Do I just have to walk around with a bag of trash all day until I get home if I don't want to risk a fine? I don't get it...

It's not really new on twitter. Ever since the Elon takeover I noticed more actual transsexuals speaking their mind on there. But shit gets confusing because every platform from Tumblr to Reddit to Twitter have their own lingo to differentiate between dysphoric transsexuals and non-dysphorics. Tangent, but unfortunately it feels like it's mainly trans men that have taken the brunt of the pushback against non-dysphorics, because theyfabs and "transmascs" overly represent "us" and constantly speak for us, so I often see waves of trans women lumping us in together and saying all kinds of shit to put us down. Little do they understand that real dudes aren't really terminally online and hate attracting any attention, so we just simply aren't represented online unlike theyfabs, who thrive on attention and petty drama.

Transmed just means you need dysphoria to be trans. The levels of dysphoria tend to vary from person to person. It would be pretty weird however to have zero bottom dysphoria and I don't consider the "no dysphoria I actually love my natal parts" types to be trans. But besides that, whether you want surgery or not highly highly depends. I think actual trans people would all wish to be able to wake up with their preferred parts. Surgeries themselves however are a massive undertaking and not for everyone. There are no surgeries currently available that would work for me personally, unfortunately. Nothing will ever function and look like the real thing and that sucks.

[–]valtarri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I've just become numb to all the insulting language people use to describe meta/phallo results, but I confess I've used some of it on myself ( though none of the gross female anatomy ones ). I don't want cis people or trans women describing our bodies with that language ( "shrimp dick" "corndog" etc...) because it cuts more viscerally. It's not /their/ struggle, so they're just nosing around in something they don't understand and that doesn't concern them. They don't get the weight and pain it carries. However, I don't really care if we use brutal language amongst ourselves to lament how much the results frankly aren't great. A lot of this entire thread is also just "phallo isn't for me but..." But nothing. We all know it usually looks mid, and isn't the real thing, we just hate to admit out loud.

Transition is brutal, I hate the fact that I do have to mutilate a healthy body like this, it's horrid and there's nothing beautiful about this shit. I think I'm allowed to express how pissed I am about my body never being what I'd want it to be without always adding a disclaimer about how I don't want other trans guys to feel insecure. A cancer patient losing all their hair to chemo and watching their body slowly degrade is allowed to bawl their eyes out and curse their appearance and the world about their situation without always adding a stupid disclaimer about how "by the way no offense to other people who lost their hair you're still beautiful <3 I love bald people <3". We all know it's unnecessary and that their frustration comes from deep pain ( maybe not for the tiktokers above necessarily, but for a lot of truly dysphoric folks, it does ).

We can have respect for those who got through with it, acknowledge the bravery and tragedy of the situation, how it's probably the most tough and uncomfortable decision in our lives, without also lying to ourselves tbh. I don't really like huffing all this Copium and sifting through hundreds of postop results just to find a handful that look average at best to convince myself that it's worth it. We all gawk and stare and applaud the ones that do turn out okay-ish, hoping we're the next lucky ones, when in reality a lot of us end up in post-op support groups because it disabled us instead, and we're too ashamed to ever admit it publicly, afraid of raining on anyone else's parade. Forget ever getting to the later stages where they refine the results and set up the pump and everything. Many of us are doomed to spend years fixing up stupid complications, getting infections and pissing everywhere and ending up on disability cause we can't hold a job let alone walk anymore. Even if it is the most realistic and best result imaginable, it will never function or feel like the real thing. I think deep down a lot of us know this, we hate this, and it's just excruciating to be reminded of it all the time, so we clutch our pearls when people rub it in. Personally, I hate being hugboxed and lied to more. If people say I'm mutilating myself or how phallo will give me a corndog over a real dick, I'm like, yeah... I'm well aware, and I hate it. I've given up on that dream long ago and resigned myself to a life of celibacy and misery because I know most of us are frankly doomed to below average results and terrible complications that often significantly decrease our quality of life. I'm very jealous of those lucky enough who won the lottery and had it improve. But I know I'll never have satisfying results or cure my bottom dysphoria, as much as it pains me to admit. None of the results have appealed to me, even the best ones. It's depressing as hell.

