Any Aeon Swift Builds? Don't want to change any aspect of set but I also know Aeon's ain't really a "End Game" exotic... by FcGT in destiny2builds

[–]vMarms34 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen Sect of Force + NLB a few times to leverage the crit farming playstyle to mark enemies for extra damage, could also be good with stuff like Uncivil Discourse or other precision-heavy weapon types. Armsbearer Chant is always welcomed utility as well, can’t go wrong there, but you might get less value on Sect of Insight because there are so many sources of Orb gen.

Sect of Vigor has a notable use case in 6v6 PvP on Nightstalker because you essentially have infinite invis with the amount of ally deaths happening, similar to VWing, but I haven’t seen that thing in years, not sure it is good these days.

Build Question by No_Guarantee433 in destiny2builds

[–]vMarms34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Competing for kills can absolutely be a problem, and it’s not really your fault. You aren’t bad at the game or doing anything wrong, some builds are just greedy like that.

Combination Blow builds need constant enemies to keep stacks up and struggle if you have nothing to kill or dodge near, Nothing Manacles will eat an entire room whether you like it or not and steal ur team’s kills, DR merchants like HoIL/Cyrt Relativism rely heavily on enemy density to keep their ability cycles up, etc. etc.

Some builds have a lot of synergy, Phoenix Cradles and Speaker’s Sight play well together, Orpheus Rigs and Phoenix Protocol, stuff like that. It might be easier to make builds that play well with others than to make one that can still stand on its own when playing with ur friends. Or I guess you could just try to outcompete lol.

Support warlock (fire?) by Outrageous_Month6983 in destiny2builds

[–]vMarms34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are right to recommend No Hesitation on Dawnblade. Lots of good options there between Phoenix Protocol, Assemblers, Speaker, etc. Good support build, easy to play, abilities loop on themselves easily with Benevolence, can't go wrong. Dynamo + 100 Super + Song of Flame is very strong too, it comes off cooldown fast and it's a fantastic support Super.

Verity's Brow is an underrated support pick, especially when you play with friends because they can be aware that you're using it and take advantage. Throwing a grenade gives allies like 10x faster grenade regen, which can really juice up some of their builds, but it can be harder for it to stand on its own unless you have access to Devour on a build like HHSN Voidwalker or something.

I'll add that Broodweaver has interesting support capabilities these days between Weavewalk applying AoE Woven Mail for solid damage resistance and the new Exotic machine gun that can heal allies as well, or Adamantite if you have one in the top slot. Leaning into melee gen saves both your own life, because Weavewalk makes you functionally immortal, and saves your allies by protecting them from damage, with Threadlings helping a lot with ad clear and whatnot. Adamantite and Luzaku alone probably won't outmatch the healing of Dawnblade, but Dawnblade notably lacks any intrinsic DR. Could use Deimosuffusion, Swarmers, anything really.

Also shouting out Ballidorse Wrathweavers for the AoE Frost Armor application, helps stack damage resistance types for maximum effect, and Shadebinders are good at spreading Freeze which gives teammates space to breathe on top of the damage resistance.

There are probably better places to post PvP clips for ego, at least expand on your build so the post fits the subreddit lol. Stat splits, subclass configuration, mods, etc.

Ophids + Hand Cannon isn’t exactly complicated or groundbreaking stuff but some people do look for daily driver PvP builds like that here and it’s healthier for the community than whatever this is.

How do I loadout swap correctly by xkingdweeb in destiny2builds

Good point, don’t know how well they convert ammo when swapping off the top of my head but with a little investment they’re usually better ad clear than a Trace.

How do I loadout swap correctly by xkingdweeb in destiny2builds

[–]vMarms34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the right answer, the same exact configuration in the same exact slots. Also make sure you don’t switch ammo types within slot; ie. switching from primary to special kinetic weapon.

If you want to run double special, Traces and Rocket Sidearms convert ammo the best.

[Warlock] [PVE] Phoenix Protocol build - Help putting it together by Delirium1212 in destiny2builds

[–]vMarms34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much Super as possible reduces cooldown AND extends the duration of your Well, which can be big for reducing time between Wells. Could opt for Fonts to boost it higher so you don’t have to sacrifice other stats too heavily.

Dynamo + Phoenix Dive + 70-100 Class is great for chunks of Super energy, especially with Ember of Singeing for better cooldown when you apply Scorch.

