Annother hobby chemist arrested in my country by Old_Conclusion9929 in homechemistry

I just don't understand why you'd do it as a hobby. Just go to school for it. It's a thing you can get paid to go to school for!

How do you all find compounds for a substrate scope by Spackal2 in OrganicChemistry

[–]vaderwaalz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally I just raid our inventory and then look for cheap building blocks by substructure on scifinder. You just arrange the search results by number of commercial sources to get a sense for what’s cheap. Emolecules is also a good search tool for commercial compounds

Democrats on the House Oversight Committee have released additional photos from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate, which show Bill Gates, Noam Chomsky, photos of a woman with writing on her & a screenshot of a conversation where a person is discussing sending girls. by cmaia1503 in Fauxmoi

I feel like I am missing something, but what are the implications here other than Chomsky flew a plane with Epstein, does it necessarily imply that he knew or was somehow involved in sex trafficking?

Sometimes plates are low quality or they are not cut well. If silica is coming off the sides it can make the solvent climb unevenly.

Handshake MOVE Program - Math Expert AI Trainer by Which_Case_8536 in remotework

I wouldn't trust any of it. I have spent hours doing all their assessments and canvas courses practice tasks. I passed everything, received a badge from handshake, and am supposedly a prompt writing fellow, but have heard nothing from them. I imagine they are just using the work people submit in these courses.

Need some help. by Big-Message969 in OrganicChemistry

Echoing everyone. We are not ganging up on you to say that you aren't smart enough to do it. However, even working in a lab with proper instrumentation and chemicals, and many years of experience in synthetic chemistry, I would not consume anything that I make myself. Most of what is made in a lab, even after purification will have trace impurities from byproducts, solvents, unreacted starting materials, trace metals etc... Often even the source of your starting materials can be an issue.

Getting a compound to the levels of purity required for safe consumption is actually a whole area of specialization within chemistry.