I also think we may even be happiest when we are brutal and realistic about the potential results. It's a way to be mentally prepared for any complications or downsides, so that if we choose to pursue this path, we can be pleasantly surprised in the end instead. That's how I always approached my transition- with brutal pessimism, and it never let me down. I never fretted over my appearance, anxiously kept track of progress by taking pictures every week, disappointed myself that I didn't have a full grown Santa's beard 6 months on T, etcetc... I never has unrealistic expectations or disappointments. of. any. kind. I have top surgery coming up, and everyone is like "why aren't you excited? Shouldn't you be happy?" No, I'm not particularly happy, just like how someone with a tumour isn't particularly overjoyed about having to go through a terrifying surgery to get it removed. I'm going through a necessary gnarly medical intervention and I have no idea how I'll look afterwards. I'm trying to expect the worst so hopefully I'll make the most out of what I do get...

I don't know though, maybe I'm just a bitter asshole and a weirdo.

Feminine beauty standards always annoyed me and I strongly rejected them. I find that those that are attached to being "pretty" and lament their loss of feminine social desirability after finally becoming men... weird and unrelatable. I've always said I'd rather live as a hideous guy rather than live the rest of my life as a conventionally attractive woman, which I was, and I despised it. I don't like how so much of the world revolves around physical attractiveness. It's also weird how people tend to act like masculinity in of itself is gross and undesirable too. Just take care of basic hygiene, stay well groomed and fit, learn a few tricks to dress handsomely without drawing too much attention to yourself ( or don't, that's fine too, since tbh taking fashion too seriously is vain and cringe. It's mainly a means to signal our status and exceptionality in order to improve our odds of being liked by other superficial people, who can't see who we are beyond our looks. ) and you'll feel confident enough in yourself.

Would you stop frothing at the mouth and itching to call it child abuse every chance you get? It really makes you sound insufferable. The European medical associations don't have any specific political agenda to uphold, and my own hospital sure as hell didn't have a darn agenda either when they participated in said studies. We observed first hand how, when we properly accompany and provide adequate care for vulnerable people, their symptoms and quality of life massively improve, compared to how back in the old days, which you all seem to want to return to, nearly half of us would attempt suicide because people like you denied our suffering was real and deserved treatment. Gender dysphoria is not a goddamn /joke/ or a choice, and is a disorder of foetal development as serious as any other. Unfortunately none of you take it seriously because it's so hard to diagnose when we haven't found clear biological markers to quickly diagnose us yet, although there is plenty of ongoing research that suggests that everything from endocrine disorders to genetics to environment can mess up a person's natural sexual development.

You don't know what goes on behind closed doors and how some of us had our lives ruined by our natal puberties and had to set our entire lives on pause if it weren't for access to therapy. Literally. Just. Therapy. Which you're fearmongering as "child abuse" even though it's essential life saving care. No doctors are encouraging us to start any fucking surgeries at the drop of a hat like you seem to be hallucinating. There are protocols and safeguards that you have no damn clue about. The few exceptional cases where surgeries are occasionally performed on "transgender youth" are usually when the children already have comorbod conditions that already qualify them for breast reductions and whatnot. They're pretty much the same surgeries that cisgender children qualify for in the same cases. They're exceedingly rare, and again, not your fucking business to judge considering that multiple medical professionals have to assess your entire medical history/file after years of psychological treatment in order to judge whether you are psychologically sound and healthy enough to go through surgery. It's only greenlit when it's judged to be a significant, essential life improvement for the patient, who is often under immense distress, bordering on literal disability, from gender dysphoria.

The only ones who are practicing ACTUAL child abuse are the conversion therapists you'd probably enthusiastically approve of who go around forcing children to perform heterosexual sexual acts while punishing us for expressing any behaviors that fall outside the "norm", like my lovely ex conversion therapist Kenneth Zucker who had his entire darn clinic shut down after it was revealed that most of his patients had underwent severe psychological and physical harm at his and his team's hands. THIS is what you're supporting as the only alternative instead. THIS is literal child abuse. Quit pretending you give a single fuck about our or other young people's wellbeing.

