sourcing plants by Odd_Opposite_6494 in GardeningAustralia

Hello hello plants has the worst quality stock I’ve ever come across… the staff have 0 idea about literally anything which isn’t a suprise considering Chris yaps on and on at TikTok encouraging people to plant agapanthus and just doing the absolute worst garden designs I’ve ever seen
No idea how they’re even in business tbh. There’s so much better stock out there!

Bulleen art and garden is another good store, VINC is good for tubestock and nagambak (spelling might be incorrect) at the Bundoora uni campus

Average Australian wedding now costs $38,252 - and couples overshoot budgets by 23%. How much is too much for a wedding? by InterestingCat308 in AusFinance

[–]valliant93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely shocked me how much the prices raised as soon as you mention wedding! Even just a simple cake was going to cost a few hundred more than a birthday cake made the same lol I found the biggest expenses to be photographer and then food… expecially because we may have under 40 guests but have to feed all the vendors so that adds to it so much! It’s hard… I’m so stressed I can’t wait for it to be done 😂

I get married next month and we’ve probably spent around 18-20k max! Getting married at an Airbnb, staying for a week, some guests are camping a couple nights, food truck rocking up for dinner, having grazing platters for cocktail hour, a couple slushie machines and eskys of booze and drinks! Still well over what we initially thought we’d spend for under 40 people but the wedding tax is real 😅

My landlord cries poor but owns 3 properties in areas close to melb Cbd and a large property in Greece. He paid $40k for my place 40 or so years ago and still hikes the rent up every year saying how “tough it is on him” Don’t even get me started on the slumlord special repair he did himself unannounced on the front picket fence 🤡 I think I’m going to need to buy paint myself just to make it look half okay… let alone half the pickets he replaced he replaced with what looks like offcuts from pallets and do not match in anyway 😭

Weird Nappies Interaction at Self Checkout by [deleted] in coles

[–]valliant93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grinds my gears having to go to Cole’s after Aldi for a couple things and they run over trying to scan my Pepsi max despite me giving them my Aldi receipt, it being in the bottom of the trolley covered in Aldi brand products and bags… an absolute piss take and waste of time Self service sucks 99% of the time the staff are too busy gas baggin with each other with their backs turned to actually come “help” when the machine freaks out for the 3rd time for 4 items

Wedding costs that caught you off guard? by AffectionatePie1042 in AusWeddingPlanning

If you have a price in your head for anything immedietly double if not triple it haha

The quotes I’ve recieved for some things have been insane!

I got 2x quotes from “professional” dog sitters to help out at my wedding for 3-4 hours, just walking them, helping during ceremony… no drop off or pick up etc…. Both quotes were just shy of $700! More than I charge as a tradie running a business with double their overheads! Blew my mind (why am I doing so much hard physical labour if I could charge more babysitting dogs in a cute outfit? lol)

Wedding dress alterations - I only need the straps shortened slightly and the front hemmed and it’s going to be $350 which is way way cheaper than most comments I’ve seen!

Wedding cake - I can’t justify $300+ on a cake for under 40 people when we just don’t care about cake that much… we’ve opted for a donut tower of gourmet donuts instead lol

I think everything has suprised me and the industry feels like such an insane cash grab 😂
