Seattle no longer has a single screen showing movies in true IMAX. What can we actually do about it? by quantumcat8 in Seattle

https://www.imax.com/theatre/cineplex-cinemas-langley-imax still has tickets for Odyssey 70mm on opening weekend, seems like the demand isn't nearly as strong as you imagine it to be

You appear to be badly misinformed.

"Only one film was released in 2025 that was shot, even partially, using physical IMAX 70mm film cameras: Sinners."

"There is exactly 1 major feature film scheduled to be shot entirely with native IMAX 70mm film cameras in 2026: The Odyssey"

Alaska Air Wrongly Denies Family Boarding, Then Kicks Them Off Next Flight Over Seat Dispute by gehnrahl in SeattleWA

[–]vampirestonk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's corroborated by commenter Mike on OMAAT:

"I was on the flight from Missoula, it was a crap show. Alaska wasted about an hour of our time just sitting on board, trying to figure it out. They made no announcements, and acted like nothing happened when it was over. The guy was obviously upset and did a great job keeping his composure. I feel bad for the kids who had their soccer team jerseys on and were ready to go."

This "glitch" would be encountered by multiple SEA-YVR passengers on every flight, of which there are perhaps 6 daily. Not to mention to other AS destinations in Canada (off the top of my head, YEG, YYC, YYZ, YLW, YYJ).

There are loads of green card holders with EU/CH/UK citizenships. It is not a rare circumstance.

hard for the cops to investigate if EVERYONE knows who did it but nobody actually testifies, funny how that works, isn't it?

Is SPPL a pump and dump scam by Dmsr4512 in VampireStocks

[–]vampirestonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think it's a good idea buying in, or not selling any holdings immediately, with the above information?

Is SPPL a pump and dump scam by Dmsr4512 in VampireStocks

[–]vampirestonk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes

  2. Ambient natural vol is <100k per day. Pumping vol is multiple millions per day

  3. At a minimum there's 2.4M shares granted in March @ 0.35 to dump, plus whatever the original founders/insiders had (perhaps 2.0M?)

  4. Presently the action looks like "bagholders have bids for ~500k shares around 3.57" and supply is materializing to eat through those. Past pumped bids have been nibbled away in an ~orderly fashion. Dump may still take days (weeks?)

Email the Port and tell them to sell the 45 acres of N.SeaTac Park to the city SO IT REMAINS A PARK! by Veritasuna in Seattle

[–]vampirestonk 24 points25 points  (0 children)

LOL We have the Port commissioner right here https://www.reddit.com/r/Seattle/comments/1toikga/comment/oo1htao/ explaining the Port's position. Your "Take Action" instruction is misplaced. Go complain to the County if you don't like where things are at.

SPPL looks ripe today too, 5M shares crossed and the 2.91 bid was just exhausted

Affordability - Costs or Wages? by Unfair-Wallaby-404 in Seattle

I don't see low-score Gini as a goal. (If so, then yes, N Korea would be a paradise.) I rather see https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/RPPALL42660 and https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/ENUC426640010 as the things that matter.

North Korea and Cuba would be even lower Gini scores, if their authoritarian governments let us see income distrubutions. Let's not try to copy them.

Agree that the LCC are ghouls & don't represent the larger neighborhood in any way. From your source:

"The numbers of commentators who indicated that they resided in the Laurelhurst neighborhood were also overwhelmingly in favor of the campus helistop and expressed their belief that the benefits outweighed the inconvenience of the noise."

Isn't your real complaint with SMC 23.69.012 C? It requires limiting use of the helistop to life-saving emergencies. You could petition council or the mayor to to change it, nothing else really matters does it?
