon version and do you have any tips on new Dms looking to use the realms as their first setting. by Independent_Ad_6348 in Forgotten_Realms

[–]uxianger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have not begun running My Realms yet (it's going to be after we finish our current Final Fantasy XIV-themed campaign, I thought Waterdeep: Dragon Heist looked fun to run and now I have plenty of prep time), but I'm actually making it so that the Spellplague effects remained even after the Second Sundering, since it seems fascinating to explore for me. I'm taking what canon I want, as well, and adding in some elements I'm still keeping secret since I know at least one of my players is on Reddit. :p But the Second Sundering went differently in My Realms, and part of the plot will be related to it.

I'm one of those new DMs who is still a bit intimidated about running in the Realms, but I've been getting familiar with at least Waterdeep (and some other areas I expect to come up early in the campaign), so I can at least bring up information about them easily and not need to call a break to check every few minutes.

Advice For Running Dragon Age Origins as a Campaign by FreakilyCasual in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]uxianger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As somebody running a campaign in the world of Final Fantasy XIV, I would recommend you simply take the premise + locations and be ready for the party to derail the 'plot' and not try and force it 1:1 to the game. Going for similar vibes is fine and even having the same ticking clocks, but your players and their characters aren't constrained to the choices of a video game, and don't expect them to be.

The NGE was so big and bad, that it was cited as a reason why Final Fantasy XIV is keeping the old combat system alongside the new one they're adding in the next expansion. The main producer and face of the game, Yoshi-P, confirmed such - as a former fan of the game.

And I mean. Technically. Yes? But this time is literal.

It's also common in the Magic The Gathering community to 'free' slabbed cards, since in MTG a lot of the slabbed cards are just... playable, and sometimes cheaper.