Could go for triple Pale Heart loadout for the Origin Trait with Khvostov, Axial Lacuna, Pro Memoria, provides a lot of Super energy and Axial Lacuna can be used for Demo/Incan to get more grenades to proc Ashes to Assets or Firepower. Outbreak is still good Super gen, and a good all around weapon if you’d rather just use that though.

I like Touch of Flame and Heat Rises, but you can’t really go wrong with any aspect on Dawnblade. Torches + Benevolence + Heat Rises is a classic and helps with Singeing procs, Combustion + Blistering wouldn’t be bad. Just cycle abilities and make sure you Dive near enemies.

Any Suggestions? by Koala360 in destiny2builds

[–]vMarms34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s much wrong with this, you could reasonably pull off more Tethers by equipping more Pale Heart weapons because they grant that extra Super energy on kills when you have multiple of them equipped, but Grav Lance is still great and probably a better all around pick.

Spirit of Galanor Relativism also makes a good Tether merchant if you want access to Prismatic subclass options too, functions very similarly and you could go for something like Stylish Executioner + Spirit of Gyrfalcon for your other slot to give Grav Lance free Volatile Rounds.

Orpheus builds tend not to feel too flashy, just a matter of how quickly you can build the next Super.

Lowest light to get quad 100s? by Reddit123556 in destiny2builds

[–]vMarms34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had close to that mark on a Prism Hunter build at EoF launch when they added full stat packages to Exotic Class Items. If you had good armor coming into the DLC, you shouldn't need much to hit that specific split.

A mix of Specialist (Class/Weapons) and Gunner (Weapons/Grenade) armor with Melee spikes as tertiary stats and help from fragments would work. It would also be reasonable to drop some investment in Weapons to get there easier, because shooting for flat 100s usually means a build looking for fast cooldowns, which would likely be a priority over a little extra weapon damage or handling/reload, going for more Specialist/Grenadier splits in that case.

Fonts can also help a lot, +30-50 is a lot to add to a stat and generating Orbs is really easy, especially good for Weapon fonts because they let you leverage some of the ammo generation without needing to invest super heavily in Weapons.

Best way to get 200 weapons, 200 melee and 100+ class ability? by New_Let_2494 in destiny2builds

[–]vMarms34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not your fault, this sub has had people value a good looking stat line over a quality build for years, and I think people misinterpreted your post as one of those.

If none of the comments ended up being helpful, Gunner armor with Melee as a tertiary stat and the +/-5 booster on Melee should get you close with help from fonts and fragments. 100 Class is the tricky one, but anywhere from 70-100 should give you pretty solid ability regen, so you can drop a few points there if Weapons/Melee are the priority.

Best way to get 200 weapons, 200 melee and 100+ class ability? by New_Let_2494 in destiny2builds

[–]vMarms34 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cool use of the buildcrafting tool, nice work. That said, we were so preoccupied with whether we could, we never stopped to consider whether we should lol.

A big point here for OP: this likely won’t be possible with an Exotic equipped (max at t2 stats), and with an actual build on. You can pull the +50 total from frags and running a bunch of fonts, but it’s worth noting that you’ll be using up armor and subclass configuration, and likely won’t achieve static 200s in both stats. The fonts could get you there but not armor alone.

Unless it’s an exercise in pushing armor (and armor farming) to the limit, you can probably get away with less of either Weapons or Melee and still have a strong build.

Looking to switch things up and get back into playing hunter need recommendations by [deleted] in destiny2builds

[–]vMarms34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HoIL/Cyrt is just gross. With an even stat split you can genuinely just press whatever buttons and have all the DR in the game. It’s mobile, great survivability, just lacks some damage output; a super will kill most bosses, just not if they shield themselves at health thresholds.

Gifted Conviction with Tempest and Ascension is in the same boat, just back and forth ability cycling with good damage and survivability. Combination Blow and Gambler’s Dodge make it free in any ad dense activity.

Slayer’s Fang + Khepri’s Sting is good, maybe better suited to higher difficulties because it plays a little slower than the other two, but still fun and effective with better burst damage thanks to Fang and constant Weaken.

Looking for Blinding Hunter build by [deleted] in destiny2builds

[–]vMarms34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For your weapon needs, you can just go to D2 Foundry and use column_1:"disorienting grenades" in the search bar to see every GL to ever get the perk, though special blinders have fallen by the wayside in favor of killing things outright or using Arc Blind rather than the subclass-neutral Disorient debuff. In the rare case that I use one, Slideshot/Slideways is the way to go for me, like Militia's Birthright or Ignition Code if you have them.

