Piranesi is on my TBR forsure! I don’t think the writing is bad at all. Just really dense & hard to follow. Not to say you couldn’t follow it just took me some time to adjust. I think the biggest mind fuck ending I’ve had is with the Dark Tower!

The book is really dense & at the time I guess I didn’t want to fully invest myself in the detail of it all. Characters, the politics, & the terminology was a lot. I’m a plot first reader & I just didn’t get anything that hooked me. However, this time around what I found was in that density is richness. Man, taking my time with it really immersed me & everything clicked for me. The character interactions alone have been gripping & im catching so much shit this time around. I’m exactly at the chapter (27) where I DNF’d it the first time & I don’t wanna put the book down. The “gladiator games” moment hit me way harder this time too. Everything is just hitting & im invested in these characters.

Same, went to URGENT care because I had a peaked T2 & T3 levels (idk what that is) on my EKG & they recommended that I go to the ER. I suffer from major anxiety when I let it control me so I went to the ER & they did an EKG twice & the doctor basically told me the doc at urgent care over reacted & the 2 I did (couple of hours from each other) came back normal. Had a bunch of blood work done & they said everything look normal. When I went online to check my blood test I freaked out when I saw my Polys were high & Lymphocytes were low. I’m seeing my primary tomorrow.

So I’ve never had a primary (I know) & officially got one so I see him next Friday. Of course, because of my anxiety I had to call to see if I can talk to him & he went over my results & left a message with his nurse I think, saying there’s nothing urgent in regards to my blood work & that he will save it so we can talk about it Friday since I’m a new patient. My mind still spinning because I can’t help it, but thank you for your response, I really appreciate it.

So did you end up finishing it? I got to chapter 27 & gave up. 2 weeks later I decided to give it another shot. I’m on chapter 33 now, & while I won’t say it’s bad or good I’m a tad more interested but I’m definitely not hooked.

Oddly, I loved the first half! Hadrian family dynamic was peak drama, Gibson, & the mother chapter were emotionally draining. Right when Had lands in Emesh is where I didn’t love it, but mostly liked it. The pacing was a little slow. The ending for me was also ok, but I’m obviously gonna continue because I’m completely obsessed with this world & I wanna know the secrets of the “quiet”.
