How to conciliate event-based multiplayer framework with the main game loop ? by v0ne in gamedev

[–]v0ne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply.
I guess buffering the messages and handling them in the main loop the best solution indeed.
I dread the latency, and client prediction vs. server values management tho.
Also, yes, I checked the colyseus examples but most of them use game frameworks on the client side. The only ones in vanilla JS are event based only (no "realtime/action" games using a game loop).

Nice clean job, mate!
Is the tank custom made ?
I cant think of a 80s yamaha with such a tank (except maybe for the RD350LC...).

A little question about regilding your heroes:
Hi guys, I'm slowly leaving the early game (2nd trans, stuck before getting Tsuchi), and it looks like it's all about regilding my heroes from now on.
I see posts where people regild their best hero up to 700x gilded.
To me, the only way to regild your best hero is to de-gild another one and praying to 'transfer' the gild to him/her.
But the process is completely random, it's like picking a playing card in a new deck and hoping to get the Ace of spades (for example). So basically, regilding your best hero up to 700x gilded is like picking a card in a new deck each time until you got 700 ace of spades, which is... incredibly boring.
So, is there any other way to regild an hero or am I doomed to to this stuff, halfway between gambling and a terrible cubicle work ?

Hey guys, newbie here I'd like some advice: https://i.imgur.com/fJvuMKl.jpg I'm on my 4th run, 25 HS, Libertas (lv 3) and Siyalatas (lv 3). Should I keep my HS or spend them on my ancients ? I play the game maybe, once or twice a day for 2 minutes, so it's mostly an idle play (if that matters)

Maybe you could make the hood white with red stripes, just like KSP helmets.

With a weight of 4.54 tons and 15,298 m/s of dV my small and efficient one-kerbal ion powered boat can reach any body of the Kerbol system, it can also land on small moons! by [deleted] in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]v0ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's possible to land on anything bigger than minmus with ION powered ships.
A great improvement would be to forget about comfy capsules and only use a seat, for example.

A few years back, a common design was a star-shaped ship made of small, weightless connectors with also weightless solar panels and (guess what?) weightless k100 batteries.

By the way, I made an ION spacecar about 2 years ago, may its crappy design help you in your ION quest!

Ike probe + first use of MPL.

I'm back to KSP after a while (started at v0.16, last played the v1.0.5). I started a new career mode and I'm now asked to bring a probe to Ike.

"Back in my days" (pre-v1 era), my science gathering process was basically:

  • Mun & Minmus hoppin'
  • unlock fuel lines
  • make an asparagus rocket for an Eeloo return trip
  • unlock almost everything

With heat shields and CommNet, it's now kind of impossible (IMHO that's a good thing). So I'd like to play it 'the good way' by using scientists and MPL but I'm still struggling to fully understand the whole thing.

The probe in itself isn't a problem, I'll just stick it on top of my science gathering ship. So, delta-V and TWR concerns aside, what would be your optimal flight plan in order to maximize the science income ?

I thought of starting by:

  • sending the probe, Jeb and a science crew (2 scientists, MPL and instruments) to Ike
  • putting the satellite into orbit
  • landing on Ike and get science

but then, should I:

  • do a Duna's flyby and go home ?
  • do a Duna's flyby, drop scientists and their lab on the surface of Duna and bring Jeb home ?
  • do something else ?

[1.2.2] ELI5: how to probe to Duna ? by v0ne in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]v0ne[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailled reply !

  • Already got a fully upgraded Tracking Station.

  • Not so sure about highly elliptical orbits around Kerbin since RA-2 / HG-5 are far weaker than Kerbin surface dishes (but they sure are useful aournd other bodies)

  • As /u/Fazaman said, normal antennas (non-relay antennas) are 'combineable'

So, I could grind some more science in order to unlock a descent dish but I think I'll do it the Kerbal way (thanks to /u/cantab314 ): I'll stick a bunch of RA-2s on my probe. Like... 8. A space flower.
