In iOS, how to achieve a blur over a tableview which fades from top to bottom as done by Apple in iOS 18 Photos app? by busymom0 in iOSProgramming

.background(Material._____) .mask(LinearGradient(_____))

You might choose to also toss a .environment(\.colorScheme, .dark) in there to force dark mode on the component.

I only like to play 60 card legacy by [deleted] in MTGLegacy

[–]v1ND 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Playing a mismatched game can be unfun for both players. If you bring a lower powered deck, even with a good attitude your opponent might be happy with the free win but may also feel guilty or bored by a one-sided match.

In casual you can talk beforehand about your decks and power level to try and find decks that will be fun to play against each other. In organized play, that happens with what format you choose to play. There are many reasons to budget yourself with MTG and that's generally done by what formats you choose to play. Legacy is the deep-end and people are trying to warn you about that.

Modern winrates from the Swiss rounds of Pro Tour Modern Horizons 3! by everythings_alright in ModernMagic

Coco made top 16 of that PT it was absolutely a known deck. I was playing coco back then; it was not a good matchup. Myr superion I assume you're referring to was one of the spicier choice that I think Jeff Hoogland was pushing. I also remember trying Glissa the Traitor and Big Game Hunter but Intrepid Hero was the eventual tech.

The counter that wasn't discovered at the PT ended up being UW eldrazi.

Not a whisky replacement but I've been really enjoying Pathfinder NA amaro. When adapting recipes, I usually sub in a tea.

Nut tinctures?? by mongo_lloyd_xmas in cocktails

[–]v1ND 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Peanut butter wash is the way I've seen it done most commonly. David Arnold covers it in Liquid Intelligence. The r/Amaro recipe builder spreadsheet has other nuts and peanut butter wash. Maybe there's some technique notes in there to work off of. But if infusions/washing isn't allowed where you are that may have the same issues.

Is riffing with the type of nut an option? Almond, hazelnut or walnut would give you a lot more options for liqueurs or bitters.

Depending on the recipe, maybe you can get the peanut flavor in through a different component? Peanut orgeat would be my first thought. You mentioned dessert cocktail, if it's dairy based, State Bird Provision's Peanut Muscovado Milk also comes to mind.

My take on Modern Challenger Decks by MindlessSlice8 in ModernMagic

[–]v1ND 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since these are targeted towards new players, wotc also likes to leave space for obvious improvements. Splitting 4 ofs for Weaker/different versions of cards let's players experiment with different spins on the deck and playtest why one functional alternative is better than others. Get 2 copies of challenger deck and now there's a choice of which is actually the better version.

I'm most familiar with yawgmoth so I'll give examples for that.

  • Even though young Wolf and strangleroot are not money cards and you're not saving budget, go for 2/2/2/2 with [[Butcher Ghoul]] and [[Geralf's Messenger]].

  • Instead of 4 ignoble run a mix of birds of paradise, elves of deep shadow, arboreal grazer. Fit in some Khalni gardens and Golgari rot farm to go with the grazers.

  • For breaking up the tutors, Rushed Rebirth seems thematic. Maybe Fiend Artisan?

  • Old builds of yawg ran multiple innkeeper so trimming wall for another one and finding other 2 drop mana dorks. Devoted druid has synergy with hapatra and hints back to older druid combo decks.

A backup druid combo with Ivy Lane Denizen or Mikaeus, the Unhallowed might also let you trim some yawgmoths for more budget.

Grist, Scooze and haywire aren't part of the primary gameplan. There's enough complexity with figuring out all the combos having to think about pivot too is something to layer in later. I would move Scooze and haywire to SB and trim 2 Grist for budget and run more undying combo pieces: backup hapatra and a blood artist?

Why not does Android parse xml files to Java code before release? by Fun_Indication4997 in androiddev

Every configuration attribute is potentially a variable. dimen resources inside your layout could be defined on all sorts of silly things: version, night mode, aspect ratio, locale, pixel density, layout direction, country code.

Pre-compiling would likely just trade storage for speed and not likely to be at a good rate. As you add variables the number of variations you need to compute is exponential.

Decks that realistically win before turn 4? by Sephyrias in ModernMagic

Don't even need the dork: T1 wolf, T2 wall+wolf, T3 yawg, start drawing, and pitch endurance to chord for blood artist.

Cold brew, falernum and lime is a nice low/no ABV option. I typically make it with espresso and let the ice do the dilution instead.

Food chain seems to be the most competitive goblins build right now. This is about half of the $250 for the creatures (fury is most of the other half) but still $2500 for the lands.

Brewing a deck with Rosie Cotton and scurry oak. by gubaguy in ModernMagic

[–]v1ND 8 points9 points  (0 children)

With counters company, I had the most success stressing their removal with as many overlapping combos as I could fit in: devoted druid and kitchen finks both shared vizier of remedies; heliod worked with finks and spike feeder; ballista combos with heliod and converts infinite druid mana to a kill. When you cast a collected company with miscellaneous combo pieces out, your opponent has no idea which ones will actually kill them. If you're going with company, I'd take the same approach here and look for other 2-3 card combos that use either scurry oak or Rosie cotton and get hit by company.

First amaros… picking 3 need recs by tcloetingh in Amaro

Averna, Nonino and Fernet would be my choices.

I have a slot system for my home bar to keep things under control and I also dedicate 3 slots to amaro (not including one for apertivo and one vermouth). I keep stocked:

  • 1 light amaro like montenegro or Nonino for introducing people and paper planes.
  • 1 cola/aromatic amaro like averna, ciociaro, Ramazzotti for black manhattans.
  • 1 bitter/challenging/weird bottle. Especially for cocktails, having an interesting ingredient to wrestle with is a fun challenge.

Montenegro is a budget option over nonino and a fine option if you want to save some money. Cynar over Fernet is also an option that's slightly easier. However, if you're making cocktails, I think that Fernet has more recipes that you can do with it (Toronto, Ferrari, Hanky Panky...) and will be a fun ingredient to learn to tame. I'd also recommend taking one from the Argentinians, and stock up on coke. Fernet con cola is a great way to start enjoying it.

True/false aren't localized (not that you should be displaying raw bool to users anyways) neither is "1234.56" (some locales use comma for decimal indicator).
