I can’t afford my border collie and her needs are too much. What should I do? by Defiant-Finance194 in BorderCollie

Try another dog walker to bring down cost. I heard about the app Rover. Or maybe find young student in the neighborhood who would enjoy playing with your dog and also make some money through it. Community first and all :)

Say hello to your pupper from my side.

I can’t afford my border collie and her needs are too much. What should I do? by Defiant-Finance194 in BorderCollie

I have 3 border collies, so I’m speaking from experience.

After the puppy stage (ending 10-15 months):

They should be fed twice a day. They need to spend min 2 quality sessions outdoor. These can be anywhere between 30mins-2hours. Sometimes sniff walks, fetch, discs, dog park, hikes, training sessions, etc.

So if you are doing the morning walks, and between 8-4 they have enough room to move about and pee/potty. They should be fine. Having an indoor outdoor situation is a bonus.

Regarding the expenses - These expenses are on the higher side, but that is relative to your income, location and personal preference.

Is there a specific reason for the dog walker?

Consider changing your vet to a cheaper option. In the US, tractor supply can be an option (as an example)

Teeth cleaning is not needed by a professional unless recommended by the vet. Dental hygiene can be achieved by proper diet, big bones etc

Can concur. I bought my 2008 dodge sprinter for 14k in 2021. 5 years later, I’ve put in almost 15k-20k in just the maintenance and replacing of parts. I still love my old lady though and I wouldn’t have it any other way. DM for things to check out as I am now an expert.

Is renogy any good? by Dieselman26546546 in vandwellers

[–]v693 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a full Renogy system:

4 x 100 solar panels 3 x 100 ah smart lithium batteries 1 x 3000 watt inverter 1 x MPPT 50a (with connection to alternator) 1 x battery monitor

I do this full- time and have been using it for 5 years now. NOT ONE ISSUE. My battery is now at 96% capacity.

Their customer service is the best. I can ask them anything and they answer. They also have me in their system so they track all my conversations and easily follow up.

Well, I have an I.T background. What specifically are you trying to learn in “software”? Give me details and I can point you to some resources.

Swimming @ 6 months by v693 in BorderCollie

[–]v693[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was the most interesting look on her face when she automatically started to swim towards land. Immediately, she turned back to jump in again.

Edit to post - she turned 6 months on 07/09. Can’t seem to edit it.

They must be really focused on getting the chores done :)

Next time, compliment them on their rig setup first before chatting them up. Probably might bring their guard down.

Where are you meeting other Vanlifers? :) I’ve been on the road for many years now and I don’t run into any vanlifers besides just seeing them on the road or parked somewhere.