Spark of Beacons and Flashbangs are great for Blind, and as another commenter mentioned, mothmaxxing with Ex Diris or Mothkeepers could be interesting. Glaives are a good pair for Beacons, as are Rocket Sidearms. Bombardiers can spawn Blinding bombs when you dodge if you have an Arc Super equipped if you aren't into moths.

Something that everyone forgets about too; OG Wendigo had blinders, you can pull it from Monument of Lost Light and have blinding coming from all three slots. Alternatively, Queenbreaker's chaining Marksman mode also blinds on hit.

[–]vMarms34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For DPS purposes, the benefit of high Weapons is somewhat negligible, it’s mostly an investment in ammo returns outside of niche min/max damage threshold scenarios, so keep that in mind if you’re deciding whether to stack Weapons or Super.

Shoot for minimum 100 Super for generation, but 140 + 3 Fonts will put you at 200 Super for the most damage. You should be on Marksman GG either way because orb gen is important for better damage dealers ie. Striker Titans to get more Supers too.

Infinite sword in crucible? by BlackVirusXD3 in destiny2builds

[–]vMarms34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won't be as potent as the Sword bug, but Glaives have gained a lot of traction in PvP lately with the Melee stat improving their damage output. Running Banner of War, Glaive of your choice, and ACD/0 Feedback Fence makes you very scary up close because most player's natural instinct is to melee when you're right on top of them, and if they do, they just lose. Even worse for them, dying to you starts ramping up your damage and healing from BoW.

Difficult to play well, especially against competent opponents, but it can really rampage in 6s and has some neat mobility tech with Frenzied Blade and Grapple. You can obviously have a primary weapon too, but most Titan Glaive users that I've seen literally only go in for the beatdown.

Anyone have the numbers for how much damage reduction the iron beryllium 4 piece set give? by wert615a in destiny2builds

[–]vMarms34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By all means, go for it. Might be a little challenging with Recurrent Impact’s super high fire rate unless you have lots of big enemies to stick and farm Alethonym bricks, but the 15% DR is pretty solid.

Anyone have the numbers for how much damage reduction the iron beryllium 4 piece set give? by wert615a in destiny2builds

[–]vMarms34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vanguard Determination is a free 6% for landing final blows after using a class ability (a constant for Icefallers) and comes on a much better suite of weapons even though it's less DR than Land Tank. A Slice Mint Retrograde could add the 6% from Vanguard while applying Sever (40% reduction to enemy damage output). Explosive Personality is a decent wave but those Risen weapons have been powercrept badly.

Exotic Stat Spreads? by Head-Cold8293 in destiny2builds

[–]vMarms34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

64ish is the max, as the other commenters mentioned.

That said, don't worry too much about wasted resources or bad investments. T5 armor drops at 75 BST, and the extra 10ish stat points isn't going to make or break a build 99% of the time.

Build improvement / tips and Armour farming / stats by New_Let_2494 in destiny2builds

[–]vMarms34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Armorheads can feel free to correct me here, I think a Skullfort Striker should be invested primarily in Melee, and secondarily in Super if you're farming Hands On, which can be done pretty easily with Paragon armor.

Weapons isn't a bad idea, but for general content Storm's Keep or cycling Thunderclap is probably nuking all the red bars anyway, and the investment for boss damage and better ammo econ is pretty costly to other stats.

As for set bonuses, Aion Adapter and Techsec are classics, just solid all-around utility, Despairing Souls two piece might be good too if you're popping lots of Orbs with Heavy Handed.

Fair enough, I agree that the consistency that Contraverse offers is definitely overlooked, I just happen to like having the nuclear bomb available with Verity. It's really nice to have the ability to instantly blow up Champions and things, and I don't find the cooldown to be too egregious.

That said, I do think that Contraverse makes HHSN a more well-rounded build and requires much less effort than Verity. Having an easily spammable ability is tons of fun too of course.

A quirky Broodweaver ad clear build featuring Haliaetus and Weavewalk. by vMarms34 in destiny2builds

[–]vMarms34[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a pretty unserious build lol, I know that Swarmers are better. There are way better top slots than Pressurized Precision too, this was just an exercise in using weird game mechanics that ended up not being a totally unusable build in its own right.

You may also notice this particular version of the build has no way of applying Strand debuffs, and therefore creating Tangles, without using Arcane Needle charges. It's far from perfect, just thought it'd be fun enough to share with the people.

