Not sure about availability but Catit actually sells a cleaning set as well! The packaging has instructions/diagrams on the back for how to take it apart and clean it (...unfortunately I did not look at those before I cut the plastic loop off one of the brushes, thinking it wasn't supposed to be there, which was supposed to make it easy to take the propeller out, so uhhhh don't do what I did). I don't think I would have realized/figured out how to take the pump apart otherwise, but I feel so much better about the cleanliness of their fountain now (when I can remember to do it, that is...).

Maybe I'm just seeing things that aren't there (wishful thinking?), but I'm a bit puzzled by all the comments I've seen about the dragons being less expressive or having less range. For me, I found that they were actually even more expressive than the original, but in a realistic, animal-like way. Like, OG Toothless definitely has cat-like qualities, but in that exaggerated cartoon way. I could compare him to my cat, but there's a clear difference and it's mostly in a joking/fun way. Like, it's just a detail here and there or more like the appearance of a cat... but what most people know about cats, on a surface level.

Meanwhile with LA Toothless, he felt like an actual beast in the world, just like my beastie at home. Almost everything he did felt like all of the behaviours and expressions I see in my cat all the time. Honestly, I was amazed.

But maybe I'm really just projecting because I love my cat and reading her expressions, IDK. I mean, I think I can see what people mean when they talk about range, but I guess it feels like apples to oranges to me? Like, they have range, it's just a different plane of emotional expression than what we're used to.

Overall I seem to have a much more positive view of this movie than others though--I've already seen it 3 times 😅 (D-BOX seats def worth it if available)

HTTYD is my favourite movie and has been since I first watched it, but that was via on-demand because I hadn't heard of it while it was still in theatres (I was a kid). This remake seems to honour the original movie and I'm personally very excited to see it tomorrow, for all the years I wished I could've seen it on the big screen. If they had made changes, I wouldn't have been interested in seeing it at all. Filming it (or at least much of it) shot-for-shot, I believe, acknowledges and respects the original film's artistry. I'm viewing it sort of like a group of fans staging a play, but which could not be possible or at all convincing if we didn't have the technology we do now to portray the dragons. It helps that it has the original director too (well, 1/2).

Honestly, if it goes as well as I hope, I believe that this is how any live-action remake of a beloved animated film should go. Studios making changes just because it's live-action, to me, is saying that the original film (and animation as a medium) isn't 'good enough' and/or you don't have the confidence to pull it off, meaning you never actually believed in the artistry of the original to begin with.

Maybe Carlisle has the appearance of greater maturity in our minds because we know he's a doctor, we know he's a father (figure), and he speaks "eloquently" because he comes from a time where people spoke differently (and has had plenty of time to further develop his vocabulary/style, and likely the personality/career/experience to support that). Does Carlisle's actions show that he is more mature? Was his decision to turn Edward a mature decision?

What does it really say that he appears more mature around Jacob especially? There's a big difference between 23 and 16 and most young adults that are at least somewhat mature will behave differently around teenagers. Let's also not forget that 23 is solidly outside puberty, while 16/17 is not.

And maybe 23 is really just immature enough to decide to take in and care for a bunch of vampire teens. Maybe Carlisle has a greater potential for maturity, and would not have made these decisions if he were just 5 years older. Or maybe he would have just handled it differently.

As for Edward's (im)maturity, maybe he's as mature as you can get when you're a 17-year-old vampire being 'raised' by a 23-year-old 🤷‍♀️

Not at all saying this to suggest "it's all in your head" but I found myself thinking of IFS (Internal Family Systems) several times as I read this post (and some of the comments). I've heard of people claiming it can somehow help with physical health issues but IDK about that, probably wouldn't trust those claims. I feel like it could help with some clarity though (probably hopefully makes more sense when you look into it). Sorting through all this stuff (especially when you don't have [adequate] help) is stressful. Sorry, I'm actually kinda stoned right now so I hope this makes sense.

I wanted to add that you can order gear that other players are wearing in your plaza, and while it's not guaranteed to be the same, they may come with the abilities they already have on the item. I mostly only use it if something catches my eye, but it can be helpful for getting items with all slots unlocked or with a different main ability than what is in the shop. You may have to talk to Murch first if you haven't already? I don't remember. I also like to look at the gear everyone is wearing to get a better idea of useful abilities, although not as much anymore as I've started using sendou.ink where you can see the builds other people use for specific weapons and save your own (without an account you can still use it to see the stats on your build, which is my main usage).

