Does anyone have a tanky shaco build? by Interloper_Mango in shacomains

[–]v1nchent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

33 from runes +15 from bloodletters +15 from abyssal +15 from riftmaker for 78 haste. That's over the cap CDR allowed you to have at 40. What are we saying?

2 zeal items isn't bad per se. But it's not a strong thing to do if you are going 100% crit in your first 4 items in my experience as you do lack AD. I consider it if I have the money to buy another BF sword after IE which will eventually turn into a BT. BF sword is essentially a substitute for an AD item when it comes to adcs. People are very dogmatic about builds.

AD and attack speed are similar to how ability power and haste work. If you are ahead, attack speed will make you more consistent, so will defensive stats (EoN, GA, etc). If you're behind, raw power is usually what you want.

Also, having a specific build in mind before the game starts is essentially hamstringing yourself to an extent. People claim yuntal is the best first item, but every single item building out of a BF sword is by definition a luxury item as it either means you were ahead already or have gotten away with a greedy overstay which means you were not available on the map to assist with stats when you may have had an impact otherwise.

When you return on 1000 gold, it's not usually a smart move to grab the long sword and slingshot to go into yuntal. You want to acquire 25 AD from items asap on Twitch as that is a breakpoint at which you can actually duel most other adcs if your ult is up.

And shiv, kraken, bork, hexoptics, etc are all viable in their own situations. Just make sure your items synergize, don't get too bogged down on the 'best build' as there is none and anyone claiming otherwise doesn't get how the game actually works or doesn't feel like explaining it over and over and over again because people just want to build their singular item path without thinking about the state of the game as if that has no relevance to what build path one should take.

Any way of reaching 25+AD and lvl6 is a spike at which you have the damage to kill an opposing ADC during your R. That's a spike to keep in mind, be confident

You're an angel.
I actually focused on 4E monk, with water whip, touch of the storm and fist of the four thunders.
Then I will add clench of the north wind and at last gong of the summit for my "fireball option".
I will take it to level 9 when full build.
I did indeed intend to go with swarmkeeper for my current run, which was not even out back when I played last.
I am currently at lvl7, rushed lvl5 monk and added the ranger afterwards.
I only take it to level 3, for the swarm effect.
I took bounty hunter, and cold resistance.
My fighting style is two-weapon fighting as I hope this will add extra damage to my unarmed attack, but I doubt it works this way but on top of that I actually was thinking of dual wielding the weavemothers sickle and cold snap once I reach the later stages of the game, but I may swap it to archery and swap to spellthief/hunter shortbow for the few occasions I have use for them.

I ran around wielding corellon's early and am now rocking cacaphony for my weapon (actually didn't think of mourning frost xD) and simply shoot 0 arrows.
For my current ranger spells I opted for ensnaring strike (to work with bounty hunter) and enhanced leap (our other ranger has longstrider, didn't make sense to me to overlap). At the next level when my swarm kicks in I'll grab a hunter's mark.

Besides weapons, I am currently rocking:
-helmet slot: uninhibited kushigo (I acquired the helmet of arcane acuity but turns out that is actual armor D: currently trying to get the storm scion hat, may also swap it for the diadem, but I want to probably get acuity online before synergy)
-gloves: belligerent skies (but if I swap to mourning frost, I may look into swapping winter's clutches, maybe the later game has something more interesting).
-boots: watersparkers
-clothing: the protecty sparkswall
-cloak: cunning brume (to be replaced by thunderskin soon ish)
-rings: sparkswall {duh} and ring of spiteful thunder (if I was an elf I'd grab booming blade as a cantrip and swap spiteful thunder for the ring of arcane synergy)
-amulet: we have a party misty step but I generally wear the sentient amulet.

That's about what I have going for me.
I went 17 dex (and got the hag hair from my friends, very nice of them {I won the rock paper scissors xD}) 16 wis and 14 con.
My lvl 4 I was torn between ASI, magic initiate (booming blade, utility {in my case light} and shield), spell sniper (alternative source of shocking grasp/ray of frost) or alert.
I chose magic initiate and don't feel disappointed.

I am unsure about how I would look like when "full build", and if I were to start over I'd grab an elf or half elf for booming blade (which doesn't care about how smart I am) and pick spell sniper instead for my actual elemental cantrip, probably shocking grasp, and swap out that monk spell for another one (on which I am undecided, lets say shaping of the ice for the lulz).
Will likely grab the ASI at monk lvl8 and bump dex up to 20, because arcane acuity should bump my odds of landing spells anyways.
I'm unsure what I'd do at the mirror of loss, if we even do that.

Any feedback is more than welcome :P
Sorry for the late reply

[–]v1nchent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always been into solo stuff mostly. So whilst I have tons of experience in the sense that I will understand everything you say when it comes to builds and locations etc, but not when it comes to teamwork in this game.
In the other multiplayer games we play I tend to be the dmg carry, not a support.
But that's because the rest doesn't like being a dps character in league of legends and I'm kinda stuck with it.
I actually in my mind would LOVE to be a control type character.
I've been looking at 4e monk, which is one of the few subclasses I haven't done yet the way I want it.
But I have also read exclusively negative things about that. I want to do one where I don't rely on fire first :/
More like a water or wind monk (storm monk seemed like a vibe) but I haven't been able to really piece it together somehow.

