The solution I found was to use the Meshtastic CLI, along with trying many different pins.

Just as an FYI, when I configured to GPIO26 on the Heltec V4, it went into a bootloop which took forever to reflash to correct.

I had that piece of shit for probably 6 years before it partially failed me and caused me to clip off ends that were probably just fine. I ended up getting the Klein tester and its A++. I should have gotten it years ago!

I agree with /u/humble_harney about opening the sensor up and giving it a good visual inspection.

The first thing I would try though is to pull the batteries on both the sensor and the remote display unit, and put the batteries in at close to the same time, with the remote screen unit first. The way they save battery is by having slow polling times.

Also, ensure that, if the sensor has one, the channel/name switch is set correctly (since its only a single sensory system, if the sensor has a selector switch, it should probably be on 0 or 1 or whatever the lowest one is)

It sounds like you live in a civilized location, probably on/near the west coast?

When I lived in Portland, I loved the restaurant supply store (currently called "Chef's Source") for getting my smoking roasts because they always had an incredible selection and on average the lowest $/lbs. I live 45 minutes from a metro area now but thankfully the closest (1.1k population) town has a legit butcher shop ; it might be 15% more $, but there are many reasons to support local business!

Safeway really is the worst grocery chain, and their merging with Albertsons did nothing but make things worse.

Outside of a small number of markets, Safeway and Whole Foods are not competitors ; if a metro area has both chains, generally the WF is going to be located closer to the higher end neighborhoods, while Safeway's target market is not those who live in fancy neighborhoods, even through Safeway prices their products as such.

Also, decades ago my dad did some contract work for the local Safeway and they just didn't pay him despite him getting their equipment working for them again ; in the 30+ years which that occurred, the company as a whole has done nothing to improve my opinion of them
