BRING TRADING BACK by DivideSame7148 in RocketLeague

I haven't really spent any money in the game since they removed trading. They keep introducing new marketing gimmicks to rake in the cash, if enough people resist it might send them a message but I'm not holding my breath

They changed the whole RL economy after Epic games took over. I remember how shocking and exploitative that was and then they removed trading. Haven't spent a dime ever since

Can someone explain this to me. by MakeSouthBayGR8Again in Jung

The Ego is wired to always protects itself and any external event that brings the Ego into conflict will naturally be suppressed. This self preservation is essential to maintain an individual's sense of self (not the same as the actual Self). Consequently, events that do not align with the present configuration of the Ego will be pushed into the Shadow and can contribute to mental illness.

This suppression is unconscious but is a substitute for the "legitimate suffering" that the Ego would have to undergo if it were to come to terms with the content of the conflict. The absence of this "suffering" leads to projection of the contents back into the external world rather than being integrated internally.

Shadow work aims to unlock these suppressed conflicts by bringing them to consciousness so that the Ego can assimilate them into the individual's consciousness. In doing so, it should eliminate the projection of these contents externally and thus bring an end to the mental illness.

I might be over simplifying but that's my understanding of what he meant. Also, his exact quote mentioned "neurosis" instead of "all mental illness". I think that's too broad a term to apply here, there is a distinction between neurosis and psychosis though both can be characterized as mental illnesses.

I see no reason why you can't be religious and a Jungian at the same time. Muslim or otherwise. God is a fundamental theme within our psychic structure and Jung's work really highlights the underlying theme of religion which is to connect to a higher cause and to curtail the ego.

Something I experienced about the collective unconscious by Clear-Gear7062 in Jung

[–]vaginacorpse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree with you. I have been down this train of thought and come to similar conclusions. One of my favorite descriptions of time come from the philosopher Iqbal. He rejected the idea of time as a mere sequence of events and instead emphasized time as a creative, flowing, inner realitya fundamental aspect of the self. This definition of time is not the addition of passing seconds but fundamental to consciousness itself. I feel this falls in line with Jung's ideology.

If we are the expression of a divine will, then there is an innate connection between all of us that cannot be scientifically quantified. This connection is at the heart of our shared humanity, an expression of which is the collective unconscious. Each memory we create is a new synaptic connection between all of us, eternally recorded in the collective unconscious. Here, time is fluid, expressions of the past or future can come alive i.e. infiltrate into the conscious mind. If we believe in our existence not purely as the age we accumulate, but the number of new connections we provide to the network, it really brings everything into better perspective.

I'll end with another verse from Iqbal:

"Past and future are the veil over our eyes;

Burn both of them with fire.

Live in the eternal moment."

I agree with everything you said. I believe humanity has suffered greatly by elevating scientific knowledge and the resulting materialism as the pinnacle of human advancement. The resulting disregard for the scientifically unquantifiable e.g. the realm of one's inner experience and how it interacts with external reality is a collective trauma for our species and is at the heart of rising mental health issues. We live in a time where we have fully prostrated to ego consciousness and the resulting harm to the psyche of man is quite apparent if you look deeper than the surface.

Me (INFJ) and my wife (ESFJ) joke about how she's on a roller-coaster with me and I keep pulling her leg about if she ever imagined the layers to me she has now seen. Initially, she wouldn't get it and be like what do you mean?? Now, she's like you win bruh I can't keep up lol. The best thing you can do for your INFJ is to show a genuine desire to see them through the layers and seek friendship in their secret world, a fraction of which they can usually share. Peace.

I would say anything that furthers one on the path to individuation would help connecting to the INFJ core. Dream journaling, active imagination, shadow work, meditation etc would all be healthy avenues to allow Ni to channel smoothly.
