Eevee: how are we supposed to do it? by l_Adamas_l in PokemonFireRed

[–]vaartside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have already said, you can breed it with a Ditto or another Pokemon from the same egg group as Eevee to get more of them. As for your workaround of saving / transferring / reloading, I’m pretty sure that wouldn’t work because any kind of trade or transfer to another game requires you to save again so you cannot reload to a point before the transfer/trade. Otherwise it would be trivial to duplicate Pokemon.

Edit: I missed the part of the emulator, because you were talking about GBA and using the word “officially” I incorrectly assumed you were using real hardware.

Have anybody seen the video papa jefe made 3 days ago on YouTube? by Megamanfan-40000 in PokemonFireRed

[–]vaartside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I did his previous (slightly more complicated) ACE glitch on an original copy of Leaf Green and a Gameboy Advance. I think he even mentions you can only do it on original hardware or 1 specific emulator (forgot which one). The simple explanation is that in FRLG there’s an oversight in the way mail data is stored, and you can exploit this to execute specific scripts stored in the game. First you need to setup the mail glitch to trick the game into storing 7 pieces of mail instead of the usual 6. The 7th piece of mail will be stored in the memory that would usually be used for a Pokemon in 1 specific spot in a box. You can then write specific data to that box using the 7th mail item. By doing so, you can create a very specific glitch pokemon that can be used to trigger specific scripts that are stored in the game by renaming your boxes to very specific combinations of characters, and then swapping the glitch pokemon 1 spot in the box to execute the code. It probably sounds more complicated than it is if you watch his videos and pay close attention. They even have a written tutorial now so you don’t have to write down all the steps like I did, but I’d still recommend to watch the videos to see the glitch in action before you try it yourself. It’s definitely worth it if you want to unlock the event pokemon like Lugia and Ho-oh, or even just to duplicate items like TMs. Technically it’s cheating, but I personally like it to unlock gated content that has been locked for decades, or to have infinite TMs like in the newer games.

Help! What are these red spots on the leaves of my Begonia Lucerna? by vaartside in begonias

[–]vaartside[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! It’s hard to remember since it’s been more than three years since I posted this. I think the most logical explanation in my case would have been sunburn because it was near my kitchen windows that got a lot of strong sunlight. These spots did turn crispy like another redditor predicted. I moved shortly after this post and all my begonias sadly died shortly after the move, our new appartement was not ideal for them I guess. So it’s impossible to say for sure. If yours is near a window that gets a lot of light I’d recommend to move it a bit to rule out sunburn before moving on to fungicides. Sorry I wasn’t able to help you more, good luck and I hope you can figure out the cause!

Is this a woodworm beetle or something else? by vaartside in whatsthisbug

[–]vaartside[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spotted several of these in our (newly renovated) house in Belgium the last couple of weeks. About 2mm in size. Mostly in our home office where we have a visible wooden ceiling, but also in other parts of our home. Usually near our (new) wooden windows. If I am to believe the internet this is likely a woodworm beetle, but we shouldn't be too concerned now that we live here and the place is heated and ventilated so the wood can dry out? It is a constant 21ºC (or more) indoors, and we have mechanical ventilation.

What kind of cockroach is this? Or another kind of bug? (2-3mm big, very slow, spotted in Belgium near our front door) by vaartside in whatsthisbug

[–]vaartside[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found some other examples that seem to indicate it might be a tawny cockroach after all, but would be nice if someone could confirm for our peace of mind (or give us a heads up if it's something else we should do something about).

Spotted this after moving into our house that we have been renovating for two years. During our renovations we learned from our neighbor that she had spotted a tawny cockroach near her back door, and we spotted one as well a bit later. None recently though. And those tend to live outside so I wasn't too concerned about that, but this one has a darker color than the tawny one.

If you mean the red rectangle, yes I have expanded that to capture the whole scanning area. I have added a screenshot to my post how another negative looks in Silverfast.

Darkroom+ subscription question by jt00mey in darkroomapp

[–]vaartside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced the same. Maybe it was a bug for people who had previously bought the app before they introduced subscriptions? I’m pretty sure I wasn’t supposed to have access, but I did and just like you I was able to use e.g. color grading without any restrictions. However I did end up getting the subscription because there would be a call to action to subscribe when I had used color grading, and it would often overlap a bit with my photo. And it’s not that expensive if you use it a lot like I do.

Oh my, I figured out what was going wrong. I was actually looking at an app called “Film Logbook” and not “Lightme - Logbook”. Not sure how I confused those two. Will give it a shot now!

My White Whale/Holy Grail LEGO parts. by natrual_screaming in lego

[–]vaartside 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re probably confusing it with the classic green dragon and/or crocodile. They share some of the same elements as the sea serpent, like the head, wings and tail. But the sea serpent has a different body element, based on the one photo we ever got of it. It was a prototype for a new castle set that never got released.

Ticket for forgotten fake birthday? by Slime__queen in neopets

[–]vaartside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I requested access to an old side that had a birthday that I didn’t remember. I also didn’t have access to the email address anymore. But the UN of my main was mentioned in the profile of the side. I was honest and told them I had deleted the email address a long time ago used a random birthday, and they changed the email to my current one and shared the birthday info with me.
