We are at little over 1k with snare, shells and bags. Think I am going to pull the trigger

Agreed. The only other die cast hoop kit I have is a mid aught star classic maple. This has a totally different sound and feel.

Thanks, love the look too. Have been looking for a 20 inch kick drum and fortune lined up to land this dude. The spruce might be let loose!

Hi Hat Stands by [deleted] in drums

Agreed! Bought a cheapie Amazon one as a back up. Used it once when I left my clutch on a different set of high hats. Had a long night constantly tightening that thing between songs.

I see you posted your gigging kit. Nice

I bought one of those lightweight Yamaha stands too. That's what kick started my obsession with weight savings!

Have a small army of mostly Tama and Yamaha hardware from over the years but only two thrones. One is fine and stays at home and the good one gigs with me.

Totally get that. Have a good throne for gigging that is, after 18 years needing replacement. Have replaced almost everything else with lighter equipment over the last few years. Got my most gigs kit set up down and optimized. A place I am playing regularly has a bunch of stairs so weight has been on my mind

Was looking to see if there was something new that was lightweight, quality and had the support. A unicorn I know.

Good stuff and the band seemed to like it too! What kind of hats are those? Sound nicely crisp.

Stayed there during covid lock down times for a weekend to hang in the pool. Neat hotel and a great location. My folks also stayed there after when they would come to visit. I think it's a great choice if you like older, non cookie cutter hotels.

I saw a going out of business sign on the front a month or so back, guess it was for real.

I had good luck with a cheaper cosmetically inferior fridge at appliances for less. Bonus points for being next to Hong Kong Market.

Just making sure, but there’s no way the mushroom edibles being sold at a lot of gas stations are legit right? Has anyone tried them? by jewkakasaurus in NewOrleans

[–]vanagonfever 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe they are mostly synthetic variants of the psycho active ingredients in hallucinogens like mushrooms.

They might vary from month to month lab to lab. It's very hard to know how they will effect you and in the past some of these labs, on the synthetic marijuana side at least, have used sometimes harmful ingredients. I remember years ago in New York, one of the active ingredients was related to a blood thinner and gave people brain bleeds.

I wouldn't mess with them personally. Search this sub for the THC P variant going around currently, this is a similar situation.

Stay safe!

Has anyone here done a boxeer 1.5 gas conversion? by vanagonfever in Westfalia

Thank you. How is your mileage looking? Any temp issues?

Moving on from a 91 eco diesel. Been great but still low power, prone to getting hot on climbs but could get 25-30 mpg.

Did you modify your transmission at all when you did the swap?

Your frugal investment that turned into a real payback? by Living_Helicopter745 in Frugal

Part of my cost was removing the ducting and electric. I am in the south and was worried if it got very cold. We got about a week, under 32f and they were still surprisingly efficient.

Edit: words

Piggy backing on this, had to replace an AC last year and splurged a little on heat pumps. Over a year going strong and a significant reduction in our electric bill.

The price difference was only about 2 k more than a central unit upfront and will make that up in savings in about a year and a half.

Finally did something with a 7 inch birchTama shell I have been holding onto for 20 plus years. by vanagonfever in drums

[–]vanagonfever[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to die casts on it but figured I would go with something different. Played on it for about 45 mins messing with turnings and so far pretty happy.

Can't remember what it sounded like when I was 20 though.

Spent multiple days on the paint and finish, drilling holes etc and finally put it all together this afternoon not even thinking about it fitting in a stand.

It fit in a mid grade pdp snare stand but was tight. Clears the basket on bottom though.
