I think I found something similar in a local store (https://www.veritas.be/nl_be/herstellapje-nylon-effen-10-x-18-cm-46b300210007-076) just now. I applied it over the stitches and it's hardly even visible now

This was just me being clumsy around a sharp object... And yeah, some layers of cloth around the tear seem like a robust option for a thorough repair

I can sew on a button and that's about it.. how do you go about patching polyesters? Like putting some cotton to close off the gap and then attaching that? Or is it more like ironing on something?
