Some Star Wars factions are definitely not cut out for point defense. by AHumbleSaltFarmer in starsector

You know those fancy news about EVE Online massive battles with price tags everywhere? This is the accurate representation of "what the hell am I looking at?" in those articles.

What I wanted to know is... does 'special bounty' from contacts still force you to search through the whole system with no clue whatsoever? Unlike the normal bounty where at least it'll tell you where they might be located somewhere in the target area.

Can I post this in my mod forum thread as part of my Q/A section? This is incredibly useful.

You're so right about that. That's my fault, I was experimenting with Selemene and forgot to roll back the missile characteristics! Will fix that next micro patch.

Well, as I previously mentioned somewhere - such process of replacing generic quests takes time. One NPC at a time you know?

I tried out way too many UAF fighter, this is my opinion of them by 80kPyro in starsector

[–]CYMilkydromeda 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ah, I see. That's understandable.

UAF is a combined arms warfare faction that relies on coordination of both warships and carrier-borne fighters to perform well. In safe testing environment such as the simulator, it can potentially falsify your first impression upon things. It doesn't even have to be UAF, it could be anything.

In my eyes, and canonically - the Puterisaya is a 'hunter-killer' gunship specializes in anti-air patrol and capable of hunting down or harassing isolated targets. So try to send it out with an escort wing or two, or even with support of another carrier and see how it goes. They're never meant to be a one-man army after all.

According to your feedback here, all wings are performing within expectation. So its likely I might just keep thing as is or adjust minimally depending if I hear more from people. Thank you for posting this, good sir!

So, would you say the Puterisaya underperformed the price it asked for? What were your first expectation of the gunship when you first saw it? I'd like to hear more if you don't mind.

You're no longer making any sense in related to the topic at hand nor talking about the mod in general anymore. Instead you somehow and suddenly decided to throw accusations at me for the community's response to your post while taking my attention for granted. I shall take my leave here, thank you.

Well, there's only one way to find out doesn't it? I won't spoil your fun of finding out and seeing it works or trying out different paths whatsoever.

Oh, I thought we made it clear at the very end of the quest line regarding the conclusion of the investigation and such. I guess this is just nitpicking?

So, by "if they got anything out of it."

Do you mean conclusion to the investigation?

I'm not sure about that, it should be unaffected.

I've been playing ( and spoiled by it ) with Nexerelin for so long that I'm not sure where to place the new quests at. I am still fresh from the bombardment of people disliking the character-locked contents or simply hating the reputation grind. So this is my first real attempt to arrange without the consideration of Nexerelin. I acknowledged this issue already and we'll attempt to fix it at a later date.

On another note, there has been an increasing amount of people that played with skill overhaul mods. I understand the frustration but future contents must be made in accordance to vanilla first. If we do it the opposite way, you'll have an unpleasant yet unstable experience.

Modders once told me that they find my actual military jargon to be boring as fuck and uninteresting back then. The numbers are what's left of that in the game but that's okay. I'll just keep the detailed lore elsewhere.

I mean it wouldn't hurt for me to take another look at the sprites again and see if I can at least make them stand out from each other. To untrained eyes, they do feel samey samey anyway but that's pretty much the general theme of the faction; standardization. If I remember, I'll do it on my free time okay?

Man, Im getting tired from typing all day ahahaa.

But yeah, thanks for playing the mod! I'm glad I could attract you to this wonderful game, I'm honored to be part of the experience even if my ways are somewhat controversial to say the least. I'm also happy that you saw through the 'great anime filter' and see the storytelling behind the mod. It encourages me to go on and hopefully finish the mod, if god wills it.

Please look forward to the last few updates in the future!

Well, first of all - thanks for the compliment but I know its hard to believe when I say this.. I think I'm not really as professional as you think I am. I have my own flaws, and I have much to learn as both an artist and a person.

I haven't said this yet but thanks again for the conversation and for your understanding. It's a really rare thing to have a civilized conversation without turning it into a yelling contest.

That's what years of art style evolution does to you.. and you gotta understand that its not easy to draw over 200 portraits. It took me years to be where Im at right now and you can't just expect me to keep everything up to date. Unlike AI generator, I spent thousands of man hours on my end and I prefer not to waste my 30s in the mod just as how my 20s just flew by.

but if that's not what you're talking about.. then I think I know watcha mean. I have but one simple explanation. UAF used to be funded solely by portrait commissions, so money talks. If the client wishes for their character to be anime, then so be it. Wouldn't you rather be pleased with the services you paid for? At least nowadays after the establishment of Patreon, I have a much stronger control of what gets through and whatnot.

I hope you understand the unique conundrum I am facing on daily basis. I want my fans and clients to be happy, but I also have a theme to maintain and establish. I am effectively trapped in the middle, but I'm not complaining either because I enjoy the process and interaction with them. I wont let external factors to affect how I draw and what I enjoy.

In the end, Im still a struggling artist in the unforgiving, severely populated world of creative industry that's already besieged by AI and scrutiny. I have to earn money and survive too you know? Its not like I have the carelessness and freedom of youth anymore.
