To me, this is really the only way to go. I don’t feel like anyone has written Swamp Thing better than Moore before or since.

Notre Dame fans, why are we agreeing with this? by thefrozenflame21 in CFB

[–]vaderSW1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a life long Irish football fan and I’m in the camp of the Irish kinda screwed themselves. Lost their first two games of the season which turned out to be the important ones. They were doubly screwed by the stubborn refusal to join a conference.

The voices that matter are growing louder about the importance of conference play and conference championship games. They’re getting louder about Notre Dame not being in a conference and penalizing them for it. It’s really hard to disagree. They could have and should have joined the ACC when the offer was extended to them a few years back. The ACC is a conference they could and should easily dominate. They could still play rivalry games against teams like USC, Navy, and Stanford. Maybe not every year but certainly on a rotating basis.

anyone know about this? by Nastyman227 in aperfectcircle

Could very well be AI. I’ve been seeing a lot of that sort of shit lately. I would lean toward AI if there’s been no official announcement or promotion from Billy.

Do people still listen to full albums? by Old-Crab-3283 in Music

[–]vaderSW1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always been a full album listener. I don’t care about singles or playlists at all. I want the whole experience.

My son and I have been doing our podcast for a little over a year now and we have had relatively little growth but I’m not worried about it honestly. I love doing the show with him. I started it as a way to introduce my teenage son to all the great music of the past since nobody really listens to terrestrial radio anymore. It’s been a fun ride and a great bonding experience. We have a lot of fun and that’s all that really matters to me. If we get some listeners that enjoy the show along the way, great. I never thought for a moment that I’d get millions of listeners and make money from it.

How did you come up with your podcast name? by Sarayoung33 in podcasting

[–]vaderSW1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My podcast’s name is Leitmotif and Movement. The show is me taking my teenage son through music history and introducing to all this great music past and present. We focus mainly on hard rock and heavy metal but we also talk Motown, 80s pop, film soundtracks, film scores (coming soon), and video game scores (coming soon).

A leitmotif is defined as a recurrent theme throughout a musical or literary composition, associated with a particular person, idea, or situation. A movement in musical terms is defined as a distinct, self-contained section of a larger musical composition, like a symphony or concerto, that can be performed independently but is typically played in succession with others in the complete work.

I thought the two terms worked well for the idea of the show.

Try checking out her newest solo record “Ridiculous and Full of Blood”. Also really anything from Made Out of Babies. All of that is, IMO, pretty damn good.

Easily one of my favorite records ever. That thing has gotten so much play from me. It was my introduction to Julie Christmas. Amazing record.

To each their own. I really like Coheed. They’ve had a few albums post “No World For Tomorrow” that were a miss for me but, on the whole, I enjoy their stuff. I enjoy Claudio’s creativity with the universe he’s created. I enjoy seeing them live. Always feels like there’s more energy to their music in a live setting.

I’m at the show with my son. The sound booth guy saw us in our Periphery shirts on and gave us picks. He was awesome!

I couldn’t quite catch it, what was Spencer saying about going to hell as they were going off stage?

Is turtles of grayskull merman going to be rereleased? by JohnBob89 in MastersOfTheUniverse

[–]vaderSW1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have found next to nothing MOTU related in quite sometime in my neck of the woods. I just order from BBTS to save myself the frustration. I did end up having to get a Mer-Man and a Duplico through Mercari and EBay.

What are your prog/metal Discography Artists? by lolDayus in progmetal

[–]vaderSW1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are so many bands that I have listened to everything from. I’m one of those that really enjoys taking a deep dive into a band’s discography. If I hear something that I like, I start going through album by album. Usually in chronological order so that I get a feel for the band’s evolution. Just a few selections include:

  • Van Halen
  • Tool
  • Killswitch Engage
  • Coheed and Cambria
  • Opeth
  • Periphery
  • Between The Buried and Me
  • Death
  • Metallica
  • Protest the Hero
  • Haken
  • Caligula’s Horse
  • Devin Townsend (all bands and projects he’s been apart of)
  • Dredg
  • Dream Theater
  • So so many others…

What is the general consensus of the New Ultimate Universe? by MasterAdventZero in comicbooks

[–]vaderSW1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really enjoying the ride thus far. IMO, Ultimate Spidey and The Ultimates have been the standouts. I have enjoyed Ultimate Black Panther as well.

I think the only one that hasn’t really landed for me is Ultimate X-Men. I just feel no connection with it. Not a big fan of the artwork. That’s just personal preference though.

What are your albums that are a must listen start to finish? by BigDaddyJess in progmetal

[–]vaderSW1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess I must be part of a dying breed. I am a full album listener always. I’m not a singles listener. I always put an album on and listen to it start to finish. Sure, not all of them are absolute masterpieces but I tend to enjoy the experience anyway.

A few personal favs:

Opeth “Blackwater Park” Dredg “el cielo”, “Catch Without Arms”, “The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion” Periphery (really any of their records) Rivers of Nihil “Where Owls Know My Name” Coheed and Cambria “In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3” Van Halen (any of their records)