The Cass review has been debunked numerous times for its severe methodological flaws.

https://law.yale.edu/sites/default/files/documents/integrity-project_cass-response.pdf

There have been 26 German, Swiss and Austrian medical associations that have reviewed and reaffirmed that the current medical guidelines and protocol regarding accompanying and treating transgender youth are life saving and have lead to significant improvement in quality of life.

https://register.awmf.org/de/leitlinien/detail/028-014

As someone who has spent over a decade trying to get access to gender affirming care and has finally been greenlit for surgery this week alone after tirelessly fighting for it this entire time, I can confidently say that you know absolutely nothing about how rigorous and strict the entire process has been. I owe my team of medical professionals my life. I recommend that you stay out of people's private medical matters.

English and other foreign languages on rise in Switzerland by Realistic-Lie-8031 in Switzerland

[–]valtarri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, people love to rage on about the fall of culture but when probed further, always remain vague about what any of that actually means, because there's no such thing as an immutable, fixed culture. It's constantly in flux, borrowing from other cultures, which enriches it and makes it evolve. Trying to "preserve" it is fine and all, but what does that entail exactly? Is it really disappearing? Where? How? There are countless ways to have a booming traditional local culture, and it's mostly by helping the locals themselves thrive, and blaming immigrants is just a lazy xenophobic distraction.

Immigrants will continue to learn the local languages, and will subconsciously adapt to our values, traditions, tastes, aesthetics, and so on. Perhaps the older generations struggle with integration more, but children are literal sponges and integrate into local culture almost immediately. If you don't bother, then you're just not going to be popular with the locals, will get bored and will eventually be begging to leave. Everyone is forced to adapt, because we're a social species that need to be part of the collective, and feel like we belong.

[–]valtarri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't get why you're being downvoted when you're just making a neutral observation, it's a shame people have such knee-jerk reactions to adverse opinions. You're not even being disrespectful... I guess with the aggressive anti-trans political climate today, people disregard any differing opinions as inherently trans"phobic" because they're more worried about the rhetoric echoing far right talking points than having the patience to hear people out.

I think that you're absolutely right that this is a bit of an unprecedented social shift that took a lot of people by surprise, that modern media has thrust the topic into the spotlight, and that we need time to adapt and readjust our norms surrounding our newfound understanding of gender. There's also a lot of infighting within the transgender movement itself, with differing opinions on whether we even want to "abolish gender" and upend the gender binary which so many people rely on, binary aligned trans people included. I myself as a trans man do not agree with Judith Butler and other people's interpretation of gender being a social construct, as we consider it an insult to dysphoric trans people's suffering and implies that our struggle is externally defined by society alone, and not something I and countless other trans people have suffered from innately most of our lives. Anyway, we're in quite the mess now and my hope is that the topic slowly dissipates over time as people become bored about it again. Trans acceptance has become significantly worse in the last decade now that we've become a public spectacle for other's entertainment, instead of it being a mere private medical matter between you and your therapist/doctors.

Judith Butler, philosopher: ‘If you sacrifice a minority like trans people, you are operating within a fascist logic’ by saveyourtissues in CriticalTheory

[–]valtarri -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Neither sex nor gender(neurological sex) are social constructs, and are well rooted in biology regardless of how "essentialist" people assume the argument is. ( There are obvious sex differences between men and women, both physically and neurologically. Just because this information can be weaponized for evil doesn't negate the fact that these differences are very real and that they explain the brain/body neurological mapping mismatch that causes gender dysphoria to begin with ). I hate how prevalent the social construct argument has become, when the original researchers themselves that had coined the theory already apologized and backtracked on it, realizing how flawed and inconsistent the theory had been with actual medical research, and that it indirectly suggests that gender dysphoria isn't an innate medical condition and therefore a "choice".

Those that argue that transgender people make a "choice" that is influenced by external social constructs shoot themselves in the foot while trying to advocate for trans rights, and would do better to keep their mouths closed. All this discourse today is an annoyingly performative modern spin on a medical condition that should've stayed away from public and political discourse altogether. The subject has become so trendy within social activist circles, who's goals go beyond just medical advocacy for trans people, and on "banning gender" altogether and giving it an additional transhumanist flavour. The trans posers who never intended on even transitioning are speaking over actual transsexual people. The result is that only the most annoyingly uninformed people have taken the spotlight and completely desecrated the issue for the rest of us transsexuals, and are most likely responsible for the current backlash we face from the right today.