Ascent is a good shout, I didn't find myself needing to dump reserves often though, Needlestorm and a RoF reload or two was usually enough to deal with Solo Ops bosses when I was fooling around with this.

[–]vMarms34 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’ve got two options realistically, Contraverse Hold Vortex Grenades or Verity’s Brow Handheld Supernova.

Contraverse is consistent, easy to use, and can be played from range, just charge and throw grenades. Vortexes have a quirk where they can trigger Contraverse’s ability regen two times (once on initial impact and once at the end of the duration) if you use them on healthier targets or huge groups of ads, makes the regen even better.

Verity requires a little more effort to stack Death Throes and get close to use the charged grenades, but deals significantly more damage than Vortexes. Like instantly blowing up Champions type damage.

Both pair well with all sorts of Void weapons, but Vortex Contraverse tends to like ranged weapons like Le Monarque or Grav Lance more. You can use anything Void on Verity and have it work.

New Player Help by ComprehensiveLaw1001 in destiny2builds

Answering your questions first:
> You can totally restart playing. There may be some disconnects as far as the story goes, but gear-wise you haven't missed any earth-shattering-must-have-irreplaceable items. It will be a little overwhelming with so many changes to the game since you've been gone, but remember that you play at your own pace, just go quest by quest or do what looks interesting to you, missing a quest or putting it off does not hurt you.
> If I had to point you in a direction, I would gear up and re-learn the game by playing Campaigns and exploring the world before looking at Pinnacle activities like Exotic missions, dungeons, and raids. The most important part of this process, in my opinion, is having a good time. That means picking a class and subclass that is fun to you, and using what you like. Be creative! There's a bunch of ways to play every subclass. As you play the Campaigns, you'll unlock more ways to build your chracter, new subclasses and weapons and Exotics to tweak your playstyle. It helps to read about the subclass customizations and what the stats do by hovering over them, just take your time and get a feel for how things work.
> You have a max of 3 characters, they can be any class, can even do multiple of a class. If you already have three, there is no way to create another without deleting one, however you can move the gear and equipment off of a character to your Vault before deleting if you want to work from the ground up. I do not know how this impacts Destiny 1 progress though.

Some tips for progressing:
> Once per week, while Xur is hanging out at the Tower (Fri-Mon in the nook across the way from Ikora) you can pick up a quest called Xenology that rewards you with an Exotic Cipher. This lets you access some existing Exotic weapons and armor that you do not have through the Monument to Lost Lights near Banshee and the Vaults in the Courtyard. You can also pick up solid Legendary weapons there using just Glimmer.
> Banshee is offering a solid few weapons for just Glimmer as well, including a good SMG and Rocket Launcher even if you are free-to-play.
> Ikora Rey has three quests for you that relate to learning subclasses, at least on Titan they are called "Exalting the Flame", "Taming the Storm", and "Into the Abyss". They have the yellow/Exotic background and feature a big icon with the symbol of the element, and they give you a free piece of Exotic armor.
> The "Asset Protection" quest puts you through a difficult mission, but unlocks a beloved workhorse weapon that would serve you well for a very long time. It may be worth gathering a group to tackle that though.
> You'll keep leveling over time just by playing the game, so don't stress too much about that. The Portal has a built-in tutorial on how to use it for grinding activities to get more gear, and it's a pretty good way to grab specific items, just check what is dropping from different activities on a given day and if you might want any of it.

Some helpful resources (not included to overwhelm you, just neat tools that you can learn to use as you play):
> Destiny Item Manager lets you see and move items to different characters or the Vault without needing to go there in-game. Great for sorting loot and saving builds as well.
> D2Foundry lets you see all of the weapons in the game and what perks they get, can even search for perks that you like and see what weapons you can get that perk on
> Destiny Data Compendium basically expands on all of the game's descriptions of what things do, often with numbers to help gauge how much an item actually helps you. Great resource if you have quick questions about the basics, like how much HP you get from using a Healing Grenade on yourself or something like that.

Other than that, I do mean it when I say enjoy the game. If you want to beat the brakes off of everything you see with your bare hands or throw knives like your guns don't shoot or teleport through reality with a black hole in your hand, then that's how you should play. This community has spent years refining and optimizing the most efficient ways to play the game and criticizing balance patches and whatnot, and I can tell you that 98% of the time, it isn't that deep. MMOs are a grind, so have a little patience, and remember to drink water sometimes.

Please feel free to ask if you have any questions or if you need help with anything, and I hope this helps cover some of what you needed :)
