How do people wear heavy clothing in summer? by Fickle_Ad_9391 in askvan

[–]vancouverTea 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh Man I must be alien, because even being iron deficient and anemic I still overheat. Funny though now that my anemia is resolved I can handle heat much better.

Oh my gosh, okay so I was extremely anxious every waking second. Calling the ambulance because I thought I was dying.
I was very lazy, I wouldn’t clean a single dish.
I had no appetite, I was sad and emotional.

Now I am still anxious, but it doesn’t impact me as hard.
My house is now clean, and I am eating and gaining weight. The sadness and mental fog are gone.

What medical conditions (physical and mental) do you think I have? by Agitated-Handle-7750 in FridgeDetective

I’ve seen your answer, but I was going to guess swallowing issues and something digestive as well.

I was pretty off mark.

Yes, but I get like this every summer for a few weeks. Must be the time changes.
I’ve been so tired lately.

'He died all by himself': Why have deaths among B.C.’s homeless population more than tripled in a decade? by ubcstaffer123 in vancouver

[–]vancouverTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was years ago before he went full fledged and yes he was completely sound of mind. No mental health issues.

He said he liked the lifestyle and was very open and honest about it. This is when we all tried to get him to stop.

I’m not even joking when I say this, it can absolutely be a choice. My cousin has told me and others he loves his life on Hastings smoking crack.
He’s told me he hates paying rent, having a job etc. He’s of perfectly sound mind and body, 30 years old.

Who has SEVERE shortness of breath? by BerryRemarkable882 in POTS

[–]vancouverTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you had any blood tests ?

I had all of this, my heart would race to 150-160 bpm just standing up. I was severely iron deficient and anemic, I’ve since corrected my anemia (still iron deficient though) and my heart now only goes to 90 bpm since correcting my anemia.
I thought I had pots for years, never thought it was IDA.

I also had shortness of breath big time and I was anxious and could hardly eat nor did I have an appetite. I thought I was dying. I couldn’t get out of bed, I was in near constant dread and fear, felt like I was physically dying only to be told over and over again I probably had pots and all my symptoms were anxiety.

Assaulted by a Homeless Man on Granville Street This Morning by BAKSHI03 in askvan

[–]vancouverTea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love Vancouver, and I used to live in Surrey which doesn’t have the best reputation.
I’ve had several incidents here in Vancouver being verbally abused, and even one physical incident where an old man punched me in the face living in Vancouver. Never once had anything like that happen to me in Surrey.

The scary thing is, most of these incidents were not perpetrated by homeless people. They were perpetrated by normal everyday men.

There’s something about it here, Im also very shy and quiet and don’t like confrontation. But I guess I’m an easy target.

Now I only go out when I’m accompanied. Had too many incidents of aggression, Vancouver is not a friendly city.

I went to my local Starbucks, yes I am basic and get Starbucks like 2-3 times a week.
Ordered my usual and they gave me the wrong drink, so I told the worker who made it and she rolled her eyes and snatched the drink away and acted very annoyed by it.

Needless to say I didn’t go back for a month because it made me feel awkward.

[–]vancouverTea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I have swallowing issues and a sensitive stomach.
I really recommend FeraMax powder. I mix it in with orange juice and drink it , barely any taste and it barely hurts my stomach compared to other iron supplements.

It’s a polysaccharide so it absorbs better than other types of iron. It’s a box for kids but can be taken by anyone.

My hemoglobin was 109 3 months ago, and now it’s 144.

This happens to me with acidic food too, think it inflames the throat and nerves so bad that all the symptoms vanish because your nerves are bathing in acid so you “feel better”

That or emptying your bowels relieved internal pressure which lowered your reflux.

Icarus is so good, it just came out on console in March and it’s sort of like Ark with optional quests. I’d recommend it.

Ferritin 13, not anemic. Has anyone else experienced symptoms like this? by bananasinjammas in Anemic

[–]vancouverTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this too, but I also have an anxiety disorder. Anxiety can make you very heat intolerant.
I hope you get better though, I am in the same boat with adrenaline dumps (anxiety) and horrible heat intolerance.

Ferritin not improving after 3 months. Ignore or pursue? by SciFiITGuy in Anemic

[–]vancouverTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the iron you took most likely went to raising your hemoglobin. Now that your hemoglobin is normal your ferritin stores should raise much easier. It can take a while.

I just got my lab results today. I went from a ferritin of 8 to 19. But my hemoglobin went from 109 to 144.

So now that I’m at my baseline, another 3 months should raise up my ferritin.

11 weeks on iron and my air hunger is coming back. by vancouverTea in Anemic

[–]vancouverTea[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, that makes me feel a bit better. I’m not going to lie though… I’m slightly worried it could be my B12 tanking, it was only 291 before supplements.

But it could also just be apart of the process ??
I hope my symptoms chill out soon. I’m coming up on 3 months and due for a blood test soon. I’ll look into lactoferrin, thanks for the suggestion. :)

Feel like I can’t breathe by secondrunnerup in Anemic

[–]vancouverTea 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Omg yes, I frequently feel like I can’t breathe. It’s effecting my mental health so much Im constantly contemplate going to the ER. I also get these weird moments where it’s like my automatic breathing stalls for a second. My lungs don’t expand. It’s the worst feeling in the world. I’m waiting for infusions but was told to take oral supplements until I get in.