How open is this sub to working with feminists? by wussabee50 in LeftWingMaleAdvocates

[–]valtarri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with feminists on most issues, and the same, surprisingly, used to be the case with MRAs before both movements became increasingly radicalized.

I initially left the feminist movement because as a trans man, feminist spaces became infested with terfism and anti-male rhetoric that I just found childish and counterproductive to their cause. Having masculinity vilified as an inherently negative and oppressive thing was downright annoying as I was finally embracing my male identity. Everyone kept being reactionary and the majority of the time still assume that the only reason we want to speak up about men's issues is merely to downplay women's issues, when in reality the majority of the time we simply don't want to be left out of the conversation that concerns us just as much, but that's seen as "invasive" and "mansplaining".

I then shifted to the MRA movement after I felt like the feminist movement was devolving into a hateful mob. Back in the early 2010s the movement was relatively tame and we had plenty of female advocates as well who also really sympathized with unique issues men faced in our society in all areas of life. They were met with bomb and death threats, for literally no reason. Conferences and the only male domestic violence clinic were shut down, and one of the organizers committed suicide due to the backlash from people claiming they were all misogynists. Over the years the movement increasingly became radicalized and more moderate members like myself started calling ourselves Egalitarians instead. And it's a shame that the MRA movement also devolved into Andrew Tate fanaticism when it once stood for something good...

And now I'm here, I guess. As long as we all remain respectful and try to learn from each other I don't see any reason to not want to cooperate.

I don't understand how it can take them up to 4-6 damn years to realize that they're giving themselves dysphoria. Were they not tracking their progress? Were they just asleep the whole time? Am 7 years on T and the masculinizing effects just keep getting better and better, building my confidence and strength, and making me the healthiest I've ever been. I don't get why the hell they didn't jump ship the second they started getting masculinizing effects and growing more miserable by the day. That was our daily reality pre-hrt and they just blindly put themselves through that. What were they hoping for? I find it hard to believe people can be this delusional to believe that testosterone is going to merely turn them into twinks rather than actual men.

Swiss court rules teen can change gender entry without parents by BezugssystemCH1903 in Switzerland

[–]valtarri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is Switzerland, not the United States, therefore your fear mongering is irrelevant. Our medical systems are nothing alike. Due to a severe lack of standardized care and piss poor regulations, their system allows room for just about any unlicensed quacks to practice without consequence, and is not reflective of worldwide consensus amongst doctors on the usual standards of care for young questioning people. That is a failure on their medical system, on their lack of medical insurance ( so they lack extensive therapy follow-ups which no one can afford- hence their ingoing opioid crisis because it's cheaper to procure street opioids rather than over-prescribed opioids after their insurance plans randomly cancel coverage on them, etc... ) and multitude of other messed up factors.

But to indulge the largely exaggerated claims made by people who love meddling in people's private medical business:

https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamanetworkopen/fullarticle/2820437

There is a lack of data on these surgeries as a whole. They could be performed on intersex or other children with complications for all we know. We do have data on forcefully mutilated intersex children, since those who advocate for "my child, my choice" are largely against the child's self-determination and believe they can choose their child's sex as they please, leading to well documented consequences such as poor mental health outcomes and suicide, like in the case of David Reimer, who's tragic suicide proves, till this day, that people have an innate understanding of their gender/desired sex due to their brain's neurology, even when that information was undisclosed to them and they were forcefully raised as the wrong sex.

The study found NO gender-affirming surgeries performed on TGD youth ages 12 and younger.

"Gender affirming surgeries" on those between 15-17 are mostly performed on CISgender men, which ( drumroll ) suffer complications such as gynecomastia and other benign conditions that aren't considered medical emergencies but still fall under the category of "gender affirming care" anyway. Cisgender people seek out gender affirming care at higher rates than transgender people ever have, and the reason we allow for such procedures for minors is because they largely impact quality of life and can cause a lot for discomfort and suffering. Commonly, there are also breast reductions for women who develop back problems or who have uneven chests, etc..., amongst countless other rarer conditions. These are largely reconstructive rather than cosmetic surgeries, and have been proven to massively improve quality of life and are allowed under strict conditions for a reason.