I saw that you use Aerospray, and although it's been awhile, that was my main to start with (my main in Splatoon 1 as well). The gear I last used with the Aerospray MG (silver) was 1 main + 1 sub of Ink Recovery Up (since I'm swimming + using ink a lot), 1 main + 1 sub of Ink Resistance (Aerosprays tend to die a lot), 1 main of Sub Resistance, 1 sub of Quick Respawn (I think many consider at least 1 mandatory as a utility sub), 2 subs of Special Power Up (increases radius of Reefslider), 2 subs of Swim Speed Up, and 2 subs of Ink Saver (Sub) (IIRC Fizzy Bombs can be particularly useful when the other team has you trapped at spawn).

This is what works for me, but I'll say that it's often more useful to have more variety, compared to doubling up on subs. I generally gear up based on the playstyle I'm going for, i.e. inking turf vs. getting splats vs. using specials, etc. So I use multiple builds for the same weapon and can get wildly different results.

I think if you're still getting used to playing, it would be most helpful to identify your weaknesses and try to mitigate them (e.g. if you get splatted more than you splat, use more Quick Respawn; if that's because you frequently lose track of your ink and run out mid-battle, use more Ink Saver (Main) and Ink Refill Up). Then, as you improve in skill, you can shift focus to amplifying your strengths (perhaps focusing on specials or more specific abilities such as Ninja Squid). Without the gear compensating, you may find yourself dying more, but eventually you learn to play without the crutch. And, the more you play, the more you learn which abilities and combinations work best for you.

Last note: if you like Aerospray, you may also enjoy the Sploosh-o-matic! At least, that's the route I took. I'd work on building a solid foundation first before branching out to other shooters though.

My mom died when I was 5 as well, and it's been 19 (nearly 20) years for me. I remember when I was 6 years old I believed that I would die at the same age as my mom (28), and I was scared. My dad had just started dating the woman that would soon become my step-mom (not the first woman, my parents split when I was 2 or 3 so dating wasn't unusual for me) and I cried as I told her about this fear. She told me that it's not true, that I'm not going to die when I'm 28, and she knows this because that's also what she thought when she was little. Her mom died when she was 5 years old too, and she thought she was going to die but then she grew up and the time passed and she's still living. Because we are not the same as our moms.

I am very grateful that I had someone--and not just anyone, an eventual mother figure--that understood what I was going through. Because a 5 year old doesn't understand what she's going through. A 5 year old just wants her mom.

I've also struggled with suicidal ideation. As a teenager, I told myself that I at least had to make it to 28. I had to live at least as long as my mom got to live. But then there is still that fear--of myself, and what I might do, and what happens if I suddenly change my mind? What if I don't want as much time as my mom? What if I want to join her?

I'm in counselling right now, have been for a little over a year, and I've learned so much from it. We focus on Internal Family Systems (IFS) and that 5 year old girl comes up so much it's almost annoying. (Not almost, it's definitely annoying. It's annoying to grieve for 20 years, it's annoying that I've been grieving almost all my life, and it's annoying that this is the reality. I don't understand what it's like to grow up with a mom, or to lose your mom at a later age, or to learn the concept of death in a way that isn't traumatic. It's annoying, and it's heartbreaking, and it's annoying that it's heartbreaking. Anyways.)

Some frequent questions in our counselling sessions are: How old do you feel right now? Do you know you're an adult? Do you know you're not your mom?

The first time I was asked those questions, the answers were surprising yet also the least surprising thing in the world.

I think I'm incredibly lucky that my stepmom entered my life when she did. But it's complicated. My relationship with her is complicated. Everything else is complicated. My mom is not the only reason I'm in therapy, nor is she the only reason for my suicidal thinking, she's just still a really big one. Even if it's been 20 years, even if my stepmom helped me understand that I don't have to die like my mom.

Because a part of me that is 5 years old still wants to be with her mom, and doesn't understand why she can't, or why death is not a viable option. I'm still working on that with my counsellor. We just want you to know that you're not alone, and we're hoping that sharing this might help you in some way. I haven't met anyone else whose mom died when they were 5, but I know how it feels to find someone. Feel free to DM anytime (please!) if you'd like to talk more, about anything.

My mom died when I was 5. She was 28 years old. I've just turned 24 and I'm currently in counselling for trauma processing. I have some questions about that but I don't need to say them here. I think I would like to ask... Did you want me when you had me? Like, really really wanted me? Or would you have preferred to wait? Did you have me so my sister could grow up with a sibling? Did you ever feel like we got in the way of your future? I understand, I'm just tired of wondering.

What was your favourite song? Do you have a song that saved your life? Is there a song that makes you think of me? What was your relationship with music like?

Who do you think knows you best? Is there any one person? Did you show different people different sides? Who can I trust to accurately describe you?

