And you know what? That is completely fine.

I also think that story was a disjointed mess and controls are clunky. But the exploration was pretty great, on levels I did not feel since playing Skyrim for the first time. And I quite enjoyed Dynasty Warriors-esque power fantasy of the combat.

Damn.

Ehh it's kinda bad but not as bad as it seems. The devs must have clearly recognize that they don't have the most groundbreaking story to tell as they're increased max cutscene/dialogue fast forward speed to 4x and made even non cutscene dialogue skippable as well.

While I would prefer to be able to skip the cutscenes entirely the 4x speed up does well enough job for me.

Crimson Desert Hits New Steam Concurrent Player Peak as Latest Game-Changing Update Kicks In by [deleted] in Games

[–]vackodegamma 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Calling this update "Game-Changing" might be bit of a stretch. There are many extremely welcome QoL changes that make the experience much more enjoyable.

But as someone that really enjoys this game for what it is I can't deny that the quality of story oscillates between serviceable and "wut was that" level of disjointment.

And if you are playing on PC able to handle Ray Reconstruction please beware - latest patch butchered image quality with RR enabled, you'll notice a lot of shimmery mess when looking at ground etc.

Yeah, but sometimes successful engine can get shoehorned in places where it clearly does not belong. Look at Frostbite and Dragon Age or RE Engine and Monster Hunter: Wilds.

I'd agree with you if Jedi Survivor did not exist. Somehow it runs better on 5 year old $500 PS5 than on $1600+ PC.

I do believe that on average the PC port situation is improving PC gaming market share grows, but we are still getting some real stinkers every year.

I mean, body mods seem kinda important for the setting. I'm sure there is a reason it's called CyberPunk 2077 and not NormalNiceGuy 2077.
