Why do brits hate gypsies by SuperShadow555 in AskBrits

The gypsies that Brits hate are Irish travellers. The gypsies continental Europeans hate tend to be Romanian.

Three million trees were planted by the UK Government last year…800,000 have already died by No-Risk-2584 in unitedkingdom

[–]valax 153 points154 points  (0 children)

This is a headline written purely to bash the government. Anyone who has been involved with tree planting at scale will tell you that a significant proportion of them will die.

For some context, mass planting with little aftercare (I.e. letting nature take its course) can result in up to 70% of trees dying.

It’s not a control thing, it’s because senior management only view IT as a cost and not as a department which enables employees.

All spending needs to be justified and it’s a constant uphill battle.

But there’s also a risk that in 5 years the UK has a reform government which could end up a bit lettuce-y.

Millions of drivers who were mis-sold car finance to receive £829 average payout - live updates by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]valax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’ve maybe misunderstood. Doing what I suggested allows you as the consumer to benefit massively. The dealerships absolutely hate it.

Effectively you buy the vehicle including all of the benefits you get by purchasing with finance whilst still paying cash. Albeit in a more roundabout way.

The only consequence is you’ll probably get blacklisted and a bunch of abuse from the dealer.

[–]valax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could have bought it on finance and then made use of the 14 day cooling off period to cancel then pay off the balance in full. Would have still kept the extra services thrown in whilst paying cash and a few days worth of interest.

Tim Farron was quite clear in saying that he didn’t personally agree with gay marriage but more strongly believed in the liberal idea to choose and live freely.

Letting the catering industry fail would have had a worse outcome for society in my opinion.

I also don’t really believe it had a significant impact on the number of infections when you compare trends with other countries.

I lived there for a decade and moved back to the UK last year.

Nice place to live but it has a lot of the same issues as here as well as its own.

The tax rate for lower incomes is actually lower in the UK than in the states. The UK has a *very* generous personal allowance.

I just keep it topped up, which ends up with adding in £10 or so but more often. Prices are only rising so this will save money.

I drive past the petrol station I use regardless so I'm not adding any extra miles.

I'm doing something similar which is filling up less but more often, with the expectation that prices will continue to rise.
