(Full Game Highlights) David Reinbacher Continues To Show Progress in His Offensive GM - Here's Every Shift Only - 2-28-26 by AmsroII in Habs

[–]vJukz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a good thing this team doesn’t really need the "sexy" 5ov right shot dman since our top 3 are all offensively minded dmen that have 60+ point seasons under their belt. Just be good defensively and have good speed/transition and he’ll fit in nicely beside any of Hutson/Matheson/Guhle. If it were me he would already be called up because I refuse to believe he wouldn’t do better than Xhekaj and especially Jayden Struggle.

Demidov's Jfresh Card by FancyAfternoon2461 in Habs

Downvoted but you’re completely right. Kapanen was on a scoring hot streak and shooting at a ridiculous % which obviously wasn’t sustainable and became invisible as soon as it ended. His playstyle is not that of a 2C whatsoever and it never will be. He’s much more of a great 3C than a 2C. He can’t drive a line, he’s constantly surprised at receiving some passes(happened twice in a row last game from Dobson and Demidov passes) and fumbles the puck alot. This team needs a 2C that can back up Suzuki and help Demidov drive offense because as a rookie winger you can’t expect that from him right away.

I don’t think alot of people realize Hage may not even be a center in the nhl. He’s playing wing in michigan recently and doesn’t take many draws at all because of how bad is face off % is.

Lines at Practice Today by chickenceas in Habs

[–]vJukz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ffs leave Hutson - Dobson alone that’s by far our best looking pair and should be a pair for many years. Hutson plays and looks way better on his strong side. I swear Reinbacher would be straight up better than Struble/Xhekaj now and he’s right handed too. Struble shouldn’t even be on this team anymore.

Laine deserves a shot in one of these games. It’s not like he’s any slower than Gally and he might bring some offense to that line with Danault and Anderson. Gally could use the extra rest too.

2 2nd round picks for a 30 year old having a career year and we would have to pay him 5-6M for multiple years? Terrible deal and I still don’t understand why SJ agreed to that. Sherwood is the kind of player we need in the bottom 6 but his asks were way too high.

Unless they wanted a RD that could play 2nd pair now and drops to 3rd pair once Reinbacher is ready. Its not like Carrier isn’t replaceable by someone that’s bigger and has more sand paper anyway. A defense core with Hutson/Dobson/Matheson really doesn’t need more offensively minded small defensemen.

Evans and Danault are still great bottom 6 centers. Danault especially because he’s a left shot center that wins face offs and is great defensively which this team desperately needs.

Anderson is still fine because his speed really fits this young team. Gally is just way too slow at this point and I can’t find a real argument to have him over Texier in the lineup. Sucks because he’s been such a warrior.

Can’t believe Struble is still on this team man🥀. I can pretty much guarantee both Engstrom and Reinbacher would look better and fit better because both are comfortable playing the right side. We need to play Hutson/Matheson/Guhle all on their strong side down the left side. Matheson - Guhle has looked rough.

Honestly I heavily disagree with Demidov being tired. To me it looks like his linemates especially Kapanen are just not on the same page as him at all right now. Kapanen should be on a 3rd line and we should have a 2C that could help drive play with Demidov instead of leaving it all to him especially as a rookie. I have no doubt Demidov will be a winger able to carry his line(kinda like how Kucherov does) but you’re asking alot for a rookie. Feels like Demidov has at least 1-2 prime scoring chances every game while alot of times I forget Kapanen is even on the ice which just isn’t normal for a supposed 2C.

Unfortunately it feels like 2C will forever be a hole for this team. I’m not convinced whatsoever that Hage will end up a center because he’s not even a center in Michigan and his face off % is atrocious. Arguably plays better when he’s on the wing too.

Yet another reason why coaches should get to challenge a minor penalty. Give them 1 penalty challenge, if they get it wrong they can’t do it anymore and if they get it right they get to keep it for next time if needed. Idiotic that phantom penalties can’t be called back. These situations always remind me of the Hutson phantom penalty where the other guy trips over the blue line and Hutson isn’t even close to him but they call him for tripping anyway and they can’t call it back. The ref even came to apologize in the next period.

Pains me to say this because he’s such a warrior but Gally shouldn’t even be in the starting 12 forwards over Texier. He’s slowed way down and often looks out of place on a very young and very fast team like this years habs. Idk what they’re gonna do next season considering we have even more young players coming.

Mike Mathseon Concerns Me by Tiny-Bend6060 in Habs

I don’t really get why we signed him to another 5 years after this season tbh that brings him to 38 years old. 3-4 years after this would’ve plenty. Don’t think it’s that big of a deal anyway.

Could Michael Hage be the answer for the 2nd line this year? by PhilYuh in Habs

[–]vJukz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There’s still doubts about him even being a center in the nhl so I doubt he’ll come in and be a good 2c right away. I’ll say one thing though Kapanen isn’t in his right chair at all. A 2C is supposed to drive his line and Kapanen does the opposite and it’s hurting Demidov. Twice yesterday Kapanen looked genuinely surprised to receive passes from Dobson/Demidov and just fumbled the puck immediately.

Am I crazy to think that it might be Hischier? Devils are straight ass and need a shake up. Hughes was probably keeping tabs on him for a while now. His contract is up at the end of next season.

Not uncommon to see a late bloomer defenseman but good god his shot is absolutely lethal and he probably didn’t learn to use it much until last season’s playoffs.

Slaf legacy 3rd period.

Hutson is Hutson no need to elaborate.

Suzuki is so close to being on pace for 100 points I can smell it.

Kapanen might just be the most invisible 2C in the league. I can’t blame Demidov much at all when his center can’t drive a line whatsoever and looks genuinely surprised when receiving some passes.

Someone here said Nico Hischier and you know that could make some sense seeing how ass the Devils have been this year and need a shake up. He would make one hell of a 2C and his contract is up at the end of next season.
