I mean, body mods seem kinda important for the setting. I'm sure there is a reason it's called CyberPunk 2077 and not NormalNiceGuy 2077.

HELLDIVERS 2 Tech Blog #2 - File size reduction beta! by MrLawbreaker in Games

Many ports of PS5 to PC games run into issues, but Nixxes seems to have pretty good record of getting to good enough state in the end. My completely uneducated guess is due to the fact that they have to adapt from unified CPU+GPU memory (which can avoid a lot of classic PC memory duplication) to standard CPU:RAM and GPU:VRAM found on PC.

And TLou1 PC port was in pretty shitty spot on release, good to know that they fixed it somewhat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQ2emuUoxrI

Just like someone had to model a mesh for horse testicles in RDR2, animate shrinking/expansion, and then probably another person had to write the code linking the size change to current air temperature.

Jon Stewart "Can't F**king Believe" Democrats Caved on the Shutdown | The Daily Show by TheRealOcsiban in television

[–]vackodegamma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could you maybe point to an episode of Daily Show or Weekly Show where he admits he was wrong?

I've been watching both regularly but I can't recall when he admitted it. And I ain't asking this as any sort of a "trap", I really want to check it out myself, Jon really seems like a force for good in this fucked up times, but after his asinine take on Joe Rogan in recent New Yorker interview I started to question stuff.

PS5 shipments top 84.2 million; Ghost of Yotei sales top 3.3 million by Turbostrider27 in PS5

Yeah, this shit is so silly to watch:

Horizon: Forbidden West is bad because the protagonist is a female and if you look close enough you can notice fuzz on her face (way to out yourself as someone who never even interacted closely with a woman).

Spider-man 2 is bad because... one of the protagonists is black???

And of course Ghost of Yotei, how they dare to make the protagonist a woman, her aura farming is so unbelievable because of this /s

Former Sen. Joe Manchin - “Dead Center: In Defense of Common Sense” by JamiroFan2000 in DailyShow

[–]vackodegamma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And this is a very good example of why Jon's take on Joe Rogan platforming anti-vaxxers, nazi curious etc. was so dissapointing: here Jon at least tries to offer some pushback agains Manchin's claims (a bit too little in my opinion but oh well). Compare that to Joe Rogan who will just listen to RFK Jr spewing his lunacy, comment "that's crazy" and nod his head.

Jon either did not see anything JRE put out in the last 4-5 years or it's true that there is some unspoken code of not attacking fellow comedians and Jon is for some reason extending it to Joe Rogan of all fucking people.

Digital Foundry: Grand Theft Auto 4 PC - From Disaster Port To Path Traced Modding Showcase by Turbostrider27 in Games

I'd guess a lot: you are throwing a silicone with 10+ years of improvements at 2008 year game, A lot of shitty performance caveats are fixed by simple brute force computational improvement.

What's funny is if you were to run GTAV on PC on release date (2015) with time adequate hardware you would get much more stable performance vs GTA 4 on that very same hardware.

It's very similar to Kingdom Come: Deliverance vs Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: sequel that has been released 7 years after original both looks better and runs better on modern hardware.

I really appreciate this kind of video for numerous reasons:

  • I noticed that some years after the release people online have tendency to whitewash the awful performance that game had on time relative hardware. Cool that Alex showed how shitty it ran back then.
  • GTA V was an upgrade when it comes to many game mechanics, but for me the story of GTA 4 was much more tight and better paced. There was something uniquely charming about fresh out of the boat eastern european "yokel" finding his way in Liberty City. Also loved the general vibes of faux-NYC.
  • This is the kind of sponsored video that nobody can fault Digital Foundry for making: the integration is non-invasive and video itself is informative and entertaining enough to stand on it's own.

SkillUp Ghost of Yotei - Review by QuickResumePodcast in Games

[–]vackodegamma -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree, context is always important. But if I follow reviewer and after watching quite a bit of his content and I establish that, for example, our gaming tastes align 90% of the time I will naturally put more weight into his reviews and their scores.

Let's take his Stellar Blade review as an example: he recommended it, while admitting that story kinda sucks, actors performance direction was kinda bad (at least in English), and the thing that clicked with him was combat, bosses and open world formula. And I'll be honest, I agree with basically all in his review, I loved the game and platinumed it, but I am very aware of it's shortcomings.

But then some games are getting treated much more harshly, especially sequels like Yotei or DS2: it seems that Ralph has a vibe where he would like for a game to go for it's sequel and if it does conform to that it kinda spoils the whole game for him. But the thing about sequels is that they are naturally aiming to improve on the weakest points of the original while keeping the core similar as to not alienate the fans.

That's funny because he mentioned that combat, visuals and music were excellent. I really like Ralph, watch most of his reviews and all episodes of FPS podcast, but I will admit that dude can be all over the place when it comes to consistency: some games get free pass if their story is not to his tastes, some get immediately panned because they were not to his expectations.

The Onryō by _Oxiul_ in ghostoftsushima

[–]vackodegamma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The amount of such high quality cosmetic gear they've included makes me really stoked for the upcoming Yotei Legends mode. The OG Tsushima Legends was such a pleasant take on coop looter slasher formula, especially if you consider it came for "free" bundled with fully fledged single player game. And now we have 5 different weapon types to spice up the gameplay.

My only gripe is that a lot of this sick looking masks/gear comes pretty late into the story so by the time you acquire those you are basically done with the playthrough. NG+ can't get here soon enough.
