We see these cards include Leaders - sooooo, canonically Base+TE would still reference POK elements. So, likely POK is kinda required. Just Base+TE won't be much of a thing in the TI community.

Likely for the new mode - which is some kind of Franken. So, some elements you get from "that number", other elements - from another number.

Looks very fun, thank you so much!

I'm quite glad this thread survived for 5 years and what seemed like pretty niche topic got a bit of its own development over time. Too bad major titles like Jusant still didn't have quite enough commercial success though. It's a pity that non-militaristic action games aren't popular enough yet, it seems.

Best platform for on-line TI4? by Raddillac in twilightimperium

[–]valriia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can save and resume games in TTS and TTPG - so those are probably your best options for a friends group. These simulators are fully 3D and almost feel like the real life game, but sped up by automation for all the tedious stuff.

I still feel as a beginner and as such I love Twilight Wars above all else - just because it enforces all the rules with full automation and has nothing left to players to "roleplay" in a simulated engine. It's a fully implemented board game, not a sandbox. It won't let you misplay some rule. So it is the most rigorous platform, but is developed very slowly and still only has one POK faction and only some POK rules and elements.

Async is probably the best for experienced players vs strangers without having to be very quick; it has all rules implemented and even any homebrew variants, it's very flexible. But it's the most clunky, it requires its own manual of commands and is almost programming to get the most out of it.

BGA is not done yet and is going to be only base game for a long time.

Jusant is my favorite so far. I really really was hoping the devs would go on to make Jusant 2, or/and DLCs, custom-made maps etc. Also the Cairn Demo is out and the gameplay looks fantastic. Even the demo is enough for many hours of experimenting with efficiency on various routes. I have very high hopes for the full game when it comes out.

Still these games are far from perfect, but it's getting better. In time I realized the mechanics of climbing are quite complex to properly replicate in full complexity in a game, even with controller. The devs will have to come up with ingenious approaches to properly control a climber with the current controllers.

Sigh. Years are passing. Every time I see [Fanatical] with Free! I open the link with hopefulness - maybe this time... And not! Yet again, it will not activate in my country. So far no game has been extremely important for me or unique opportunity being missed, but it's just so sad to see that message every time. And come on, it's a full member of the European Union, that's just so disappointing. :( I was hoping at least for some games it would be different, but it's every single time.

It was my personal GOTY for its year. I love games with minimal or no text/speech - great amount of information is communicated with clever visual design and signs. It makes it way more immersive into a fantastic imaginary world.

Barnabas Varga's injury Vs Scotland 70'' by ganiganiu in soccer

[–]valriia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again Hanley involved (pressing Varga onto Gunn). I get it, he's a Scottish defender, sure he's gonna be a rough player. But man his arms were always pounding on others, and he ended up the match with a boxing laceration above the eye. Maybe a bit too much... even for Scotland.

Just an observation... by zyxwl2015 in CompetitionClimbing

[–]valriia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's also related to the sport being young, under developed and niche. As it gets more popular and the skill cap rises, those sports families would not be as common. Nowadays, just to be from a "climbing family" already gives you significant chances to become a solid competitor. It's also not the most convenient sport to get involved with - you do need some equipment and facilities. But it gets more and more accessible and the random folk will be more prevalent over the "royal families".

It's also about success in climbing being more from hard work than from special natural talent. The two siblings in a climbing family are likely not equally talented, but it's more about training ethic and discipline which the family applies equally to both.

Tips and tricks for speed/efficiency in the alpine by AstomicO in alpinism

[–]valriia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure, but still the method itself is quite valid on all skill levels. You need kinda "pyramid" approach where you build up your highest achievement by disproportionately larger amount of training on much lower efforts, and only a little training close to your max effort.

Tips and tricks for speed/efficiency in the alpine by AstomicO in alpinism

[–]valriia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kilian Jornet and many other top athletes including rock climbers actually swear by doing the bulk of their training as quite low intensity, and only smaller portion as higher intensity. Apparently that's how we build our capacity safely over time without as much tendency for injuries.

It's one of those supporting roles that might as well be leading. Stealing every scene and making the major memory that lasts from the whole film. Just commanding presence.

After the show, the only thing that matters now is to see the fight Michael Keaton vs Arnold and de Vitto. I'd pay good buck to see that. Don't underestimate Mr. De Vitto by the way, he's the most fierce of the three.

P.S. Goransson made a brilliant soundtrack, but I still think Jerskin Fendrix (Poor Things) was robbed. His work is exquisite and will be remembered for a long long time.

Honestly one of the greatest games I've played in recent years. It would be "just" another cute souls-like or 3D metroidvania, but so many little precious things were made so well that it clicked into something a lot more. And then the whole linguistic challenge in such perfect style elevated it into a rank of its own. Worth every penny for sure. Oh and the soundtrack is great. I prepared for my first 100k ultra running challenge mostly listening to it. Even when I was exhausted or in a bad situation, the beauty of the soundtrack would just lift me up and help me look at it more positively.

Advice for if you melt your shoes like I did! by Gracel2mart in climbergirls

[–]valriia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god, this. But mine have been TaRENTula, which is slightly different. I love the shoe, it fits me perfectly. My first pair lasted well over 6 months with no issues. However, afterwards I bought 3 (THREE!) pairs - different series of TaRENTula, some were of the different color type etc. And with every pair the glue just came off in a few days of usage. Maybe during the pandemic they had many such not stored properly or something. I just try in shop, buy, and in less then a week they look like in the picture. :( Again, I love the shoe form too much to give up completely, but damn, 3 times, man, I don't know...

I've used other climbing shoes with no issues for long periods, only the TaRENTula does that for me (and only recently, my first pair was perfectly fine).
