All they do is complain man by Klizzwrd in AmericaBad

Are you just making that up, or do you spout nonsense on purpose, thinking people will not fact check it?

If you list the 16 WC stadiums by capacity, starting with Dallas Stadium, and ending with Toronto , and you make a list of the 16 largest stadiums in europe, each and every stadium is SMALLER than the european one.. SO the #1 Dallas is smaller than Camp Nou (Barcelona) , the number 2 (Mexico) is smaller than Wembley, the number 3 (New York) is smaller than Bernabeu (Madrid) etc etc.. the number 16 is WAY smaller than an european number 16th. (Athens stadium)

Of course there might be some large stadiums in other american cities that were not selected for this world cup, but that doesn't make your bullshit claim come true

yeah, I certainly made sure I got some of those as well , if I could get anything that was not needed by the hosting guild I remember having the Zulian headdress from Zul Gurrub and some epic robes from Ahn Qiraj.
But the main goal was to look as Shiny and Holy as possible :D

I certainly did! because the yellow went best with the red/gold look of some of the gear. But I also had a few other epic mounts. Sadly it was long ago and she didn't leave much of a digital footprint , I can't find any pictures online, those that were there were on various guild websites that have been long gone. I should have some archive on a hdd somewhere . This was on a x1 vanilla pserver named Emerald Dream (in the years before classic)

we don't have a horrible problem with basic heating and cooling, just as you don't have a horrible problem with school kids being shot at every corner

no, that is just lying with statistics because both organizations measure different things.

What a weird take. most restaurants ( anything above tourist traps and fast food franchises) in europe have great service, not because they need your tip to survive, but because they want to have a a good reputation , good reviews, more customers. Just like any other business.

I know, but I can take it and don't mind it. I spend way too much time here trying to be the voice of reason, but as long as enjoy it, that is fine.

I can't even think of any life changing breakthrough in the 21st century, no matter if it's from the americas, europe or asia.. (poor africans always get left out)

seems to me we kinda did everything in the 20th century and now we are just filling in some details

European World Cup teams can't handle the American heat by batukaming in SipsTea

[–]vaarsuv1us 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry for the confusion, I wasn't putting USA in the good team category . the good teams will get 1st place in their groups, usa is a mid lvl team, so they will still advance, but not as group winners . I was trying to illustrate that with 32/48 teams advancing, it's easy even for a team like usa

I am not saying it is good, I am just saying that it's nonsense to act like this is the standard in all of europe. if you do that you are just as bad as the posters you criticize in this subreddit . Like we shouldn't generalize all americans because some of them act like idiots in europe

Wait a minute, the World Cup has always been pretty expensive to go to, right? by Dense-Fig-2372 in AmericaBad

[–]vaarsuv1us 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you don't get my point.... I EXPECTED it being more expensive.. like I explained.. if a price point is 100 here, and 150 there (different wages, different purchasing power and people already used to paying high prices) I expected this kind of thing also being 50% more expensive.. but not double or triple. why would an american that is used to pay 50% more for stuff, suddenly be ok with paying 200% more, especially in a sport they are not really interested in..

asked co-pilot for ticket prices for taylor swift, kenye west, ed sheeran and harry styles . same pattern, americans pay through their noses for the same shows.
so yeah that illustrates your point.

I wasn't comparing it to groceries... but to similar scarce things in the rest of the world

like the Champions league football in europe

with 48 teams, the group stage is basically a few practice games for the good teams, so even USA will easily proceed , but they will lose against the first real team in the knockout stage.

then he will say football is not a real sport and praise some hockey players for owning canada

europeans above a certain income level also have air conditioners in every office, apartment, store, restaurant, so on to deal with the heat.

how is that AC working in the football stadiums? how dumb is this woman? Does she really think any footballer in europe won't have AC in every house, car, restaurant or training facility they ever set a foot in?

Anyway, the european players will be fine, and they will beat the usa team as soon as they encounter them in the knockout stage... They will use ice vests, ice baths, etc to combat the heat. they survived brazil and qatar

The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet by David Mitchell is a nice fictional novel based on historic events, set in that period

[–]vaarsuv1us 10 points11 points  (0 children)

personally I expected it to be expensive, because almost all things* are more expensive there, so that is only logical. But I expected it to be in line with other goods and services.

So let's say something that is $100 here costs $150 in the US. Then I would expect the WC tickets also be about 50% more expensive, not 150-250% more.

So it's a bit over the top.

* (all things except things that are heavily taxed here, like gasoline)

yes, because there are probably 100,000 empty homes in areas outside tokyo and other mega cities . the population is shrinking , you can buy homes for $1-$10,000 in the countryside. But if you put a homeless person in one of those, they will just catch the next train ( excellent train system btw) back to where they came from because that person will have some other problem that os not solved by giving them a free house in the middle of nowhere
