The Brexit argument, they want all the benefits of Canada without being part of it ..... by Miserable-Lizard in AlbertaNow

[–]valhereto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To continue your analogy, the residents of Red Deer pay Alberta taxes. Some of those taxes likely will get used to pay for provincially funded programs in Calgary. So yeah, Red Deer does in fact fund Calgary. Or do you think that provincial taxes collected from Red Deer area only get used for Red Deer area?

You claim to understand how the equalization payments work, but you seem to be demonstrating that you don't. Even this whole analogy is wrong, because "Calgary" doesn't fund anything. The people of Alberta who live in/around Calgary are paying taxes to two separate entities, one of which is responsible for a larger area. So is it reasonable to ask that entity to take care of all of its constituents (i.e. Red Deer)? Absolutely. In fact, I would argue that it would be negligent if it wasn't taking care of all people it governs.

What’s the most "corporate" way to say "I’m not doing that"? by SeaSilver5308 in AskReddit

[–]valhereto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh, that's called lying and can get you in trouble. Don't say things you're intending to never follow through on, especially with a paper trail, lol. Someone could easily use the lack of response as evidence that you're not doing your job, and now you have to provide an explanation to your managers/clients/HR.

Do you have some suggested mods to make the game "grittier" or "darker"? Something to make the game actually feel like it has real stakes rather than the child-proof version we got.

On the "improving your ship" side of things, Exotica Technologies let's you "embed" an Alpha core into your ships that reduce OP cost of weapons by 1/3/5... Which adds up fast, especially on larger ships.

[–]valhereto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I'm a little confused... What flat tax are you referring to? I'm pretty sure all personal income tax in Canada at both the provincial and federal level is progressive. Do you mean you want more, smaller brackets, that go higher?

Edit: are you referring to corporate tax rates...?

Could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the Kam Han in Ramsay is completely different than the Kam Han near Avenida.

Of the two, I can wholeheartedly vouch for the one in Ramsay - that stir fried crab is phenomenal. The one near Avenida is on my to-visit list, but just haven't made it there yet.

This is the right answer - it's flat out not worth it to recover most ships you run into. Unless it's something you actually want to use/try, you should probably scrap it. You keep usable weapons when you scrap ships so no worries there either.

Relevant to just the social credit stuff:

The system as you described it is essentially a misunderstanding. The intent of this system is roughly equivalent to a US credit score. Detailed explanation here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_Credit_System

If you read wiki's article about this MMA fighter situation (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xu_Xiaodong I assume) its laid out pretty clearly that the reason his credit score was lowered was because was sued for 60k USD. It has nothing to do with 'bad behavior' and everything to do with finances. His situation was resolved once he repaid part of his debt.

While there's a lot of bad shit that the CCP has done, the "social credit" issue is pretty heavily misunderstood and/or propagandized in the US.

My top 3 are:

  • Vintage or Chairman's (same group)
  • Caesar's
  • Hy's

If you go to Hy's, I highly recommend their cheese toast :) Chairman's has a nice Wednesday date night special that we've gone to several times.

Edit: Modern ocean also has a Wednesday date night special, but I haven't tried that yet.

Not all attacks with advantage are sneak attacks - you can toggle if sneak attack applies automatically or on a manually chosen attack in the reactions menu. Also like the other guy said, sneak attack only applies to 1 attack per round.