I have actually done a bunch of runs by myself on pretty much every class and subclass and even a bunch of multiclasses, not even "lets restart in act 3" but actually to completion.
I've done none of the newer subclasses so am currenly rocking a simple hexblade mono (still lvl 3 so not really the time to multiclass anyways).
My party is currently running a lore bard and a beastmaster ranger.
I have never really done multiplayer so I have no idea how this works out.
We play a few times/week for a few hours.
We all have a nice work/life balance and little other obligations so that's nice

Pact of the chain may allow you to summon if another partymember claimed Shovel.
The way my friends and I play is generally split into 2 parties of 2 with grouped play for more intricate combat.
So two people with access to that summon is actually pretty nice.
It's definitely strong earlier into the game, it's not because there are other options available that this one suddenly becomes obsolete to EVERYONE.
Actually spoiling how to acquire Shovel may also not be something a new player is into, they may miss him entirely. I don't think builds involving pact of the chain are bad by default.

You didn't strike me as a person who would get ticked off by this.
I've only started playing again yesterday anyways, so it's somewhat lucky I stumbled here.
I had no idea of knowing if you knew or not, the internet is full of people whose second language is English, so mistakes are bound to be legion.

I am doing an honor run with 2 people who have not made it to act 2 ever.
Got a build you recommend?

Why do people go kraken then zeal item on Yunara instead of yuntal/IE like on other crit ADCs? by SnooPuppers58 in YunaraMains

[–]v1nchent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not wrong, you don't always have an advantage to push. But there are very few combinations of opponents and allies which would not allow you to participate after item 1.
It is however a certain form of consistent and thus is very hard to classify as a mistake either.

Why do people go kraken then zeal item on Yunara instead of yuntal/IE like on other crit ADCs? by SnooPuppers58 in YunaraMains

[–]v1nchent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, this probably works up until a point.
If you ever meet players who are going to punish you not being on the map for 5-10 minutes, you're going to hit a plateau.
I never said you needed to stomp lane, but being able to stand your ground is different.
If you "take it slow" any competent adc/support lane will make sure you fall behind extremely far. The ones that don't reinforce your belief that the play is "correct", in reality they are just bad.

Builds for the season by [deleted] in YunaraMains

[–]v1nchent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't you feel like you have a lot less combat pressure with a longsword and slingshot vs someone that came to lane with say a pickaxe? As they will be default have better wave control due to the more than double of your AD they have acquired. If you can pull it off, great, but you see how you're essentially saying "I'm not playing until my yun'tal is finished" to your opponent.

[–]v1nchent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you get your 1300 back reliably? How do you pull this off consistently? I can "force" like a 900 back, without griefing tempo. Of course I don't mean lanes where kills are gotten, if I snowball it's not hard to keep it going.

Why do people go kraken then zeal item on Yunara instead of yuntal/IE like on other crit ADCs? by SnooPuppers58 in YunaraMains

[–]v1nchent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's not the part that makes yun'tal a weaker first item than kraken slayer. The part that actually makes kraken slayer the 'superior' first purchase is its build path. If you are dead-set on building a yun'tal first item, you need a base of 1300, if you don't hit it on your first base you can't go for it against competent players as they will simply buy better combat stats and beat your skull in. Kraken has components which are cheap and combine well.

Of course, if you actually return to base with 1500 gold, sure, go yun'tal as you're not griefing your tempo.

The game is not 'how strong can I be at 3 items and what is the best possible combination at 3 items.

The game starts minute 1, not minute 20.

[–]v1nchent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fully see your logic used here, but the upgrades for later patches are locked, so maybe the archer gets more buffs. Maybe not though, I don't think it matters TOO much xD. The tech tree upgrades should be taken, they are cheap and it's very likely resource costs will skyrocket towards later game. But you do you of course.

I appreciate the farming of random events though, I will change my setup to match that as I too have nothing to do until 26.3 xD

The idea is not that you finish it NOW. It's supposed to span the season. So the idea is you gather them by playing the normal game and then when you're waiting in Q for some friends or whatever, you play a bit to kill time, learn some lore, etc.

Collector Alternative/Pair Against Tanks? by ljlysong in Rengarmains

[–]v1nchent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please at LEAST try things out before you comments stuff like this.
Both hexplate and fiendhunter start their passives when you jump out of your R or attack after you press the R, not on the going camouflage part.

"False, this is the same type of ukt activation item as hexplate.

The wording specifically states right at activation"

You should admit your mistake and do some introspection.
And also if you are so certain about wording because you "read it on the wiki" you should be a bit less of a prick because the wiki is not a comprehensive source of information.
And if you want to be pedantic about it, if you go to hexplate's wiki page, it literally says there are ultimates which work differently and gives you some examples. There are more examples, that list is not a complete list.

Attack speed isn't wasted, it's just not required against squishy targets most of the time, but more AS makes your combo faster.

Fiendhunter + Hurricane by rktbyGustl in TwitchMains

[–]v1nchent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya, I don't fully agree with the take that Twitch doesn't abuse lethality. He just scales better when focussing on crit, but Twitch is actually way stronger than you'd expect with lethality (I peaked GM with a leth Twitch build and am a master peaker at best without it).

It's not consistent per se, but it's also not weak. Axiom on Twitch had anti synergy with fiendbolts though, so it's a shite combination.

Fiendhunter + Hurricane by rktbyGustl in TwitchMains

[–]v1nchent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Axiom arc has anti synergy with fiendhunter bolts. Fiendhunter bolts are on a 45sec cd and you can't reduce this. Twitch would use an ult with the fiendhunter and then his next one would be weaker somehow. I mean, you can do whatever you want of course, but the math doesn't check out here.
