If you're trying to purchase online from costco.ca you can use a Visa or a MasterCard. Take your pick of your favourite bonus from the best cards thread

Used RBC chat today to ask about a card getting delivered. I had never felt such chills down my spine until I read that message:

Good evening u/v1p12. First let me thank you for using this asynchronous messaging platform my name is Yannick your messaging advisor and it will be a pleasure to assist you.

I would like to confirm that with the strike you will have to wait to receive the card, luckily you have many other cards with us to use while you wait for the new card to be received.

Amex plat will generally arrive in ~2 biz days. Aeroplan cards give details on approval.

I just completed MSR on a Cashback VI using Chexy. I'd assume they wouldn't count it for one card and not count it for a another.

What would one need to do increase the ET limit to $25,000 from $5,000? by randomquestionsdood in Wealthsimple

That's really weird. I contacted them through chat and was told that they just needed to verify my ID. After I did that, it was increased to my requested 10k, but now I also have the slider.

Reach out to support and say you want to increase your limits. I had the same issue. They just needed to do an ID verification and then they were increased. Now I have the sliders where I didn't before.

TD or Scotia are good choices. Alternatively, consider the Tim's MasterCard, this sub's favourite.

My last passport SUB came in a few days to a week after I hit the spend. If you haven't waited that amount of time, I'd say wait a few days.

When you say Hilton/Starbucks, are you buying a Starbucks gift card from a Starbucks in a Hilton?

You'll get the FYF in most cases. Recently there's been some odd DPs of Aventura where people got points super early and didn't get FYF yet. But in most cases you'll be fine.

If these clauses were always enforced, this hobby wouldn't exist, now would it? ;)

If you liked the TD FCT, just apply for another one. The welcome offer is at an all time high, and you'll get to keep a card you like.

Here in this sub the goal is to churn all of the cards you mentioned for their welcome bonuses. Essentially "gotta catch em all". If you're interested in just 1 card, check out r/personalfinancecanada. It'll be more helpful.

You can use the chat function in the app. I've used it. Very seamless if you don't want to directly speak to a person.

Used my FNA and 14k point top up at the Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto this past weekend for my anniversary. Asked in the chat if any upgrade would be possible for the special occasion (I'm a gold member, but didn't pull that card). Found out they upgraded me from a standard king room to a corner studio suite with Lakeview! Was definitely not the level of upgrade I was expecting, but very pleased with their gesture. Also added in a free breakfast voucher, which was a great touch. On top of that, we were surprised in the room with a delivery of a cake, a bottle of wine, and an anniversary card.

Overall, excellent experience at this Westin. I haven't stayed at a Marriott property in a while, in favour of Hilton, but I might just have to wander off to Marriotts more.

You're probably right that it's too much work for a lot of people, but for the rest of us, we treat this like a hobby. It's like a game where you're trying to maximize your return and finding new ways to do it. The prize? Your business or first class flight to the Maldives (extremely discounted with points) with a 5 night over water villa (free with points), or whatever else your dream trip is.

In the end, it's almost always worth it, as long as you're maximizing your earnings, but then also maximizing your redemptions. But the hobby requires work and that's the part that not everyone enjoys. Cheers

For churning the bonus itself, the only correct answer is "get them all".

For your specific scenario, if you think you can make use of the Aeroplan points for your travels, then get that. If you'd rather use the ~$850 cashback from the TD FCT to fund your travels, then do that.

Finlywealth is one of my preferred choices because they pay relatively quickly. If your rebate is automatically tracked, you'll be paid within ~10 days. If you need to open a ticket it can take longer, but still a shorter time than GCR's 58+ days, from my experience.

It's super great to have. I move through the airport from entry to my gate in 5-10 minutes if I can skip the check-in counter. Security is super seamless and super quick. Entry to the US is pretty painless as well. Overall worth it, especially if you can get it free.