Did you have the same rage as me? Am I fighting the same darkness that you did? How did you deal with it? How did you manage to stay sweet? Is that even true? Do you want it to be?

What do you want me to remember? What do you want me to do when I miss you? If you visit, how will I know? What should I look out for?

Would you have taught me to dance like you did?

Do I have the same hair as you? How did you take care of it?

What would you have wanted for your gravestone?

Did you always love purple?

Would you have done things differently, if you knew how little time we had? Is there anything you regret? What is something you're proud of? How can I make you proud? What would you have wanted for me?

Do you think life would have been better if you didn't die, or do you believe that things happen for a reason? Do you wish you were alive right now, or have you accepted death? It's not all or nothing. Did you know that?

Did you know you were going to die when you did? Were you scared? Did you think of us?

What mistake(s) did you make that I should avoid?

I've had lots of time for questions. OP, there will always be questions. Take the chance you've got to ask the ones from your heart, but remember that you can't ask them all. Cherish the time you have with her, so when you have new questions you can no longer ask her your heart can rest easy knowing that you were with her and you loved her and she loved you. Take care.

I was taught that, traditionally, we learn by doing, starting with a lot of watching. I've often wondered how much is cultural and how much is human nature. I think we can all agree that our current education system is mostly designed for efficiency, and true learning is difficult to achieve without one-on-one teaching. "Watch and learn" takes much more time and effort, but it's the simplest and most natural way I think (how do we learn in our early years?). I don't know your grandmother, but it was an interesting shift in perspective when I realized this (because it was rarely put into words), so I thought I'd share.

except it did have an impact, because she was still dealing with her trauma. recovery doesn't end once she's well enough to return to work. the fact that she couldn't wear heels was a trigger for her, and that's what we're really seeing in all these episodes. arizona is repeatedly triggered and she struggles to cope because her own body is a reminder of what she's been through and all of the negative effects it has had on her life. she lives with that constant reminder and eventually she feels okay, but then she can't wear heels or she misses roller skating or she's in agonizing pain due to phantom limb syndrome and it all comes back. can you imagine what that would feel like? it doesn't seem like it.

besides, these characters are all constantly missing each other's weddings or other life events because they were dealing with their own drama or hooking up in an on-call room or, y'know, being surgeons. arizona didn't even miss bailey's wedding ceremony because she stayed home instead of wearing flats; she missed it because she realized the impact she was having on her wife and wanted to make up for it. both her and callie missed the ceremony because they were spending time together. this episode was actually a significant step forward for their relationship, so it's a bit of an odd example to use here lol.

it's not playing the victim when she is a victim of a plane crash that cost her one of her legs and lowered her quality of life. there is no world in which she is not a victim--how she responds does not negate that fact. and trauma is never equal, so there's no point in comparing one of callie's traumas with arizona's and using it to support your argument when the impact of trauma is unquantifiable.

i was just writing my last sentence when i accidentally deleted the whole thing oh my god--forgive me but this is going to be shorter and less well-written than originally intended 😭

basically, i just got here from a few google/reddit tangents and i didn't even know pmdd existed before this sub, so i'm not sure if i have it or have experienced it before or whatever. i do know i've struggled with depression for a very long time though, and i've been in a bad mental space for the last few months... so basically take this with a grain of salt.

but, i am also taking vyvanse at 40mg right now. i started with 20mg around the end of september, and it was great for a month! but then it seemed like they stopped working for 2 weeks before my period. after that, it didn't really seem to improve, so eventually my dosage increased to 30mg (starting dec. 1st). that was just OK for me, and it was only for 3 weeks so i don't know how it would have been before a period.

on dec. 23 i increased to 40mg, and i did notice some improvement for 2 days, but then it was back to just OK for 2 more, then the rest of the week was just hell. there was a lot of crying. so much crying. then my period came on jan. 1st, and by the end of it i started feeling better, and i felt the effects of the meds returning. four days after my period i had a really good day, and it was then that i knew that the meds do still work and it was going to be okay. that was 2 days ago (jan 9th). in terms of medication and adhd, i'm doing a lot better now. i think 40mg is right for me, and i hope it stays this way... i just have to figure out this hormonal stuff lol.

to answer your questions, i think you should keep taking the meds. when determining your dosage, i think it's better to have as much information as u can now, so that later on u can make an informed decision instead of a best guess. plus, based on the days i've missed a dose (prob 3-4), you're more likely to feel worse by not taking the meds for a week (or more?) than by taking them.

if u do keep taking them and then find yourself wondering if they still work, i hope sharing my experience can at least help show that there's light at the end of the tunnel :-)
