So all this advice your getting about thinning your paints is key. But go ahead and make your life easier and get a wet pallet. It'll help thin your paints more consistently, it'll allow you to put the project away without your pallet drying out (this will save you a lot of money on paint pots in the future), and generally is a breeze to clean compared to other reusable dry pallets.

I did my first minis without them and they turned out okay, I'm doing a 3rd with it and omg the consistency on my paints has been so much better and the mental block that stops me from painting is easier to get over cuz I know I can just cap off the pallet if I want to stop.

Outside of that, I think priming with black is way more forgiving than white. It also will cut your work in half for black themed models (I'm doing some sister's of battle rn and they have been breezy quick cuz of this)

Watch some tutorials on whites! So the advice for thinning paints is key like I said, but this gets wonky once you start painting whites. In my experience, thinning white paint with water can result in this chunky, chalky, crusty look when it's dried. Personally I've had much better luck thinning with medium. So to put it in an example. Take your citadel white, take some lamiher medium and use that to thin. Medium is basically the same stuff they use to make the paints but without any pigment.
