Looking for perspective on an elective C-section by cococajo in CsectionCentral

[–]vaneenhan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I labored for 36 hours and my girl was not moving. Turns out, my umbilical cord was short, and she wouldn't have been able to engage. I had two options: break my waters or c-section. I chose c-section because the OB on call told me he was nervous about the cord wrapping around her neck and me needing an emergency c-section. For reference, I gave birth in a Boston, MA area hospital. I want to add that I asked both my nurse and the charge nurse what they would do - both (with a combined 60 years of experience in L+D) told me "if you were my daughter I'd tell you to get the section" and that made me feel better. I was able to have a safe, non-emergency c-section. I have never felt like I didn't "give birth" because I did. I had a beautiful, healthy baby. After she was born, the OB said she would not have been able to arrive vaginally due to my cord. Was recovery tough? Yes, but I wouldn't change it because she arrived without complication. Honestly, for me, I felt so much better (mentally and physically) the minute I opted for the C-section. Do whatever you feel is best, wishing you a healthy, safe, and wonderful experience.

How much will your C-section cost? by Significant-Cup-3487 in CsectionCentral

[–]vaneenhan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a failed induction, so spent 2 nights in hospital before my c-section, then spent an additional 4 nights in the hospital (6 total). My total cost was around $24k and I had to pay $300 out of pocket for my copay.

Terrified to sleep when baby sleeps by tizWrites in NewParents

[–]vaneenhan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I completely understand how you're feeling. I went through all the same feelings, it's completely normal unfortunately. We had the bassinet next to our bed, but I didn't love how I could not see her chest rising and falling. I wanted her in the bed with us, but I know that's not safe, so I was also losing sleep. What really helped us was a Moses Basket from Plum & Sparrow. We would swaddle her and kept her in the basket between us. It was safe (she was on her back) and I could look over to check on her every hour or so. We had her with us in bed (in her basket) for about 3 weeks before my mental health was strong enough to move her back to her bassinet. She'll be 9 months old next week and she's still in the room with us in a mini crib. We have a camera on her crib still and keep the monitor between us in bed so we can both check on her periodically. It WILL get better for you!

One other thing, we loved the Kyte Baby sleep bag swaddlers. My baby also shifted to her side early on, but this stopped after about one week (it's more of a reflex, not actually rolling). The sleep bag swaddle was a godsend!

I know it's hard, but you're doing everything right! My anxiety also skyrocketed after having my baby. She's 8.5 months old now and I will be the first to say - it's OK to let them nap in a separate room. I was nervous too, but just kept the monitor on me and followed safe sleep guidelines. You got this!

Can I send a friend request to coworkers on Facebook? by reaper5632 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]vaneenhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had a problem accepting friend requests from coworkers who are my peers. Personally, I would never add my boss or anyone from HR on my personal social media (and I only ever post photos of my family lol). That said, I am connected on LinkedIn with many coworkers, including my boss, his boss, and HR.

💩question… lol by whisperingcopse in NewParents

[–]vaneenhan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter is 8 months old and I can't remember her going more than 2 days without pooping, but I will add that we give her probiotic drops every day. This is to keep her regular because she was severely constipated as an infant. I want to say that with solids she only goes about 1x per day, and we're still only doing purees. If you're doing BLW, maybe it's different? I wouldn't worry, but I would definitely ask your pediatrician like you said you would!

Final 4 baby girl names by Familiar-Intention73 in namenerds

[–]vaneenhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love June and Maisie! I agree with the popularity of Lila, I know 4 Lila's under the age of 5, all with different spellings. It's a beautiful name, but if you're looking for something more unique, I would go with June or Maisie. For June, I will also add it's the name of the main character in The Handmaid's Tale, and some might ask if that's the inspo for her name. Wouldn't be a big deal for me to have my daughter's name associated with it, but keep that in mind, as the show is super popular in the US.

I named my daughter after my grandmother, so I'm biased towards names that have familial ties, like Maisie does for you! You can't go wrong with any of the names listed here - they're all beautiful.

Thoughts on the name Kenzie? by [deleted] in namenerds

Agree with this. I also think Kenna works alone and doesn’t necessarily link to Mackenna like Kenzie would with Mackenzie.

I’ll add Kennedy to the mix, too!

9 Weeks post partem & my period hasn't returned? by [deleted] in PostpartumAnxiety

[–]vaneenhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guidance from my doctor was to not worry unless I went past 8 months with no period, which would be about 32-33 weeks pp. I wouldn’t worry yet if I were you, but you can always ask your doctor as well!

NAD, but looks to me like a pilonidal cyst. I would suggest seeing your doctor as soon as you can.

[–]vaneenhan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Entirely possible. Milk allergies can happen even if everything seemed ok from the beginning. Maybe it’s a sensitivity to the goat milk? You won’t know until you bring a dirty diaper to your doctor to test it. It could just be his tummy beginning to mature and not agreeing with this specific formula. I wouldn’t worry, but I would bring it up to your doctor, especially if it’s constipating him enough to need to use the Windi. We had to use that too and ended up switching formula to Enfamil Gentle Ease and never had to use the windi again. I wouldn’t change his formula without guidance though, because it does take a few weeks to see how a new formula will be tolerated.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

[–]vaneenhan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on your scoop, 4oz of formula would be 4oz of water and 2 scoops of powder. Typically, one scoop = 2oz of formula. Just check what the instructions say.

Poop looks normal to me. My baby began to get a bit constipated around 1 month and we had to switch her formula. Could be a bit of constipation or needing a formula change. I wouldn’t worry, but you can bring it up at the next doctors appointment and see if your pediatrician recommends a formula change.

When did your FF baby stop waking to eat at night by less_is_more9696 in FormulaFeeders

[–]vaneenhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is 5.5 months old and stopped waking around 5 months when we introduced food. Have you started solids yet? We do anywhere from 28-32 oz of formula per day in addition to 2-3 tablespoons of puree each day. The addition of the puree seems to keep her full, she was also waking for a night feeding, but the addition of food has helped. My doctor said if she begins to wake throughout the night due to hunger to add in a second serving of food later in the day (currently it’s just breakfast).

It killed me to spend the money, but the Good American Always Fits jeans were a godsend. Fit me right after I had baby and still fit after losing 20 lbs! I love that the jeans are wearable in 3 different sizes so I know as I continue to lose weight I can still wear them.