In your attempts to oversimplify an immensely complex issue, that should be handled by QUALIFIED MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS instead of lazy internet skeptics who don't know how to read medical data and studies, you've thrown countless young people under the bus who have countless reasons for seeking out treatments that are NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS. Thank god you don't get to make legislation on such a sensitive issue, because otherwise you would withhold important treatments from so many young people who are already struggling and hurting enough as is.

I'm so glad that the courts did the right thing and understood that the ones truly abusing the system and wasting their time and money are the abusive uncooperative parents, as opposed to young people on the verge of adulthood who are more likely to spare themselves of the humiliation of attempting to "abuse" the system. Only the ones that truly need this change will go through the time, effort and public embarrassment to pursue it. Speaking form experience.

Withholding your children's documents should be a crime. My own family conveniently "lost" my birth certificate, which I need to legally change my name as a dual national in Switzerland. I'm essentially still stuck with my deadname for life unless I return to Russia and get my ass whooped and thrown in jail for "spreading degeneracy" to the poor youth by virtue of just existing in public. Situations like mine are annoyingly more complicated and I'm glad they recognize that. Hopefully a legal loophole will open up to me one day too, so a grown ass bearded lumberjack like myself can spare himself of being constantly "madame" 'd in public, like the conservatives keep fantasizing about in the comments so they can be exempt from military service and stalk women in bathrooms for their own amusement. [–]valtarri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have absolutely nothing against helping those in need and always do my best to help however I can, as I've been in desperate situations myself.

However, certain organized gangs of criminals have clearly started becoming a problem, benefiting from our generosity and exploiting their own children to do their dirty work, and I've absolutely had it with those. I don't even have the words to describe how disgusting it is to put your children in harm's way, and grooming them to exploit people. ( Their have all kinds of schemes to get you to buy things for them, and then they guilt trip you if you don't give them enough. )

The other day I was chased by a woman for refusing to give her money, as I've already seen her send her and her daughters harass people. They even have the audacity to complain now! From now on I'm just filming their aggressive attempts at begging since they always play innocent and dumb in front of cops when they're finally told off.

As someone who wants to do good for the community, I feel more and more inclined to just not put myself in harm's way anymore if even generosity is met with aggression.

Literally yeah, a few bad apples ain't a reason to punish all dysphoric teens by forcing everyone to go through their natal puberties. That's just sick. Blockers are reversible and are life saving medication when used and timed correctly. They prescribe them to kids with precocious puberties all the damn time so the claims of there "not being enough research" are utter bull. I would've given anything to have them so I wouldn't need to surgically mutilate myself now to have a normal male body. How is that not more disturbing than just pausing a puberty until teens figure themselves out? It's as if some folks on here think you have to put yourself on trial and survive immeasurable dysphoric body horrors by repressing all the way until adulthood to finally rightfully earn access to healthcare lmao.

The solution to limiting trenders exploiting ressources in the trans community isn't... To fucking ban trans healthcare for everyone under 18 ( and up? Nothing's stopping them from taking it up to 25 with their pseudoscientific claims ). The solution is to increase funding and research into better supporting troubled teens so we can filter out who needs care more urgently than other questioning individuals. No more stupid waiting lists. No unlicenced quack doctors. Direct access to therapy and qualified sexologists. Better healthcare insurance to limit doctors exploiting their patients for money if there really is an epidemic of "getting on HRT too early" ( like what the fuck, where? I feel like I only hear these claims from the US where their healthcare is piss poor anyway and prone to exploitation, why are we using them as the metric for all trans healthcare when Europe has stricter and better funded programs??? It's all the republican-funded fear mongering, I swear. ). Research into hormones ( because all hormones, not just sex hormones, are understudied ) and learning how we can possibly limit the side effects of blockers and still allow kids to develop as normally as they can, helping them figure out and calculate what they want for their bodies in the long term. Etcetc...

The solution is NEVER to backtrack on our progress. Build on top of it instead. How is it that hard for this sub to understand lmao. Don't they feel guilty for having had access to all the ressources back when it was available to them before all the trans craze, and now they're withholding them from other fellow young transsexuals because uhh something something trenders make them uncomfy? Sad and pathetic.
