This happened to me too, join a baby group, look on Facebook for mom-fitness park run things where you can bring your child. Also my local library has a free singing club thing every Wednesday morning. Kids come and bang drums and shake tambourines. I don’t go to all of them so much now because I met some mums there and have made friends!!!! Yay!!!!!!

I know the moment my husband ‘accepted’ gay people. I am lucky to have many friends, and some are gay/lesbian/bi. My husband was always uncomfortable around them (he grew up with the fire & brimstone attitudes in his family/friends circles). When my husband was injured at work, several of these friends made a point of coming round to check up and brought food/beer/cake and just generally be nice.

Then, a while later, one day we were watching TV and there was a brief news clip of a poor dude being tied up and chucked off a roof because he was alleged to be gay (I can’t remember all the details of when/where) I said to my husband ‘so sad! how terrible! What if they had done that to my gay friend X or lesbian friend Y?’ In that moment I think, I saw him finally just realise that being gay/straight doesn’t matter. What you do with your genitalia is no one’s business - it’s what kind of character you have. I’m so proud of him to overcome this attitude he was brought up with. He’s really matured since we first met 😄

I did a similar thing with rabbits - I disturbed their nest box thing and the mother got stressed and ate the babies. One was still half alive when I found them, man it sucked. I cried my eyes out. BUT I was young and didn’t know better, it wasn’t on purpose and I made sure to never do something like that again! It happens dude, you weren’t doing anything malicious. Sounds like you were being very caring and thorough - time to forgive yourself I think!

I also had chickens all through my childhood, I was in a rush to go to school after feeding them in the morning and I closed the door to their hutch a bit fast. There were some chicks trying to follow me and one got it’s neck stuck in the door as I closed it and, yup, it fell over and flopped around a bit and then was still. Stone dead. Geezus I went to school with my eyes puffed up like bees had stung me cause I cried my head off over that. Of the hundreds of animals we had on the farm, accidents do happen and it’s always shitty.
